Site with info about carrying knives here :

https://www.gov.uk/buying-carrying-knives

Would a ceramic knife be classed under - stealth knives - a knife or spike not made from metal (except when used at home, for food or a toy) ? Never used one (didn't know they existed) but wouldn't they be prone to chipping under hard use by a chef ? I can believe they are used to avoid metal detectors.

One example of a good reason to carry a knife given in your link Jessie is
stated as taking a knife to and from work that you need for work. I agree perhaps they could be classed as a stealth knife but are sold as kitchen knives by the look of them.

I too had never heard of them before.

Because this man deserves everybody to listen:

This is the account of the British Transport Police officer who confronted the three terrorists that night, armed only with his baton (BTP, as with all forces in the UK, are not routinely armed, though there are specialist firearms officers). He also states in the interview that this was the first time he had extended his baton for real, having been a police officer for just two years.

This man is an absolute hero. He undoubtedly saved enormous numbers of lives that night, and respect also goes to the colleagues who held his hand as he was bleeding out in front of them, and to the other colleagues that night who were aware that an officer had been stabbed but did not know who it was or how badly.

And while we're at it, it is worth mentioning that many of the same politicians here who have been heaping praise on our police recently, today cheered as they passed a vote to cap public sector salary rises to 1%.

And a final point: We have often been told here recently that there are 'extra armed police' on our streets at the moment for reassurance patrols. I feel it's worth openly acknowledging how misleading there is. There are not 'extra' armed police. There are the same number there were before. The reason there are now more on shift is because they have had rest days and annual leave cancelled, are working double shifts (16-17 hours), and barely getting a break. I have seen multiple accounts of officers who have recently worked 29 days in a row with no days off.

Much respect to our emergency services.

A tribute is projected onto the side of London Bridge, London, Sunday June 3, 2018, to mark one year since a deadly vehicle-and-knife attack on London Bridge. Prime Minister Theresa May says Britain's resolve to "stand firm" against terrorism is stronger than ever. (Dominic Lipinski/PA(/PA via AP)

Survivors, politicians and emergency workers were attending a service Sunday at Southwark Cathedral near London Bridge. The nation will hold a minute of silence at 4:30 p.m., and the words .LondonUnited will be projected onto the bridge, which connects London's business district with the lively south bank side of the River Thames.

May paid tribute to the bravery of first responders and others, including Ignacio Echeverria, a Spanish man who tackled the attackers with his skateboard and died in the attack.

She said the fact that seven of the eight victims came from outside Britain -- from France, Spain, Australia and Canada -- was "a reflection of our great cosmopolitan capital, whose energy and values brings together people from across the world, and a tragic reminder that the threat from terrorism transcends borders and impacts us all."

Fiance of Canadian killed in 2017 London Bridge attack describes moments before her death
In statements made to the Central Criminal Court in London, “I was looking down at her body while she convulsed and released the life from her physical body.”... The couple had just spent the evening at a Thai restaurant near the River Thames and were walking back to their hotel on the night of the attack. Ferguson recalled how he confided in his fiance about the difficult relationship he had with his father. According to the court documents, Archibald had advised Ferguson to repair the relationship because he could be “run over by a bus tomorrow.”
Moments before the attack, Ferguson said that Archibald stopped walking and kissed him passionately, and told him she loved him.

Mystery of man spared by London Bridge terrorists

''The London Bridge attackers paused their stabbing rampage to talk to an unidentified man and then spared his life, it has been revealed.''

''Graphic footage played to the Old Bailey on Wednesday showed the trio moving around the Borough Market area as a pack, stabbing and slashing any man or woman within reach while shouting “Allahu akbar”.

''Investigators have mapped the movements of Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba in detail, plotting the points where each of their victims fell.

But police admitted they do not understand one incident caught on camera, where a man was left unharmed for unknown reasons.''

Footage played to the court showed a man walking alone down a road adjoining Borough Market, holding his phone.

Redouane is seen jogging towards him holding his 12in knife, which was taped to his wrist.

The CCTV, which is silent, shows the pair briefly speaking to each other before the man is allowed to walk on unharmed, turning to say something to the attackers as he leaves.''

“There’s clearly some form of discussion,” said Detective Superintendent Becky Riggs, from the Metropolitan Police counterterror command. "We don’t know what was said, we never identified that man and regardless of appeals for a witness, he never came forward."

The terrorists then continued their stabbing rampage in restaurants in Borough Market, including Black & Blue.''

The mystery man probably said the shahada or something alike.

I remember starting this thread. One of many. Have grown weary of all things terrorist since.
We're down to the petty crimes nowadays. Stab a few unbelievers, claim insanity.
