GUILTY NM - Craig Cavanaugh, 44, Mazatzal Casino, Payson, 4 July 2019

I hadn't read that yet but now I see that it was indeed Home Depot and the specific location (Glendale) is mentioned in the article you linked below.

Let's get this information on the thread so we're all on the same page. :)

From the article:

[...]

Farmington police out of New Mexico posted surveillance photos of two men at a Home Depot. They say they used 44-year-old Craig Cavanaugh's credit cards the day after he went missing. Now, nine days later, his community is concerned.

Police say Cavanaugh left Farmington, New Mexico on the Fourth of July to head to a job site in Peoria. Since then, he's vanished. A source close to the investigation tells us Cavanaugh was at Mazatazal Hotel and Casino before his phone turned off. According to police, Cavanaugh drove a 2012 Toyota Tacoma with license plate 4FR5994.

"We were able to trace [Cavanaugh's] phone to Payson, but we haven't been able to trace it since," said Georgette Allen with the Farmington Police Department.

Now detectives are taking a closer look at two men seen on surveillance at a home depot in Glendale. Police say they used Cavanaugh's credit card here. They also made purchases with his card at a Maverick gas station in Payson, as well as a QuikTrip in Peoria between July 5 and July 7. Police are investigating how the two people at Home Depot could be involved in Cavanaugh's disappearance.

An article stated CC were used at a Dillards as well.

Very little info given. With the amount of comments on social media, if location was given, I’m sure a search would be organized. I keep wondering if the two guys using the card have anything to do with him being missing. They may have found the truck abandoned with his wallet inside, who knows. If it was foul play by them, I just don’t see using the card for a small 7 cu ft freezer, doesn’t make much sense to me. Location of truck, video from casino and gas stations, and his profession need to be released.
You would think a search was being put together but nothing!

Are these two men involved w hiring him for the job site? Could they have lured him there?
I thought the exact same thing. If they did and were caught using Credit cards they could always say he sent them to buy that stuff, and then claim they havent seen him since.

July 5th appears to be the date they used the credit card at Home Depot based on the article below. It’s nice to have the map view. So these guys used his card in Payson, where CC was last known to be, then used it in Peoria, the city he was heading to for work, as well as nearby Glendale. That’s seems too coincidental to me. It would be great to find out what his job was in Peoria, or just his job in general.

<modsnip: If you can't post it, don't mention it or discuss it.>

Police in New Mexico asking for public's help in locating missing man last seen in Payson
5th-7th as well

Thank you. It's good to read some news.

Noting:
  • A witness reported seeing someone who fit Craig’s description in Payson on July 4. The witness did not comment on whether CC was in distress or not.
  • When Craig disappeared, his truck and credit cards vanished as well. Within a few days, the credit cards resurfaced.
  • The two individuals who used Mr. Cavanaugh’s credit cards did so between July 5th - 7th. The cards were used once in Payson and twice in Glendale.
  • Officer Brown told Dateline detectives have identified the two men and are working with local agencies to locate the men and interview them.
  • Officer Brown said agencies “in and around the Phoenix” area would be responsible for charging the individuals with fraud, since that’s where the men used Craig’s credit cards.
  • The two men remain at large and Officer Brown declined to comment on whether or not they are considered suspects in Craig’s disappearance.
  • Officer Brown said the location and the condition in which the truck was found are not being released to protect the integrity of the case.

I’m still not over the fact that the men using his cards have been IDENTIFIED and the latest was that they remain at large. Surely they have been able to find them by now too, or are they missing as well?

If they have been located by police I would think there would be more answers. This is all very strange combined with how little it is being reported in the media too.

All IMOO

I was just thinking along those same lines yesterday. Where the heck are these guys? If I had more time, I'd check the jails. MOO

They have an update but are waiting for authorization from LE to post it.

Help Us Find Craig Cavanaugh
Still waiting for the update to be released; they have been told it will be any day now.

I've been watching this one too, curious what the update is & why so vague? Both of these disappearances have me scratching my head :confused:o_O
We are local to the Payson area & have not heard one peep anywhere about either case from locals (except on FB).

What I keep getting stuck thinking about is - what is happening with the men that were identified as using his credit cards?? I mean talking to them should have yielded lots of answers IMO. But we don’t know if they have talked to them or not. Surely this will be solved soon.

Is there a thread for Keith Bailey? I tried looking but could not locate one if so.
There is not. I looked as well. But with nothing from MSM or LE, difficult to start one. Only thing I could find in KB were social media links. Also Reddit, which I believe is not allowed here.

That area looks so isolated, yet there is housing within 1000 ft of that location.

Not sure this abandoned vehicle is the right one yet...but if one wanted to hide a car out in this wilderness, you probably would take it farther out into the wilderness, and away from Payson.

The only logical reason that it might be dumped where it was, is that the perp(s) had a connection to that "housing within 1000 ft of that location", and needed to walk back. This avoids involving a third party. Maybe they live there or are visiting. Look like more than 50 residences within a mile.
