Police investigating the disappearance of a former professional goalkeeper have appealed for an "unknown man" to get back in touch with them.

Kamil Biecke, 34, from Luton, was last seen in the town in December.

Bedfordshire Police said it had "received information from an anonymous source" after previous appeals.

"In order for us to follow up this lead, we are appealing for that person to make direct contact with us again," Det Ch Insp Mike Branston said.

"If you fear risk of retribution for coming forward, we have mechanisms in place to protect you.

"It is simply not acceptable that we leave Kamil's loved ones without the answers they need, and anyone who may be responsible for his disappearance to continue walking the streets."

Missing goalkeeper Kamil Biecke feared dead

A former professional goalkeeper who fell into a "heavy gambling lifestyle" may have "met a violent end", police have said.

Kamil Biecke, 34, from Luton, was last seen on 8 December at about 01:30 GMT.
---
There has been no telephone or banking activity from his accounts since he disappeared, Bedfordshire Police said.

Mr Biecke moved to the UK in 2016, and was known to visit bookmakers and casinos in the Luton area.

He was reported missing on 14 December by his estranged wife, who was unable to contact him.

Mr Biecke, who also has links to Cambridgeshire, Milton Keynes and Scotland, had not been in contact with friends or family since his disappearance, police said.

Det Ch Insp Mike Branston said Mr Biecke had "fallen into a heavy gambling lifestyle" after moving to Luton.

"We are concerned that his associations may have caused him to end up in trouble, which could simply mean he has tried to leave this lifestyle, or more worryingly, that he has met a violent end," he said.

Missing goalkeeper feared dead

It is five years since Kamil Biecke was reported missing from the Bury Park area of Luton.

Kamil, a former professional footballer, was reported missing by his estranged wife in Poland and despite our best efforts, including carrying out searches at several addresses in Luton, we have so far been unable to find out what happened to him.

Our detectives are treating his disappearance as a murder enquiry.

Establishing what happened to Kamil and bringing anyone involved in his disappearance to justice remains at the forefront of our minds.

Detective Inspector Lee Martin said: "I have no doubt there are people in our community who know what happened to him. It could be someone you know.

“Kamil’s loved ones deserve answers. Please come forward if you can help us – either directly to the police, or anonymously through Crimestoppers.”

The investigation is still trying to trace what happened to Kamil Biecke, who was last seen on the morning of 8 December 2018 on Shaftesbury Road in the Bury Park area of Luton.

The Bedfordshire Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit is treating the investigation as a murder enquiry.

Detectives have carried out a series of enquiries to trace Mr Biecke since he was reported missing by his estranged wife from Poland six days after he was last seen. This includes carrying out searches at several addresses in Luton.

Polish-born Mr Biecke is a former professional footballer, last playing for Baltyk Gdynia in his home country in 2013. He moved to the UK in 2016, where detectives have established he was involved in drug-related activity, and was believed to have gambling debts. He also had links to Cambridgeshire and Milton Keynes, as well as Scotland.

Detective Inspector Lee Martin, leading the investigation, said: “Establishing what happened to Kamil and bringing anyone involved in his disappearance to justice remains at the forefront of our minds.

“I have no doubt there are people in our community who know what happened to him. It could be someone you know.

“Kamil’s loved ones deserve answers. Please come forward if you can help us – either directly to the police, or anonymously through Crimestoppers.”

Anyone who has any information is urged to report it as soon as possible. Any details, however small or seemingly irrelevant, can be used to help police build up a picture of the case.
