HI HI - Khiara Henry, 23, tourist, Kahului, Maui, 25 July 2019 *car found at Waiʻānapanapa State Park*

Khiara Henry, 23, arrived on Maui on July 21, 2019, and the vehicle she rented was found at Waiʻānapanapa State Park in Hāna on July 25, 2019.

Khiara Henry was reported missing on Friday, July 26, 2019. She is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall, 120 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.

According to a flyer being circulated online, Henry’s vehicle was noticed in the gravel lot at Waiʻānapanapa. “All of her belongings, except her cell phone and car keys were in the car. Her cell goes directly to voicemail and the voicemail is full,” according to the flyer.

We spent the day searching for Khiara. My advice to everyone is to have a stash where all of your logins and passwords to everything are stored and that one trusted friend or family member has access to it. The family can not access credit card, banking or travel without subpoena. There are no helicopters,
No airplanes and only a handful of searchers showed up. The police conducted interviews of ppl in the area and walked 2 main trails.

Once again, it is up to the public to find a missing person.

There was even confusion about Khiara’s appearance. By one report we were searching for someone 200 pounds and 5’8” and by another source she is 5’3” and 120 pounds. Record this information. Tell a friend or family member how tall you are and how much you weigh.

The family is coming to Maui tomorrow.

The only information other than what is circulating on flyers is that she was spotted at the Waianapanapa parking lot with a “hippie” looking guy with long blond hair who was smoking pot and she walked off with him. No information on this person’s age, or what he is wearing or any other details about him.

Conflicting reports about what she is carrying. For sure her cell phone and car keys and possibly her backpack with her passport and wallet. Her cell is turned off.

Khiara is Native American. According to her family she is not an athlete, would not typically take a long hike or explore, and does not have any known wilderness survival skills.

Tomorrow the search resumes with an underwater dive team using underwater scooters, as well as a ground search of the caves and more trails.

Today we did what they called as a hasty path. Teams went in various assigned directions, stayed on the trails and took note of any side trails. This area is easily searchable by air. It is a sweeping landscape of lava rock and cliffs.

Chris from the find Amanda team was HQ’d in a lot. All searchers used a GPS tracking app. Tomorrow, we will have a signal extender bc most ppl could not get cell service.

I will continue to post updates.

Day 2, underwater divers led by Javier searched lava caves in the bay, a ground search team searched lava tubes, we canvassed Hāna and the backside of Haleakalā. Chris, Javier searched from the air by helicopter. A Hawaiian and a young local man led the searches with inside information about the area.

Day 3, the SRT searched Waianapanapa.

Day 4, the volunteer searchers arenin a holding period.

Unlike the Amanda Eller search, the Khiara Henry search is missing traction in the media and in the community.

The same rescue groups that jumped into action to find missing hiker Amanda Eller back in May have joined the search and they've already dug up new information through accessing Henry's e-mails.

"On the 21st she booked a rental car for one night, she booked another hotel the day after that also in Kihei and she booked a flight back home. Her flight home was for yesterday. She sadly did not get on that plane," someone of the STAT Foundation said.

More volunteers are needed to help searchers from STAT Foundation and Maui Search and Rescue to scour the park in Hana.

IMPORTANT NEW KHIARA INFORMATION & TIMELINE
(please SHARE)

23 year old Khiara Henry is a visitor on Maui. She lives in San Diego but her ID is from Nevada.

Khiara stayed at the Aston Maui Hill in Kihei 7/18-21. The staff reports she was very friendly.

On the 21st she attempted to book a condo at Sugar Beach Resort, also in Kihei, for 7/22-29 (they later emailed her back stating it was unavailable). She also booked a flight home at this time, the flight was for 7/29 at 11:55am. Khiara then rented a car in Kahului for 1 night.

With the information available thus far, it appears that on 7/21 she intended to drive somewhere further away for one night, and then return to Kihei for the remainder of her trip. Khiara did have an interest in hiking/waterfalls. Khiara has not been seen or heard from since.

Khiara’s rental car, a black 2018 Nissan Sentra, was found at the Wainapanapa State Park’s parking lot on 7/25 with most of her belongings in it. The park confirms it was noticed there on 7/23, but is unable to say for sure if it was there earlier. Her cell phone and car keys have not been found. Her cellphone leads straight to voicemail, and the voicemail is full.

Khiara did not show up for her flight home yesterday.

If you work at a hotel or car agency anywhere on Maui please look to see if you have any reservations, including no-shows, for Khiara Henry after she was last seen July 21.

If you were in the park 7/21-22 and saw the rental car (image below), or have images with the parking lot included, or possibly saw Khiara there, please let us know.

IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT KHIARA HENRY, PLEASE CALL THE MAUI POLICE AT 808-244-6400. You may also call the family’s local contact Kimberlyn Scott at 808-205-7758.

"Meanwhile, volunteers suspended a search Sunday for another missing person, 23-year-old Khiara Henry.

“At this point we’ve exhausted our reasonable search area, and we’ve done everything that we can do, unless PD gives us something else to work with,” said Chris Berquist of the Search Technology Advisory Team Foundation."
