Found Deceased WY - Aubree Corona, 28, did not return to campsite, Sublette County, 13 Jul 2019

Thank-you everyone for all the love, support, prayer, ideas, and sincere hope you all have given us, Aubree's family, over the past 3-4 months! We are still waiting for the autopsy report and official COD but even though we are still devastated at the loss of beautiful Aubree, we know that we are very blessed! We were able to find Aubree, bring her home and lay her rest in a relatively short amount of time. While Aubree is in our thoughts every second of every minute of every day; our thoughts are also so her much with all the families of loved ones who are still missing, so for many for years! Our short journey into this devastating world of the unknown was almost more than our family could bear! Thanks to our "new family" here at WebSleuths we found the hope we needed to continue to look for Aubree. For those with loved ones still missing you will always be in our thoughts and prayers! We are now "family"! Until Aubree went missing we had no idea how unfortunately large that family was! Our heart breaks for everyone of you! When we have more information about Aubree I will post again. But thank-you again everyone for all your help!

The Fremont County Coroner’s report confirms her manner of death an “accident” and the cause of death “complications of environmental exposure and hypothermia.”

[...]

Additionally, the coroner’s report listed her “relevant toxicology” as Oxycodone, Delta-9 THC and Gabapentin. Fremont County Coroner Mark Stratmoen commented, “In this case the combination of substances were directly relevant to the disorientation and confusion that contributed to the circumstances.”

Gabapentin is a generic of neurontin, a nerve blocker. Both that and the oxy could be for shingles, but they are most commonly used in combination for back pain.

Or really any type of pain. I work at a Surgical hospital and our orthopedic surgeons give Oxy and Gabapentin after total knee or hip replacements. However there's been quite a bit of misuse when used with opioids and over prescribing of Gabapentin recently.

Gabapentin, a drug for nerve pain, and a new target of opioid abuse

Very glad her family got a chance to bring her home and lay her to rest and grieve. Surely hope she didn't suffer. It can get quite chilly up there after sundown. A person can get disoriented in the woods up there quick. The chain of events was upsetting as well am sure. Happy Aubree got home for here family MOO

How considerate of them to list her drugs as contributing to disorientation rather than commenting on other possibilities.

I'm still curious as to how long she was out there before succumbing to the elements. Why didn't the coroner list an estimated time of death?

Her body was found over a month after she got lost. They can't estimate a time of death or even an exact day in those conditions. It doesn't work like the TV show CSI in real life. The best they might be able to say is an estimate of how long in the body had been there (days, weeks, months, etc). The Medical Examiner may list a "time of death" and "date of death" on the death certificate but it is the time and date when the ME arrived on the scene and pronounced the person deceased. I've followed many cases over the years and I have never seen an estimate of actual time of death from the ME. Since Aubree's death was ruled accidental the public will probably not get any more information. I'm so sorry to her family and friends who loved her. :(

What other possibilities? It's sad but that is what the investigation determined. They didn't have to tell us (the public) about the specific drugs in her system but I feel like it helps to understand how she got so turned around and lost more than once in the same day. I mean, she asked for directions at a gas station and then apparently went the opposite direction of the directions she received. If we didn't know about that combination of drugs contributing to disorientation then there might still be some mystery on why she went the wrong direction. JMO.

Thank-you for your comment! As Aubree's family we have wondered the same thing! The gabapentin and oxy Aubree had prescriptions for after being in several car accident when she was younger. While we didn't condone Aubree's use of pot to deal with her anxiety and panic attacks. She had tried prescriptions for those attacks but she felt like they sedated her and changed her personality. However, the pot, according to Aubree, just took the edge off of her attacks and allowed her to stay in control. But the way it was presented was extremely misleading. The coroner cannot pinpoint Aubree's date of death, so how can they pinpoint that they were contributing factors in her death? Maybe the medications they are detecting were from several days prior to the day she went missing... We do not believe that the coroner, with any amount of certainty can or should state that any amount of medication/drugs found in Aubree's system were relevant/contributory to what happened on July 13th. Aubree laid out in the elements for 38 days, the coroner is only guessing/speculating that Aubree was affected on the day she went missing. Listing the meds is and should be illegal. First, it's an invasion of privacy, and releasing personal medical information to public scrutiny is a violation of HIPPA. Just because Aubree is dead does not mean she does not have rights! But per the coroner it's WY State law that IS contibutory to someone's death it has to be listed for public review. But our question, other than the blatant violation of HIPPA, is can they absolutely prove, without any shadow of a doubt, that those drugs were in Aubree's system in the amounts they claim would cause confusion on July 135th? The behavior Aubree displayed on the 13th of July was very similar to her behavior when she she's having a panic/anxiety attack. As a family we have had a chance to speak to several people that had interactions with Aubree on July 13th, and they did not feel as though she was impaired, but more frustrated, upset at being lost, and Just very agitated. As a family we feel it was very inappropriate for her meds to be listed as the coroner does not have absolute proof and is really only speculation! Thank-you for realizing that there are other potentially relative things that could have contributed to Aubree being lost. Aubree DOES have a history of anxiety/panic, another potential. We're sure she was desperately trying to get back to her children, which would have increased her anxiety, which would lead to more confusion... But just because the coroner found the drugs, they thought no further! Thank-you for opening the idea of there being OTHER possibilities.

To Aubree's family there ARE other possibilities. We have seen Aubree have panic/anxiety attacks and the description of her behavior that day is very similar to what she experienced during one of her attacks, just to a much greater magnitude than she had ever experienced before. With her desperation to get back to her children Aubree could have very easily "lost her mind" which appears to us to be more likely. After, 38 days out in the environment can the coroner REALLY determine what EXACTLY was in her body on that fateful Saturday? Or could what they found be remenants of what she had taken days before?
