They did, after all, buy a rifle. I always believed they intended to kill somebody, one way or another.

From the RCMP report:

There were two SKS type firearms used in the offences, one of which has being identified as being purchased by McLeod on July 12, 2019 at the Cabela’s Store in Nanaimo, BC. The second is an older style SKS with numerous serial numbers indicating parts from different weapons were put together over the years. Investigators were unable to identify where this older SKS weapon or parts originated from.

On July 19, 2019, at approximately 4:47 p.m., McLeod and Schmegelsky purchased a crow bar and electrical tape at a Vanderhoof hardware store. [This electrical tape is believed to have been used by McLeod and Schmegelsky to put racing stripes on the hood and back tire of the RAV4 in order to change the appearance of the vehicle. The surveillance video from Vanderhoof showed no distinct marks on the RAV4.]

So there is the reason for why the RAV looked different. Also in the gas station images where Kam is filling the tank can see Bryer off to the right of the image.

That must have been what we saw in that gas station email photo. It was thought not to be them because of the stripes.

"At approximately 2:00 p.m., primary investigators became aware of a witness who came forward to a RCMP detachment and provided a statement. The witness knew McLeod and Schmegelsky and believed the boys may have been involved in the murders. This is the first time that police learned that McLeod and Schmegelsky may be capable of the murders which conflicted with original witness statements from family and associates."

Cold blooded killers. I know we wondered here if Kam was not really "into" this whole killing spree and/or that he wasn't the one that really wanted to commit suicide. We thought he looked stressed, upset, ready to give up in the hardware store video.
Good gracious, none of that was even close to the truth.

So BS stepped out of his camo onesie and tried to disguise himself in a plastic looking cowboy hat... Not sure what date the photo is from but the hat was bought July 14th.

On July 14, 2019, at 5:05 p.m., McLeod and Schmegelsky were at a gas station in Fort Nelson. They purchased food, a cowboy hat and fuel from the location.

Those are the same shoes he was wearing in the Airsoft video shown on 60 Minutes Australia.

Fairview sighting was confirmed.. that was the gas station email we had but wasn’t published. I’m surprised the ferry travel and Nanaimo Cabella’s was not included.

Yeah odd, on the map they put a pin in Nanaimo for Jul 12th but didn't include it on the list it.

"On July 26, 2019, search warrants were executed at McLeod and Schmegelsky’s residence in Port Alberni looking for ammunition and any planning material. There was nothing located of note regarding any pre-planning of the offences or motive."

Holy crap! They drove by my place twice. I sometimes bike or run on the Hwy but in recent years decided against it after a couple weird encounters.

I would find it unsettling to learn this after the fact. There could be more witnesses who had strange encounters or saw them but thought otherwise because it was never confirmed they were there.

On July 15, 2019, at 4:00 p.m., Schemegelsky and McLeod were at a Whitehorse gas station. They purchased a 20-liter gas jerry can. [A jerry can nozzle was seized from the burnt truck scene.]

On July 22, 2019, at 1:10 p.m., McLeod and Schmegelsky were observed at the McDonald’s in Thompson, Manitoba. They were driving the RAV4. The surveillance video showed black racing stripes on the hood and back tire of the vehicle.

In the question time at the end of the press conference, at least one of the reporters spoke with an Australian accent. Is she the one who asked what might have been the motive?

It would have been nice to have each reporter recognised by the name of the news agency they represent, and to have their questions spoken into the mic.

S&M stopped for gas in Fort Nelson at 5 pm, when Lucas and Chynna were already parked by the side of the highway. It would be about a 3.5 hr drive to their van. Timing indicates their murders happened about 1:30 am, then S&M drove extremely fast up to Watson Lake.

They reportedly used black electric tape to put racing strips on LD’s RAV4 according to the below article. Do you remember earlier on in the investigation when it was reported a Jeep Cherokee with racing stripes was reported near the scene? Can someone locate that article?

Is the what you were thinking of: >>They add he may be associated with an older model Jeep Cherokee with a black stripe on its hood similar to a racing stripe, and a black light/bull bar with small, covered lights.<<

They didn't need to write anything down, they had plenty of time to hang out together and talk about it.
