Stephanie Parze disappearance: Facebook posts under investigation

Quotes from article:

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - A Facebook post from the man with the screen name "John Oz" shows a meme of a cartoon character using a shovel to dig a hole.

The July 5 meme is included in a post that reads "when she says 'choke me daddy' and you get carried away and now she's dead." The post is headlined "you win some you lose some."

The meme is of the cartoon character "Arthur," a glasses-wearing aardvark from a popular children's show of the same name.

That post to a private Facebook group called "My Couch Pulls Out But I Don't" is one of several postings from Oz that authorities are now investigating as they continue the probe into the disappearance of Stephanie Parze, law enforcement sources with close knowledge of the investigation said.

The profile picture used for John Oz on Facebook and in the private "Couch" group is a photo of John Ozbilgen, the 29-year-old Freehold Township man with whom Parze said she was in a relation

Stephanie Parze’s dad, Ed Parze, addressed the media earlier where I’m told he said the search is not a criticism of the work police have done but rather to add to it. Aside from today’s search, authorities have searched for Parze two times on Staten Island.

According to his lawyer, the charge they were holding him on was insufficient to justify holding him for 11 days.

This is disturbing news IMO. Absolutely don't understand how there was not one SHREAD of evidence to tie him to the missing victim such that he could have been held on suspicion. Not sure what is going on here. Was their no forensic evidence in the car or victims house?

Stephanie Parze: Freehold Township woman missing; police looking for answers

Monmouth County investigators continued their search for Stephanie Parze, a 25-year-old Freehold Township resident who has been missing since Wednesday night.

As her family and friends answered phone calls, greeted visitors and printed out missing person's fliers, a portrait of Stephanie emerged that looked much like a typical 25-year-old trying to find her path.

She graduated from Freehold Township High School, playing catcher on her high school softball team. She went on to study cosmetology and art, leading to jobs as a wax specialist at European Wax Center in Freehold Township and as a professional makeup artist at L.A. Artistry in Jackson, according to her Facebook page.

Freehold missing woman: Ex-boyfriend sent expletive-laced texts night before she vanished

Quotes from article:
During the missing person investigation, prosecutors said they learned that Ozbilgen was Parze's on-again, off-again boyfriend and that Parze was the victim in a simple assault charge filed against Ozbilgen on Sept. 23, where he allegedly struck Parze in the head.

While investigating, authorities also noticed marks around Ozbilgen's neck, Sidley said in court.

Also during that investigation, police learned that Parze told others that she was in fear for her life because he continued to have contact with her after that Sept. 23 incident, prosecutors said in court.

Ozbilgen was in Freehold Township Municipal Court on Nov. 6, a week after Parze's disappearance, on that simple assault complaint. The hearing, however, was postponed until Dec. 17.

Prosecutors also revealed that Ozbilgen has a restraining order against him from a previous relationship in New York, but provided no other details. Sidley said the fact Ozbiglen has three domestic violence allegations against him this year, with three separate victims, and the child *advertiser censored* charge would make it unsafe for the community if he was released. Ozbilgen has to report to the court in person and by phone twice a month, and is barred from using the internet or any drugs, according to the release order.

Ozbilgen’s attorney, Robert A. Honecker Jr., had argued that the sole charge of possession of child *advertiser censored* did not warrant Ozbilgen remaining in custody.

Prosecutors said they found 10 images of child *advertiser censored* on Ozbilgen's phone, including sexually graphic images of toddlers.

Sounds like NJ has something in common with CT

"More than 170 volunteers descended on Michael J. Tighe Park in Freehold Township on Wednesday morning to search for Stephanie Parze, the 25-year-old who has been missing for three weeks.

The civilian search was organized by the family with help from fire departments across Monmouth County. Dozens of people bundled in warm clothes could be seen standing around 10:30 a.m. at the perimeter of a wooded area near softball fields ready to search.

Law enforcement from as far as Baltimore were assisting in the operation, said Edward Parze, a former dispatch trainer and Freehold Rescue Squad member.

Two other locations, which the family is not disclosing, are also being searched Wednesday. All the locations are being targeted on based on tips from the community, Parze said."

"We're hopeful," said Ed Parze, Stephanie's dad, who organized the search at Michael J. Tighe Park. About 175 friends, family members and even strangers, some from as far away as New York and Florida, came to the park to hunt for Stephanie, who was last seen by her family after an outing on Oct. 30. Another 25 volunteers were working behind the scenes.

"It’s bittersweet," he said of the search. "You want to find something but you don’t want to find something. If you do find something right away you’re energized, you know, you’re like ‘OK what did we find,’ but then you’re hoping it's not the wrong thing that you’re finding.”

Absolutely heartbreaking. I can’t even imagine.

JMO but where I work, missing a day unplanned isn't cause for firing someone. However, multiple occurrences over a few months could. If he had all these assault charges over the last few months, that would make sense on why he was let go. Once, okay, but this happening multiple times... They could just tell you don't bother coming back. And that's probably before they knew his girlfriend was missing. Very suspicious.

Snipped by me for brevity.

Worrisome that they haven't charged him yet but I am guessing that since they had a prior relationship, it makes it harder to use any DNA found in her home or his car against him. IDK what the parameters are for an ankle bracelet. I am guessing that the crime he has been charged with doesn't merit such in the eyes of the law. His attorney could potentially argue that he is not a threat to the public at large.....just women who make the mistake of dating him and he was treated differently than others arrested for the same crime.
