It's rather long and the prosecutor discussed a lot, so it may be easier for you to watch it, along with the reporters follow up questions.

A brief summary:

Earl Webster Cox, age 61 was charged with murder, kidnapping and sodomy in the November 1993 death of 9 year old Angie Housman. She disappeared after getting off her school bus one afternoon, while walking a short distance to her home in St. Ann, MO, a suburb of St. Louis. She was found dead 9 days later in a nearby wildlife area by a man hunting deer. She was nude, handcuffed to a tree head bound with tape. She died of exposure a few hors before she was found.

He's a former member of the Air Force who grew up in the St. Louis, MO area and lived (or had relatives who lived) near Angie's home and school

Cox is currently house in a federal prison hospital in North Carolina. He had been arrested and convicted in the past for molesting children - young girls. He was discharged from the Air Force in 1975 for molesting 4 young girls when he was stationed at Ramstein AFB in Germany.

He was later paroled from prison and returned to the St. Louis area. At the time of Angie's abduction and murder, Cox had returned again to St. Louis after being paroled for a second conviction for molesting two young girls.

In 2003, Cox was convicted for enticing a minor across state lines to be his "sex slave" (it was actually an undercover FBI agent). When arrested, they seized his laptop computer and discovered he was a systems administrator for a large international web site for pedophiles and purveyors of child *advertiser censored*. He had over 45,000 images of child *advertiser censored* on his computer. He was convicted and sent to prison. When the end of his sentence neared, the feds managed to keep him in prison under the Adam Walsh Act by demonstrating he was still a dangerous risk.

LE said Angie had been tortured and violently sexually abused in the days before her death. They believe she had been held captive elsewhere and that others besides Cox may have been involved. They are still investigating to see who else may have been involved. Angie's step-father has been questioned because his DNA was found over the front of her body. Police asked him if the photo of Cox looked familiar and he said it might be but he couldn't remember.

Cox was identified by a small spot of his DNA that was found on a piece of the trim of her panties. His DNA was matched through CODIS. He will be extradited back to Missouri in the next couple of weeks to face the charges.

Angie's mother died 2 years ago from breast cancer. Her step-father and step-brother still live in the St. Louis area.

'Elation' for the lawman who spent 2 decades searching for Angie Housman's killer

An interview with the now retired St Ann police chief about his relief at finding Angie's killer. He spoke of how much work they did, thousands of tips followed up, searching for so many years. He used to come home and lie awake nights staring at the ceiling trying to figure out who killed her.

LE did a great job and finally got the break they needed on the DNA technology.

In the article further upthread about the break up and arrests of the international child *advertiser censored* web site that Cox worked for, LE mentioned that systems administrators for the site (Cox was one) gave members advice on how to avoid detection by law enforcement. Cox must was pretty skilled at not leaving much evidence for police to work with in Angie's murder.

There's also a video at the link with a collection of archival tv news footage of Channel 5's coverage of the murder back in 1993.

"Fox2/News 11 has learned that the man charged this month with Angie Housman’s 1993 murder will be extradited back to face justice in St. Charles County by Friday.

Earl Cox has been in a federal prison in North Carolina. He’s a convicted child predator both here in the St. Louis area and at an Air Force Base in Germany. The federal government has been able to keep him behind bars because of concerns he would be a threat to children if he was released.

The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office says Cox is due to return on Friday."

Earl Cox was in court to answer for allegedly assaulting two other young children years before Angie Housman went missing.

August 5, 2019

"ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A convicted child *advertiser censored* ringleader connected to the murder of Angie Housman faced a St Louis County judge Monday.

Earl Webster Cox, 61, was in court to answer for two separate alleged sex crimes more than three decades old.

Cox appeared in court Monday in a wheelchair. His hands and feet were shackled. He stood up at one point to tried and approach the bench, apparently able to walk.

Overall, he looked healthy and didn't show any emotion.

There was no bond for Cox, and he told Judge Jason Dodson he did need a public defender....

Shortly after charges were announced in the Housman case in early June, St. Louis County Prosecutors charged Cox with sexually assaulting two other children under the age of 14, between 1987 and 1991, two years before Housman was killed....

Accusations of child sexual abuse by Cox go back to the 1970s, during his days in the military.

Over the years, he would be accused, arrested and convicted for molesting young children more than half a dozen times. In some cases, Cox was released because of insufficient evidence. But now, at least two of his former victims have come forward.

Cox is slated to be sent back to St Charles County to be held on murder, kidnapping and sodomy charges related to the Housman case.

We asked the St. Charles County prosecutor about whether Cox could face the death penalty for Angie's murder and we're told it is "a possibility, but not been determined yet"."

More allegations against Angie Housman’s accused killer (with clip)

AUGUST 13, 2019

"ST. LOUIS – Another former employee of Earl Cox is coming forward to share what she says he did to her as a teenager.

Cathy McKenzie worked for Cox's siding company when she was a teenager in the summer of 1996 and 1997. She called him a pervert.

McKenzie, who now lives in Nevada, said Cox would stand on ladders to look up girls’ shorts as they were handing siding....

Now several women have come forward to say they weren't surprised when Cox was arrested. A group of teenagers who grew up in Ferguson would work for Cox in the summertime to make extra cash. McKenzie claims one day Cox grabbed her and threw her to the ground. She said he told her, "that's how fast someone could take you.”

Those words now haunt her after she learned of Cox's alleged connection to Housman.

Housman was killed three years before McKenzie and others worked for Cox.

McKenzie said she now wonders how close she came to being taken as well. She said she was able to fight off Cox because he knew her father was a police officer. She can't remember if she told her father what happened all those years ago but said she left and never went back to work for Cox after that day."

That's terrifying! Did you read this article from July 20, which discusses more of his activities when hiring the girls to work for his siding business?

Women recount haunting interactions with suspected child killer when they were teens

He was filming the girls on the ladder and rubbing their legs. He invited them over to his home to watch the video. Fortunately, none of them took him up on the offer. His behavior was getting out of hand. One of the girls even contacted police

It was so unnerving she called police to say something was off. Mills said two officers interviewed her and “…said they did know about him. They’d had complaints. He is a known pedophile. So shortly after – there’s no reason for me to work for somebody like that, so I just quit.”

It was hard to forget the vibes she felt 22 years ago, especially something she overheard heard Cox’s brother tell him privately. She remembered his brother saying, “You’re getting in too far and it’s going to happen again. You better be careful.”

Man charged in Angie Housman case faces new charges (with clip)

OCTOBER 3, 2019

"ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – New charges are leveled against the man already accused of kidnapping and murdering Angie Housman.

The new counts against Earl Cox involve another victim in St. Louis County and the crimes allegedly happened before the Housman case.

The new charges are laid out in a four-count indictment handed up by a grand jury....

Cox, 62, is behind bars at St. Charles County Jail. He was charged in June with kidnapping, sexually assaulting, and murdering 9-year-old Angie Housman back in 1993.

Shortly after those charges were filed, Cox was charged in a second case with sexually assaulting a young girl from Overland years before the Housman case.

The new charges are from that second case which was before the grand jury for indictment on Wednesday....

At first, Cox faced two counts of sodomy in the second case but then two additional counts were added. Cox is now indicted on four counts of sodomy.

Authorities tell Fox 2 Cox first started sexually assaulting the second victim when she was just 7 years-old and that the abuse took place from 1987 until 1991....

Cox is being held without bond and Alton says there could be more victims."
