Thanks.
Given the paucity of information, I don't see any need to start such a thread at this time.

At the risk of being gratuitously morbid, I would suggest that people consider the magnitude of the bleeding that resulted from Karissa suffering a gunshot wound to the head. The bleeding can continue for a very long time after death.. Hunters such as myself and MW understand this.. Other fluids are released to. If there was suffecient evidence at Hopewell to convince LE and the DA that she and William had been killed there and dumped there, there would have been a lot of blood in or in any vehicle that MW transported their bodies in. The same applies to MW's home and the parking lot at Cascade Steel. Is there any information released on vehicles that have been impounded as evidence?

As far as his vehicles go, I have heard:

1. An older Ford Ranger
2. A small pickup
3. A rental car

Someone also said at least one of his vehicles was visible in one of the news videos covering the search of his property. Another said his Ford Ranger is still parked at his house. Another said when he was arrested he was driving a rental car.

LE isn't saying anything.

Salem restaurant hosts auction for family of murder victims Karissa Fretwell, son Billy
A northeast Salem restaurant is holding an auction Saturday to raise money in memory of Karissa Fretwell and her 3-year-old son, Billy.

[...]

"We're trying to give her mom peace of mind and be able to get everything taken care of so she doesn't have that extra stress in her life," said restaurant co-owner and event organizer Kelly Vetter.

The public event will start at 2 p.m. at Shooter's Cafe & Saloon — located at 4716 Silverton Road NE — and will be both a silent auction and a live auction, according to DL, Shooter's bartender and a longtime friend of Fretwell.

[...]

Proceeds will go to a memorial fund for the family of Karissa and Billy to help with funeral and burial costs and to fund a scholarship for a student aspiring to be an English teacher — a dream Fretwell pursued as a Western Oregon University student.

An "older Ford Ranger" is a "small pickup."

However; MW might own two pickups or there might be two pickups involved in the case, one of which is owned by someone other than MW.

Ford Ranger pickups are often four wheel drive. However; unless heavily modified I would not expect a "Danger Ranger" to access an area of mature forest or even a recent clear cut unless the loggers had finished stacking slash piles and the terrain was not to rugged. The area that I posted a link to might be accessible to a Ford Ranger. An ATV wwould be better.

Interesting that the upcoming hearing in August is scheduled to address not just restraints but subpoenas and motions to preserve evidence:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/uwNfrWQ7TfJ2QJCz7

I know from when my brother was murdered, the defense attorney filed motions to preserve evidence and return property in an effort to prevent the police from thoroughly examing and collecting evidence from the Dodge van that was the murder weapon. Traces of tissue and cloth found on the vehicle chasis were critical evidence. I expect that the Yamhill County Sheriff has already inspected and tested any vehicles. The biggest issues would be collection of blood and other tissue and DNA fingerprinting.

Keep in mind that the lab can not only identify the person the tissue is from, they can identify tissue type. It is reported that Karissa Fretwell died from a gunshot wound to the head. Even a .22 pistol is likely to result in blood as well as traces of bone and maybe brain tissue being spattered or leaking from the skull. Finding all three tissue types but not her body would be suffecient to convince an ME and DA that she was dead. If these tissues were found in MW's pickup or pickups, then there would be probable cause for an arrest.

Waiting is tough. Any update on the court info? Any response from DA on the restraints motion?
Looks like the restraints motion will be heard on Aug 5 and a status hearing has been scheduled for Oct 2.

I do not believe that the hearing on the physical restraints issue is going to result in any surprises. The Big Bad Wolfe is accussed of murdering his own child as well as the mother of his child. While Karissa died from a gunshot wound to the head, it was no dispassionate killing. She was abducted, probably with physical force, and almost certainly shot at Close Range or even contact range while she was either unconcious or restrained. That killing was sadistic. No Judge in their right mind would allow him to be brought into court unrestrained. Since Judge Ladd Wiles has been recused from the case, that isn't going to happen.

What will be interesting are the motions to "preserve evidence." This is merely a ploy to obstruct the collection and testing of evidence. I suspect that the defense is wanting to suppress or hide all of the blood and other tissues found in BBW's vehicles, his home, his work spaces at Cascade Steel, and the vehicles of any possible accomplices.

If this effort to suppress evidence fails, I expect to see a settlement conference. If he is guilty, the Big Bad Wolfe is so evil that even Governor Kate Brown will not be able to argue against his execution on principle. A plea bargain to avoid a possible death sentence will be hard for MW to resist.

Thank You :)

Thank you!

This time line is very informative.

At the risk of seeming critical, I would point out that you did not include the August hearing on restraints, subpoenas and preserving evidence. This could get really interesting.

Now that I have your time line, I am mystified about why LE spent so much effort searching in the Hopewell area. The BBW did not spend much time there on the drive back to MacMinniville. However; if evidence of the killings was found at the home on Phillips Road and MW had family who owned land in Hopewell, that might be reason to search there.
Do cell tower ping logs show MW returning to that area at a later date? A ruse to draw LE attention away from the Turner Creek location and his home?

According to Google driving instructions, it should take 33 minutes to make the drive from Cascade Steel to Fretwell's apartment in Salem. MW made the drive in a bit over 15 minutes.

He was in a hurry.
Phone call set him off?

In other news, I checked for a possible real estate listing of the Wolfe's Lair. So far it is not for sale.

He left Salem at 1:38 and didn't get to work until 2:35. That is nearly an hour not 15 minutes. I have made that drive numerous times at night. It's quick and pretty straight. Like Janzen said...something about phone pings sent police to his property. Probably that extra half hour. A lot can happen in a half hour in the sticks where there are no street lights.
