THE LATEST: 5 days since the kidnapping of 3-year-old Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney

I take that as meaning they might be scared to turn Cupcake (her) in.

Authorities have offered rewards that will lead to “Cupcake’s” rescue. Other activits implore the kidnappers to release her as soon as possible.

most kids would freeze and most parents think their child would do the opposite
there've been studies done that show this
Not to mention, this was a birthday party. The kids might have thought it was a child's parent offering to give out the candy. The kids were having fun playing, like they should be, not a care in the world.

I think that is a little bit of my point here. Multiple people have now said everyone knows everyone there. I think non of the children were alarmed because they knew or were familiar with the person who grabbed her. If it is the POI I am convinced he is well known around those parts. Moo

That could very well be- he could have been familiar to them. Or to one of the parents and the kids have seen him before and didn't feel alarmed.

I also have a sneaky suspicion that LE may have a video of him and his sidekick in that vehicle near the park. Notice they have not ever mentioned a video from the park, just the Shell station. I wonder if he was there buying some candy before he went to the park to abduct Cupcake, or any child for that matter, that came near him to get some candy. Perhaps his sidekick was the driver. LE might have a video of them and their vehicle being at the park at that time, but not the actual kidnapping. He's probably smart and knows where most cameras are there, but there just might have been one he wasn't aware of, or someone might have turned in a phone video of theirs, placing them at the park.

This is where I am a little stumped. Wouldn’t “witnesses” be able to confirm wether this POI was the same guy trying to pass out candy? Or the same guy who grabbed cupcake? And was cupcake at all kicking and screaming when she was grabbed? Dad made mention of the fact she would not just get in a strangers car. She has been described to have quite a personality. I don’t get the impression she would go without a fight. Moo

He did say that, but she went back to her cousins apartment with the woman who threw the party and she didnt know her either.
It was late, she was probably tired and it was dark,if he just got out and picked her up she maybe didnt get a chance to make a fuss?

Michigan State Police say more arrests may come in child *advertiser censored* ring case

COLDWATER, Mich. — Michigan State Police continue to investigate a child *advertiser censored* ring that led them to making two more arrests recently. It was a detained suspect’s mobile phone and social media account that led them to two women in Kalamazoo County: Rachel Burrell and Amaris Wyman.

“There was photos and videos sent between the two of them of abuse that was happening to an infant.”

Det. Tpr. Bowers said there was inappropriate content on Wyman’s phone and media accounts as well. However the two women did not know each other.

Toole is one the first four suspects who were arrested and arraigned in August and September on charges of conspiracy to kidnap, sexually abuse and murder a child. Police allege that Toole, Talia Furman, David Bailey and Jayme Lapointe all planned to kidnap a child from a county fair or Meijer or Walmart and discussed ways to dispose of the body.

:eek::eek::eek:
This is just so sickening and disturbing that I don’t even want to address it. But I have to point out that their plan was to go to a location where there would no doubt be multiple children. Very public locations with crowds of people where adults may be preoccupied to notice. In this case, it is a private residence complex. One would have to have known that a birthday party and another event were taking place on this day at that time where they knew multiple children would be and adults may Be preoccupied to notice. Who could possible know that unless it’s someone who lives there, someone who knows someone who lives there, or someone who knew cupcakes family’s plan that day. Moo

Agree. I am not even sure that Cupcake herself was the intended victim- I think any child or little girl would have been taken that day. She just so happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, so to speak.

Or, perhaps this person is familiar with Cupcake- someone she's seen before and wasn't afraid of. I don't know, just tossing things through my mind back and forth like everyone else.

Where is Kamille McKinney? Search for kidnapped toddler nears 1 week
[...]

Fire officials tell us most fire stations across the country are considered safe places for children.

If Kamille was dropped off at one of their stations, they have strict guidelines to follow.

“Our employees will accept the child. Start to render any care if needed. Notify law enforcement, and our employees have been advised not to question, try to ascertain who the person is or start any type of investigation,” said Battalion Chief Sebastian Carrillo.

It really seems like they have some clues that she's still alive and is being held captive somewhere.
MOO
I hope so, but for some reason, I just don't feel it.

They haven't found a trace of her so far. Her shoes were left behind, but as someone mentioned, she may have taken them off to play. Although, I could have sworn that I read that her shoes were found in the parking lot, so I am not so sure about that detail.

The first 48 hours are the most important, aren't they? After that, things go decidedly downhill. :(

Yes, her shoes were found in the parking lot.

Her shoes were found in the parking lot so police believe she is barefoot.

FBI: ’Every second counts’ for missing Alabama child Kamille 'Cupcake’ McKinney
It’s been six days since 3-year-old Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney disappeared from a Birmingham birthday party and experts say time is no friend to child abduction investigations.

[...]

Since day one, investigators have treated Kamille’s disappearance as a stranger abduction, though they say they have not ruled out any scenario. Such incidents grab headlines, but are rare in any city in the U.S.

[...]

The last time Birmingham experience anything close to Kamille’s disappearance was on Thanksgiving Day, 1993, when 6-year-old Peggy Chappell was seen getting into a van or SUV with a man who witnesses said kissed her on the cheek.

[...]

A medical examiner found no evidence Peggy was sexually assaulted, but police found a pornographic magazine next to her body in the garbage bag.

[...]

Her killing remains unsolved. Where Katie Chappell is today is not clear.

“From what our Behavior Analysts folks say, it’s not very common to have a 3-year-old abducted by a complete stranger,’’ said Birmingham’s FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp Jr. “When you’re looking at child predators who are looking to abduct a child for sexual purposes, those children tend to be older.”

[...]

The FBI mobilized its Child Abduction Rapid Deployment teams to Birmingham. “Any time you have a missing or abducted child, history has demonstrated that time is of the essence’’ Sharpe said. “Every minute, literally every second, counts -- especially when the child is abducted by a stranger.”

[...]

“When it’s truly an abduction by a stranger, 99 percent of the time it’s for nefarious purposes so we know generally it’s not going to have a happy ending.”

[...]

Though the FBI is acting in a supporting role to Birmingham police, the agency has opened its own kidnapping investigation as well. “The presumption is made whenever there is an abducted child that there’s the potential that they cross state lines,’’ Sharpe said. “That goes back decades when the FBI first got involved in kidnapping investigations going all the way back to the Lindbergh baby.”

[...]

In addition to the CARD team, the FBI has brought in the Behavioral Analysts team from Quantico. They have a psychology background and start analyzing facts of a case to build a profile of who investigators are likely looking for in terms of a suspect.

[...]

Thirdly, the FBI’s Evidence Response Team has assisted Birmingham in a number of searches already, most notably when an SUV sought in the case was recovered by police 24 hours after Kamille’s disappearance.

[...]

"If you’re dealing with a stranger abduction, history shows and case studies have documented, that the longer the time elapses between the time of the abduction and when the child is recovered, they typically don’t have a happy ending,’’ Sharpe said.

[...]

Sharpe said he doesn’t yet know how long the CARD team will stay in Birmingham.

“As long as we have enough leads to justify these resources, then we’ll keep going as long as we need to go,’’ he said. “As leads dry up, we will scale back our resources.”
