Natural vs. artificial light can change the appearance of someone's eye color. My mom had hazel eyes. In certain lighting, her eyes looked green and in other lighting, blue. In the family room, they appeared blue-green, in the upstairs hallway in the daytime they looked hazel, in the hallway at night, green. Just as an example.

Maybe with your suggestion, they’ll reopen the investigation as far as a match is possible

Hey Bit of Hope! I haven’t heard anything back but I’ve been going through cases this weekend and making a list of agencies to contact this week! So I’ll contact them again tomorrow!
There weren’t any identifiers that stood out, IMO, Doe Network shows that DNA is available for both. I’m still very unfamiliar with exactly what that means though. As far as automatic database comparisons go. These two seemed too close not to at least get confirmation since neither of them were listed on the other’s exclusion list! One thing that has always stood out to me was the shower curtain found with Doe. Khymbrly was last known to be at her apartment and a neighbor was suspected of murdering her. Although Khym had a roommate (who wasn’t there that night allegedly) it seemed reasonable to think the neighbor could have grabbed his or her shower curtain and used that during the course of the murder/concealment. JMOO

Reading through the third article, it was the first I'd ever heard of Shauna Lee Urbain. I can't find any other information about Shauna's murder online.

Good find PropaneYeeter. It's quite disturbing there is nothing about Shauna's case to be found. I wonder if there were POI's back then. And the S tattoo...hmmm.

I wonder if it had to do with the Patricia Taylor case. She ran away from a girls' home in OK and also had an S tattoo, but has been ruled out.

The letter “S” is intriguing to me. Good find @PropaneYeeter ! I have not been able to find a thing on Shauna! Not even the articles you found. But the tattoo is also an identifier in a few other cases. Bit of Hope mentioned a girl’s home and if IIRC it was in Oklahoma? Possibly. I know it was somewhere near Texas.

I did a search just out of curiosity to see if I could find a possible meaning behind that particular tattoo, aside from simply representing someone’s initial. I found a case from California in 1962 about a guy who kidnapped a teenage girl and branded her with a letter “s”, claiming it represented his desire to make her his “s”lave.

ETA: I didn’t intend to post just yet!

I also came across the case of Sylvia Likens, the girl from Indiana who was kidnapped by a mother and her children and neighbors, tortured and held captive for several weeks before being killed. She was branded with a letter “s” and other than her first name I didn’t see anything to explain the reason behind the s. Several people involved were in their early teens at the time (1966) so I wonder where they ended up.

I found another interesting article about a serial killer that I had never heard of. The time frame and geographic location was interesting. In 1978 Lawrence Singleton from Sparks, NV, picked up a hitchhiker, Mary Vincent, and drove her towards NV before he stopped near Modesto, CA and beat and rapped her and chopped off her arms with an axe! She was awake this entire time. He then left her in a culvert to die. She survived the entire ordeal and testified against him the following year. He was in prison for a little over 8 years?! Not surprising he went on to kill again. But I wonder how many victims he had before Mary! Surely she wasn’t his first.

I’m going to continue to keep an eye out for anything about Shauna! I also sent another email to the ME’s office concerning my request to compare AGJD to Khymbrly Scruggs, I will post once I receive a response!

I hadn’t read the new replies on this thread about Patricia. I couldn’t think of the name! I just knew there was an Doe and a missing person with the same tattoo but they had been ruled out as being the same person. I know there are a few more girls around the same age who bear a similar tattoo. There is a missing young woman from near me, Stephanie Meeks Henderson, who also has letter “S” tattoo. That may be why it has always stood out to me. It seems like there could certainly be a connection or related meaning behind that tattoo! JMOO
