Woman wearing Beauty and the Beast pyjamas goes missing in South Yorkshire

"Lorraine Fowlds, 48, was last seen near her home address in the Kingsway Grove area of Thurnscoe in Barnsley.

It is believed that she may have left in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, January 11) at 2am.

She is described as having dark (brown)* hair and is believed to be wearing Beauty and the Beast pyjamas as well as a pink zip up top."

*Corrected by me, article misspelled "brown" as "down".

The weather was atrocious here in Leeds last night, howling winds blowing stuff all over the place. How was it down the road?
It's been really windy here today Cags but I don't recall it being too bad last night. Only started raining here a few hours ago and it wasn't super windy this morning while I was walking the dog. It's not great at the moment though, I hope wherever Lorraine is she's indoors and safe :(

For those who don't know, I'm very local to this missing person and know the area well. I will try to describe the area a little, obviously everything I say about the area is just MOO etc.

I know there would have been no buses running at night time when Lorraine is believed to have disappeared and getting a taxi around here is difficult even during the day time (unless it's booked well in advance) never mind at 2am. I believe the last bus would have departed around 11pm and the next buses would start running again around 5am.

The main road (Houghton Road) near Lorraine's address has lots of shops - I would assume most have CCTV. It's a very busy road during the day but obviously less so at night although I would say there's usually always still a few cars around whatever time of night. The small Asda store just around the corner from Lorraine's address definitely has CCTV, although I'm not sure it points towards the main road, I think it just covers the car park and entrance to the store but that's just MOO.

Within a mile walking distance in any direction there is a hell of a lot of open fields and wooded areas. There is a reservoir in Thurnscoe but there aren't any rivers very close to her address. The nearest one would be the River Dearne but that's over a mile away.

The weather here has been fairly decent the last few days, mild and cloudy/sunny but windy at times. Last night IIRC it didn't rain but may have been a bit blustery. This morning it was cloudy but mild. This afternoon it was the same but began to get VERY windy late afternoon and then started raining early evening. The weather forecast for the next couple of days is supposed to be rainy.

That's all I can think of for now.

@Sera thanks for the local input. If someone with very limited mobility wanted to hurt themselves where would they go? You mention a reservoir, do you know if there have been any searches there?

RSBM.

The reservoir is around a mile away from Lorraine's address and Google says it would take 19 minutes to walk there. I don't know for sure about any searches that may or may not have taken place at the moment. Another local said that the police helicopter was hovering over Phoenix Park this afternoon for an hour or so but it's not known whether that was just a coincidence or related to searching for Lorraine. Phoenix Park is quite a large park in East Thurnscoe, again about a mile away from Lorraine's address but on the opposite side of the main road to the reservoir. I walk my dog there sometimes and it takes quite a while to walk around the whole place. It's not lit up whatsoever at night time and it's mostly sandy/gravel paths with grass and trees either side of the paths. There's a big ditch running through it that my husband once told me he thought was supposed to be/used to be a stream but now there's no water so it's literally just a big ditch running through the park. As I say, it's not lit at night so if you were to walk through it you'd have no visibility at all, unless you took a torch/used your phone light to see where you were going.

There's a small park behind where Lorraine lives which I would assume LE would have checked out straight away but it's pretty tiny and I don't think anyone would go there if their intention was to not be found.

I honestly don't know where someone would go locally if, to put it kindly, they had no intention to return home but Phoenix Park would be my immediate thought.

I don't know exactly how limited Lorraine's mobility is though so I'm not sure if she'd be able to walk a mile in the middle of the night in her pyjamas. :(
