A female body was found in an Illinois forest preserve, the FBI confirmed Tuesday. Authorities believe the person was the victim of a kidnapping but have not yet identified the body.

Last week the FBI offered a reward for information about missing Gary woman Sidne-Nichole Buchanan, who is believed to have been kidnapped.

“Our investigation has revealed that Sidne was last seen in Illinois but we have evidence that she was in Indiana after that. The presumption is she was taken across state lines against her will until we find evidence to the contrary,” FBI Supervisory Special Agent Mike Peasley said Saturday.

I can see why the FBI was in on this so quickly and they were calling it a kidnapping. Her "date" was probation for kidnapping another woman and badly assaulting her. Man accused of murdering Gary woman Sidne-Nichole Buchanan has prior criminal history The sad thing here is you only have to google his name to find arrest history with his photo. Man, 37, pleads guilty to intimidation in pregnant girlfriend's battery case

Often abusers are highly manipulative and don’t show their true colors in an effort to confuse their victims... I wouldn’t be surprised if he has figured out a way to spin a tale of his prior arrest history to make it seem “understandable” if someone was to confront him about his violent history... bleh :(

Hammond man charged with possession of stolen property

Here is another charge from years before. The article does mention police were originally called about something to do with a kidnapping. I’m thinking he has done this many times before. He should have been locked up a long time ago.

He was named immediately on Facebook by most everyone posting about Sidne... I wonder why they didn’t name him and list him as a POI or suspect immediately? I guess maybe they thought if she was still alive it could be safer for her with him not named? I’m sure law enforcement knew who he was right away too and I wonder if they were following him?

So upset that this could have been avoided if he had just been kept behind bars. Heartbroken for Sidne’s family.
 
Authorities captured a wanted suspect Wednesday night in the murder of a Gary woman whose body was found in a forest preserve.

James McGhee, 38, was taken into custody and charged with murder Tuesday night in the death of Sidne-Nichole Buchanan. He is the man she was last seen with and he had been wanted for questioning.

McGhee was arrested late Wednesday in Hammond by the FBI and Indiana State Police, according to the FBI. He was apprehended hours after the FBI put his picture out asking for help locating him.

The suspect, 38-year-old James McGhee from Gary, was taken into custody Wednesday evening in connection with the death and disappearance of Sidne-Nichole Buchanan.

Authorities said the 27-year-old was last seen with McGhee on July 27 at a concert in Tinley Park Buchanan had been missing for more than two weeks until a body was found Monday in the Thornton-Lansing Road Nature Preserve was identified to her hers.

McGhee's arrest comes a year after he pleaded guilty to felony intimidation related to allegations in 2017 that he beat and later kidnapped his then-pregnant girlfriend, who told authorities she miscarried three of her four quadruplets.

Under the plea agreement with Lake County, Indiana, prosecutors, McGhee was given a three year suspended sentence and placed on probation, which he was still under at the time of his arrest.

McGhee is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Friday.

The man told police McGhee showed him a picture of a woman believed to be Buchanan, saying, "I beat her up bad. This is when she was living," records allege.

When police executed a search warrant at the apartment Aug. 1, they found no one inside but smelled a strong odor of cleaning products.

Further investigation revealed the carpets in two bedrooms recently had been cleaned. When authorities removed the carpets, they found dark stains under both of them. Tests detected urine in one bedroom, and blood in another bedroom, court records allege.

McGhee's initial appearance is scheduled for Friday, Perkins said.

Agreed. This poor woman! Can't imagine what she must have gone through. Police knew he had her & checked-out the monster's apartment Aug. 1. Perhaps they didn't tip their hand in hopes of finding her alive.

Wonder if Sidne knew something was amiss and decided to record the monster at the concert. She shows few, if any, live recordings on her FB. Also, wonder if he planned to harm her, thus didn't want to be recorded.

he "lost it"? that is what he told his friend. unbelievable...

so much virtual love to those who knew and cared about Sidne... Their suffering now is tantamount to anything... May they find the strength they need to go and get justice for this beautiful woman.

McGhee is being held in the Lake County jail. He has not yet entered a plea. It is unclear whether he has retained an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

In the meantime, Buchanan’s friends and family are mourning her loss. In a heartbreaking Facebook post on Monday, Buchanan’s family remembered her for her “ambition, altruism, passion and love. Sidne was a dynamic person. She cared deeply about her family and friends. Sidne was loved by many.”

“She was an incredible, passionate person, incredible heart, incredible smile, infectious laugh,” her friend, Joe Starnes, told local ABC affiliate WLS “I’m just going to miss her a whole lot.”

Poor Sidne! Rest easy now. Prayers for Sidne's children , Mother & family.

Of course, we can't change anything or go back in time, but this man should have been locked up and not had the opportunity to kill Sidne . He already showed he places zero value on human life plus he's violent.
