California Wildfires 2019

Well, the Power Company, says they can fix their power lines in about 10 years.
Let that sink in.
First of all, they are bankrupt.
The State of California has been bragging the last 4 years that they have a very healthy war chest amassed for emergencies.
Time to start focusing those dollars on fixing California's grid all you politcians.
Personally, after 30 years of living here, we are done.

You know they won't, the electric companies will just continue to pass on the cost to us consumers here in California. They're making it hard for the middle class here

Worst winds of the season batter California, bringing prospect of more blackouts, fires and evacuations

““The magnitude of the wind gusts really are going to be a concern,” said Daniel Swain, climate scientist with UCLA and the National Center for Atmospheric Research. “The actual winds that people experience really will be quite extreme in a lot of places, really everywhere except for the wind-sheltered parts of downtown L.A. and central L.A.””

Firefighters battle to save Reagan Library as Easy fire reaches its doorstep

“Firefighters were at the facility prepared to provide structure protection. The flames were being held back by an aggressive ground and aerial attack on the ridges beyond Simi’s modern residential estates.

Helicopters repeatedly dropped loads of water behind the library in 60-mph winds, turning the flames on the ridge 300 feet below into smoke. Amid wind gusts strong enough to knock a person off balance, two super-scooper planes dipped down behind the library before unleashing such a volume of water it created its own rainbow.”

Thousands of people in the Getty Fire burn area remained evacuated Wednesday as another Santa Ana wind event was expected to bring gusts up to 80 mph.
The winds are going to be the biggest factor in how quick they can get a handle on the Simi fire. Lots of fuel in the area mixed in with the ranches and houses that are in the area. And the news just reported another fire a few miles east in Calabasas

(O:T, You guys...Um, I think I found something suspicious...see the photos at the above link. I zoomed in on the patients and noticed some things I thought didn’t look good at all. So I googled the facility and noticed they have may have a potentially troubling history...not sure how or where to discuss it, reporting my post.

Wind gusts reach hurricane force as wildfires torch Southern California

(CNN) — The race to stop an inferno torching the Los Angeles area has gotten more dangerous as furious winds -- some as strong as in a hurricane -- stoke the flames.
Gusts of up to 70 mph will fuel the Getty Fire through Thursday, threatening more than 7,000 homes, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
And that's just one of at least 10 wildfires burning across California.

Just seeing this thread for the first time. Praying that our WS peeps in the area of the fires are safe.

Slightly OT: The Tick Fire may have revealed a homicide victim. Unidentified remains were revealed when brush concealing the remains burned away. The remains are not of a fire victim and have been there a year or longer: CA - CA - Santa Clarita, Remains in Area of Tick Fire (Unrelated to Fire), PMI >1 year, Oct'19
Being discussed in this thread, hoping it is Will.

California fires: San Bernardino homes are burning, and strong winds threaten to stoke other blazes - CNN

Two more have broken out overnight. The Hillside Fire in San Bernardino and the 46 Fire in Jurupa Valley.

News just reported the 46 fire was started after a suspect drive into a field after a police chase early this morning and caught the field on fire. Also saying it isn't terrain driven but wind driven as it's in a heavily populated area and is being driven by embers being blown around.
