Interesting about the unknown girl who was trying to dance with Theo in CMs. No trace of her or knowledge about whether she was foreign, Australian or even a local. Then he’s evicted and pauses along his journey down Kingsley. Did she or someone catch up with him, or was he just alone looking at his phone or whatever? Did he follow someone up Tennyson or simply see the street on the map he was watching, meaning he didn’t have to search for it specifically. He must have known about the gathering at the end of Tennyson and intentionally walked there because a “friend” was with him or already there. He stays there for 7 to 8 minutes, then goes quickly and directly to Milne. It’s pitch black and he’s going through scrub on an unfamiliar path. His cap is found later along a tricky route to the beach. He uses his phone at CC, and watches a minute or two of the final episode of a favourite Belgium tv show. They’ve got a fair bit of detail about his route, and traced his path, and found the trek to the beach a difficult one in broad daylight. The police sound indifferent and complacent, with no info released about anything. The police line according to the family is that he fell into the ocean, so it’ll be interesting what this coronial inquest comes up with too.

I just find it bizarre that that bat would just be left out in the open and abandoned like that, especially with those words on it and possible blood. If used to harm, it’s a HUGE piece of identifying and incriminating evidence. Makes me wonder if it was left intentionally, or planted, along with the cap.
Yea I agree and wondered if it had farm animal blood on it if not a DNA match to Theo

Lighthouse podcast #3.

Theo stopped at the end of Tennyson for 7 minutes. Seems it’s a youth hangout with a fire pit etc. It’s beside the YAK homeless camp, and it was mentioned that there’s also a camp there for delinquents. It appears like he ran off with randoms.
Or someone/they grabbed his phone off him, and Theo chased him/them all or part way to CC

I don't really find it bizarre that someone would throw away a piece of evidence that, if it was linked to a crime, would directly implicate that person if caught with it. I a calm someone might have had the sense to burn it, but then again might assume the weather would remove DNA traces. Another thing to take into consideration is that, if someone did use this weapon on a person that resulted in a death, the first thing a person would want to do is get rid of that person. Gloves may have been worn while handling the bat, or it might have a large amount of DNA on it, which would provide misdirection. I can see one in a state of panic, or high adrenalin contented with the body and forgetting or dismissing the bat, especially if they feel guilty and are trying to distance themselves from the crime.

He paused at the end of Tennyson for almost 10 minutes. There’s stuff there that gives the impression it’s used as a hangout, and it neighbours an outdoor living space for homeless and youth. Seems he hung around for a bit and then headed for the beach. Seems he had his phone on him the whole time according to his family.

It was in the sand dunes at Clarke’s Beach, so may have been initially thrown in the ocean anyway, which would/should sterilise it. Just say someone returned for the phone, then you’d imagine they would continue that mindset to return for other connected stuff too. Who the hell knows? There’s so many loose ends here that it feels impossible until someone in the know starts talking.

Why they aren’t publicising the faces and details of the unidentified three girls in the bar is baffling. Blanketing social media would locate them soon enough.

Why the family is doing the ongoing quality work is also not good enough.

There needs to be more transparency and accountability by the bar and the police.

I did work as an RSA (responsible service of alcohol) officer not too long ago.
If a person is playing drinking games, the initial response is to talk to them, keep an eye on them. If it continues; removal.
I imagine a less involved process in BB. Finding any reason for removal would be a common practice in BB. Finding signs of intox is easy and sometimes subjective.
I don't find his removal unusual.

After listening to Episode 3, who was the random girl dancing with Theo? Was she the girlfriend of the bouncer who kicked him out? Sounded like Theo ignored her advances. The podcast mentioned Theo going to the toilet and the bouncer waiting to talk to him after. Was he jealous of Theo attracting her attention? From the CCTV It seemed like the bouncer escorted him outside for a disciplinary chat, then directed Theo to go toward Tennyson St. Why? Dial a gang to punish misbehaving evicted backpackers? Are the local police scared of these people or do they support each other? That’s one scenario. Otherwise as Aron. Wor says, sculling beers might be seen as a quick way to have drunk customers, and maybe the bouncers don’t want that going on. But then if unexpectedly kicked out, Theo stumbled down the wrong street. Not a good street to be having your eyes glued to a mobile phone screen

The process of removal is probably best when grabbing an intox person on their way out of the toilet. The process would have been something like:
TH is observed sculling. TH was then observed buying another beer. They would have been assessing people on the dancefloor for any signs of intox. TH would have walked to the toilet, and the bouncer in charge would have said just grab him on his way out.
Another suggestion might be that they suspected someone was doing coke in the toilets and suspected it was TH. Grabbing after they perhaps thought he's just had some.
Another suggestion might be that they observed him only but 2 beers in the time he was there and took a dislike to that, or that he seemed more intox than his consumption would suggest.
A group of young backpackers drinking CM's. I would suggest that someone trying to get another person's attention by dancing close to them is common. I wouldn't consider it suspicious.
After listening to the podcast, I believe 7 minutes that TH stopped for is very significant. So is the location.
The indigenous fella was pretty onto it.
But why did he go that way in the first place?
It could be that he knew someone camping in that location, in a car. It could be that he heard a rumor it was a location that people hung out in, and thought it'd be a cool traveler's type of vibe, but got that wrong.

Theo was also dancing on the table which isn’t uncommon there either. The girl dancing with him needs to be identified as it’d be ludicrous to minimise her contact without closer examination. Of course dancing with others is typical behaviour, however we’re looking for info on how and why he deviated off the expected path that night and everyone around him would hold info. There’s visuals of her, and the other two girls that need to be put out in public to enable identification and interviews. If the police haven’t spoken with them, they need to.
Theo’s character profile doesn’t fit with doing coke in the loo, or ice on the beach. Someone had simply told him about a party of sorts at the end of Tennyson, or they’ve taken him there. I veer towards the latter. I think he heard about Tennyson from someone and saw it’s position when googling the directions home. He’s gone there because someone he knows (from Wake Up or CMs) has told him about it and was there too.
Then they’ve run to the beach to continue having fun. There’s probably a girl involved as he’s felt safe and willing, at least at the beginning of the trek.
His godfather said he probably watched that 90 seconds of Burger Quiz as it was the final episode and he may have wanted to check up on what was happening and how it was ending. If so, it would seem to be something personal you’d do alone - whilst waiting perhaps. Who knows? Someone does know but so far they aren’t feeling motivated to tell.
Get photos of all non-identified and interviewed people of interest out into the public. Get a decent reward for info out, and let’s hope the police start releasing some support and findings before they find they have a homocide on their hands and critical time has been lost.

I've just learned what "playing drinking games" means. I guess you don't play them on your own so all the players could have been kicked out. And comming out of the toilet means you are not playing them anymore. So why was Théo sent out at that moment ?

Apparently Theo played rugby (source: Podcast #1).

What if he wanted to see the rugby fields before returning to WU hostel? This could explain why he went into Kingsley and Tennyson.
At 23:07 he is seen on cctv walking beside CM in Kingsley st. (walking towards Tennyson and therefore the rugby fields)
At 23:08, still in Kingsley he looks up WU hostel on Google maps (source: Podcast #3) and proceeds his way from Kingsley to Tennyson.

He reaches the end of Tennyson and stops for 7 minutes (source: Podcast #3)
He might have been looking at the fields and/or there might have been some gathering over there that held him up.
Gatherings are common at the end of Tennyson (source: Podcast #3) by (criminal) youngsters

The rugby club is situated at the corner of Tennyson and Carlisle street. I believe it's the Byron Bay Football Club?
Drugs and homeless at soccer fields
"Over the last five years there has been a steady increase in homeless people sheltering around the clubhouse"
"They come with all their baggage and leave it behind, coming back later.
"It stinks of urine and alcohol and numerous times we clean it up."
