MO MO - Melissa Peskey, 40, shot and killed, Boonville, 13 Dec 2018

"CHATSWORTH—Family and friends of Chatsworth native Melissa Peskey are raising funds to be offered as money reward for any information given related to Peskey’s murder.

More than $2,200 of a $10,000 goal has been raised so far via an onlie ******** page.

“We are raising money to build a reward for the person or people who come forward with information that leads to the arrest of our beautiful daughter, sister, mother and friend. She deserves justice,” said a statement from the Facebook event page for the fundraiser.

....

The highway patrol has not said when the gunshot occurred — whether it was fired before or after the SUV crashed — because of the ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement also has not re--vealed where on her body Melissa was shot, what kind of firearm was utilized in the shooting and whether her vehicle was moving at the time the shooting occurred."

...

Melissa Peskey's death still unsolved

Thanks for that update. JMO, it sounds like they are still considering this a suspicious death if they're not revealing these details.

Also good to know the news media is still paying attention to this case.

It is still getting covered in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota area too. Keloland did a story about the fundraising but it had less info than the one I shared.

I think Melissa's family has done a good job of keeping the media reporting about this case...at least locally anyway.

RSBM. I notice that doesn’t say “wife.” Food for thought.

Melissa Peskey was shot and killed last December, while driving from her home in South Dakota on I-70, right outside of Boonville. This led to a car crash. Both of her children were in the car at the time but were not injured. Sgt. Scott White said when the Highway Patrol got to the scene, they thought Peskey died because of an accident.

"Based on the evidence at the scene, it didn't appear that she had actually died in the crash," Sgt. White said. "Further investigation revealed that she had actually died of a gunshot wound, and that gunshot was fired from outside the vehicle."

Sgt. White says this wasn't an accident.

"This has not been an accident," Sgt. White said. "This was not an accidental shooting where someone was hunting and accidently shot across the interstate."

The reward money came from a fundraiser the family held. Peskey's sister Kara Renken says she knows someone has the answers the family needs.

"She wasn't alone on the road that night," Renken said. "Someone knows something."
UPDATE: Compensation for anyone with information on Melissa Peskey's murder case

“SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Missouri State Patrol investigators are in South Dakota this week looking into the Melissa Peskey murder.

The Missouri State Patrol also has investigators in two unnamed states looking into the crime.”

Hmmmm...

The Missouri State Patrol provided the following statement to KELO.com News:

  • Unfortunately, as we tell all media outlets, when it is an ongoing investigation, we are not permitted to discuss facts of the case. I will tell you that we are still diligently working the case with multiple other agencies. We, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, actually have officers in your state and two other states, this week, working on the investigation.
