I'm still one of those people that walk around my vehicle and look inside to see if anyone's hiding in the back seat, particularly if I'm not sure I locked it.

She did appear relaxed at the station, and it's crossed my mind that somebody could have slipped into her vehicle. There's p
lenty that loiter around those convenience stores.
If I see people loiterting I will not stop. We have a lot of homeless people.A homeless 61 year old woman was murdered night before last. 3 witnesses, no one stepped in to help

There are no naturally occurring alligators in the area. This is not a swamp. There are not really alligators "all over the South" . They are prevalent in the COASTAL areas. Occasionally there will be one far inland but usually it's because someone let a pet alligator loose. It's definitely a rare thing. Normally away from the coast you do not see alligators in rivers, lakes or ponds. Lee County is 3-4 hours away from the coastal area of Alabama. It's mostly farm land and wooded forests.
There are deer, turkey, and raccoons. Not 100% sure about wild boars but I never heard of any. I doubt they are roaming through the area.
Crocodiles don't live in North America, and certainly not in Auburn.
I live in SW Georgia. Well inland, we have lots of alligators.

was aniahs car backed into the space when it was found?

if so, that indicates to me a somewhat sophisticated criminal put it there...maybe not sophisticated but at least someone who planned this. I think if this was a car jacking or a crime of opportunity the perpetrator would probably not have the forethought and/or time and state of mind to patiently back her car into a space at an apartment complex.

i keep feeling like the person who did this knew aniah and wasn't random but is trying to make this seem like a random crime

"I'm optimistic that we're going to get her located and I stay optimistic on every search that we do. We've been in 38 states, 10 different countries, we've had a lot of success, we've learned a lot of stuff over the years, gained a lot of really neat resources, but we're only as good as our next search and Aniah is our next search," he says.

Miller says they have 50 plus miles of terrain to cover from Auburn to Montgomery, their resources range from horse and rider teams to foot searchers and ATVS. The people in the area right now have come from 5 different states to help find Aniah.

Yes, it was backed in.

I believe they knew Aniah in some way. I'll be interested to learn when her car was actually parked there. If they knew enough to dump her car there, they may have stopped somewhere to regroup. I also believe there are more than one persons involved. Backing Aniah's car in makes sense because they would have wanted to hide the license plate. I don't think backing the car in had anything to do with how Aniah parks.

gotcha. There is an insane amount of information being withheld. It’s really a matter of why— maybe waiting on other suspects to misstep? However I pray the family is able to stay patient for justice
I take everything that Summer says with a grain of salt. She seems to perpetuate rumor as fact.

Would police still give public statements stating that she was "last seen at the chevron" if they had other video of her after this?
IMO, "last seen" can mean several things and all be true, as there no qualifiers - for example, last seen in person, last seen on video, last seen physically.

But to answer you question, I don't think they would release information about additional video unless they need the public's help.

ETA: If LE has video of a person interacting with Aniah outside before or while getting in her car, and they couldn't identify that person, I believe they would release that video to plea for the public's help. The fact that this hasn't occurred, especially after so much time has passed already, it makes me doubt that that video exists.

That said, if they have another vehicle interacting with her, then I doubt they would release that video unless they couldn't get a license plate number.

Alligators are, by far, coastal or in the lower third of most southern states. The Alabama Extension Co-Op clearly states there have been occasions where Alligators have been spotted further north but it’s the exception, not the rule. The water temperature in these areas are not conducive to typical alligator habitat. While some few wanderers may reach areas in north Mississippi and northern Alabama the vast majority do not and that isn’t debatable. Insinuating they thrive in lakes and ponds all over the Deep South is only semi accurate, they thrive all over the Deep South in the southern portions of the coastal states but they do not “thrive” outside of those areas. Any spotted are in those regions are clearly atypical but not impossible. Somehow relating Aniahs demise due to alligators would be an extremely rare situation for this part of Alabama. Not impossible but very rare nonetheless.

This is my last post on this topic, but I am going to at least defend myself here.
So, first of all if anyone wants to go back to my original post, I never insinuated anything of the kind about this case. I was answering a question someone had about the wildlife and they specifically asked about hogs and alligators. I answered with the factual knowledge that I have about the state that I live in which is a border state to AL. I also ended my comments with asking a local to weigh in and give more info. My rebuttal has nothing to do with how regional wildlife factors into this case, but everything to do with how rudely and inaccurately the person responded to my information, which is factual. Don't tell me what its like where I live.

Secondly, when I refer to the deep south, I mean the deep south. Not sure where you are located, but maybe that means something different to you than it means to me.

Sorry, but we have a good population in a particular area that I specifically know of in north MS. I won't bore people any longer about the alligators with explaining to you exactly how I know but it is very close to the border with AL.

The lower two thirds of my state has a very large population of alligators that in no way comes from "people letting their pets go". It is illegal to keep them as pets here anyway. I don't live anywhere near the coast or the MS river and my county has the highest alligator density in the state. Depending how close to water (any water) you live, you might find one in your back yard or on the highway. We have enough alligators in this state that we have a population control harvest where people enter a lottery to get tags for the hunt. I run a trail system where we see and hear them frequently in the summer months. Mostly they keep their distance, but a friend had one come up on the trail last summer. He was not near any big water at all but likely came up in a very small creek nearby. We think it was after his dog. I have personal experience in my area. I never said I had personal experience in AL but there are others who commented specific areas in AL where they have them that are not coastal.

Now....I'm going to catch up on this case and few others and leave the wildlife discussion right here.

Our View: The ongoing search for Aniah Blanchard expands, and we all have a role in it
"Once again we find ourselves grappling with potential tragedy; this one involving a violent crime, and this time with a young lady who remains missing".

"Regardless of the final outcome, Aniah’s disappearance already should serve as a stark reminder of the need for constant guard and attention to everyday safety rules, such as the need for awareness or escort when walking into a dark parking lot at night, keeping car doors locked, the old “stranger danger” guard, and other methods of self-defense and precautions."

WHY are we spending time debating the alligator population????????

Someone asked a question way back and I innocently gave an accurate answer, asked locals to weigh in, never intending for a debate. In each of my posts, I reiterated that it probably had nothing to do with this case. I see no need for debate and said so in my final post on it. No good deed goes unpunished....

Moving on...

This will be so hard on the volunteers - Tim’s people are used to it but they are not - it is not easy - I’ve never forgotten searching with Tim’s group
I hope they get fantastic support. I read on the social sites they are trying to get as much donated as possible for TEQ while they are in town.
Rooms, food etc. 50 miles is a huge ordeal, I can’t imagine what the searchers will go through.

I hope so, too. I think people will come through.

Looks like the weather will be mostly good the next few days with some spotty storms tomorrow. Lots of sunshine and comfortable temps for the most part.

Something is still bugging me about the Snapchat conversation. I think it's that she answered her roommate with "I'm with Eric" and then says it's a guy she just met. If you just met someone (which makes it sound like you met them that night), I don't feel like you'd answer someone saying "I'm with (person's name)." If you just met them, there's no way your roommate would know who you were talking about. So why would you just say "I'm with Eric" like they should know who that is?

I feel like I would respond with "I'm hanging out with a guy I just met." IDK it's weird to me. And she didn't say it was a guy she just met until she was prompted by being asked "who is that?" It does make me wonder if she sent those messages IMO.

Also the roommate asked WHERE she was at and she never answered the question. She said WHO she was with instead.

I have to say - out of everything - I am not focused on the Venmo vs. debit card, alligators vs wild pigs, locked gate vs. open...I CANNOT get this dialogue from the supposed text/Snap messages out of my head. This does NOT make sense. I'm not sure I believe this was actually a text/snap exchange.

IF these texts/SNAPS were ACTUALLY made - there is NO way a girl would respond to a girlfriend (that is as concerned as this one claims to be by 'waiting up' and saying I love you when she is about to see her in a few seconds (insert side eye), because she is SUPPOSEDLY close to home at that point) with "I'm with Eric" "a guy I just met"...and even if AB responded to her roommate with that answer - do you really think in a MILLION YEARS a roommate/friend in which was that close to the missing that she is 'waiting up' for her would not have said something along the lines of "huh" Eric who" 'a guy you just met, where"...there is no way in the world she would not have had questions. NO WAY! I don't believe a word of this. Either these texts were never actually sent (remember they received screen shots of the SNAPs) (there are generators that can create fake text messages) OR they were sent by someone else.

Her roommate is the last person to have any KNOWN interaction with her - apparently. At that point she was close to home. (insert side eye)

The " I'm so, so sorry" does NOT sit well with me. Nobody says that. For what? I'm so, so sorry is for if you did something...so, so wrong. The phrase makes no sense being used in this context. She didnt write that. Again, this is either fabricated OR someone had her phone.

Someone who knew her, knew the override code to get into her phone vs. face recognition disabled her 360 and then turned her phone off.

I very often sit silent...I rarely even attempt to come up with a scenario that i share out loud here...but something stinks here. I am afraid we are overlooking the obvious.
I at this point, can almost guarantee that a select 1-3 people I have in mind, know EXACTLY what happened to this beautiful girl.

Time will tell. I hope I am wrong.

Snipped by me. BBM

I totally agree.

But here’s the thing... her family said this exchange sounded like her normal vernacular. They know her best.

If my roommate says she is almost home, I'm not going to drag out a conversation with her on snapchat. I think it definitely could've been her texting because if it was someone else, wouldn't they say she was planning to stay out longer, or would be home in an hour or so? What if the roommate had said she was going to wait up since AB was almost home? As for the "so so sorry", I can see myself saying "OMG, I'm SOOOOOO sorry!" if someone says they've been waiting up for me. And I'm not 19.
