Sorry @Popejohn3, I'm a bit confused. Do I personally think drugs may have been involved or were you referring to MW-T's thoughts in the book?
Yes I was referring to the sentence ‘he thinks many were involved
I still hope you answer my question thanks

The exact quote from the book is: "I think a number of people were responsible for her disappearance and murder. They know who they are and they're walking amongst us. If enough pressure was applied, you could probably get the answer there."

So clearly he's full of it, because it sure seems like an awful lot of pressure was applied to a lot of the Nag's Head's patrons.

Is that what you were asking, @Popejohn3 ? or my personal opinion on what happened to Claudia?

@keep-it-real:
If you check google maps there is a street view from Oct 2009 showing an older style school crossing post. No electronic signage was in place then and not sure a car would slow down at that time of morning for a school crossing red triangle sign. Something caused that car to slow down/stop.
I agree, I know I've been through those sort of roads where they change from 30mph to 20mph and if it's not school hours I don't slow down to 20mph MOO

Thank you for that reply. We know what he thinks but I’m more interested to know what you think

This is MOO, pure speculation.

I think there was something nefarious going on in or around that pub. Probably not involving the pub itself, but the patrons. I think a group of patrons had something illegal going, and I think Claudia either knew all about it or was involved. My first thought is drugs. Not cannabis, but the hard stuff. I think for some reason, she needed to be out of the way. Was she threatening to go to the police? Did she just know too much from pillow talk? Could she have been working as a CI with the police and someone figured it out?

I've also considered some sort of money laundering or some other sort of financial crime, since so many of the patrons seemed to be involved in some aspect of the building trades.

Let's face it, girlfriend had a super messy romantic life. Seems like a lot of overlapping within her friend group and she wasn't averse to married guys. But she seemed to move on easily from relationships, so I don't think she would have angered someone enough over her romantic exploits to make her disappear because it doesn't seem like she had long term serious let's partner up type relationships. (Trying to be non-victim shaming and tactful.)

Again, only my opinions.

I don’t buy into the notion that ‘many’ are involved in the disappearance of CL
Yes boozing went on ,drugs possible ( IMO )
After all we picked up the unflattering title ‘UK is the drugs capital of Europe ‘
And when you get these things usually sex comes into it .
And where there is sex jealousy is not far away. ‘Jealousy is a dangerous thing bro ‘
Said Del Boy once !
I bet just one single person knows what happened to Claudia.
But Claudia could have given a name or most probably a nickname to one of her mates .
‘Oh I’m meeting jj tonight ‘
Who is jj ?
Oh you don’t know him !

So, @Popejohn3 , you think it was strictly a romantic thing gone awry?

I think part of the biggest problem with Claudia's case is that we don't seem to really know who she was seeing romantically at that time, do we?

You mean the ‘mystery ‘new boyfriend .

There certainly appears to be a lot going on around the Pub and its patrons if the things said about them are true.. But of all the things I found strange was the mention of 'traffiking ' on the tv programme it presented in a way that CL could have been traffiked and then interviewed SS in Cyprus, it was said he made regular trips back to the UK and The Nags Head (one trip he had picked up a number of vehicles from Scotland and transported them to Cyprus). Could the Nags Head with its letting rooms have provided overnight accom for a traffiking operation and could CL have offered a safe house for lone persons within that operation.. Its just a thought but it may offer a reason why two men and seperately another man on his mble phone with a rucksack were seen at her doorway, when she answered the door to the single man she was said to have looked surprised and looked both ways before he entered.
I always wondered how she supported her lifestyle if she had even a small mortgage, owning and running a car, holidays and out socialising 4 sometimes 5 days on occassion drinking heavily and girls do like their clothes it all costs money would a chefs salary be sufficient?
If anything went wrong within her 4 walls could it have been because it was done by an illegal .. if so the illegal that would turn to the people running the operation and it would be the people running the operation that would have to do the clean/coverup.

I think since Claudia lived by herself, she would have told someone about the mystery one . Even if just a nickname or what he does for a living .

@keep-it-real , I wondered about her finances, as well. All those pub nights had to be expensive; my husband and I aren't huge boozers but it's really easy to drop 50+ quid on a pub night just drinking beer & gin & tonics. I've read in several articles she shopped almost exclusively at Next, which isn't Primark prices. I always guessed her dad may have helped her financially. Paid her charge cards, or helped with her house payment, gave her money for holidays, made her car payments, something along those lines.

The dude who knocked & she looks around before he comes in, yeah, what were they up to? Why so sneaky? Who did she not want to see him? Why not?

@Popejohn3, I think that although maybe only person may have actually caused Claudia's disappearance, I think there were others involved in the aftermath. Either disposing of her body or helping cover the crime in other ways.

I find it incredible that after this much time, with all the people who saw her all the time, no one knows nuttin, YKWIM?

I wonder, whether it would make sense, that PL regularly met with his daughter of all places at the NH, if "the builders" had something illegal going on ......

Good point, @FromGermany . I'd forgotten her father specialized in that type of law. And really, does the Nag's Head seem like a place a lawyer would hang out just to socialize? Or at least one of his age? If he was younger, maybe, if it was just his local.

He probably went there (NH) simply to have a drink and a chat with his daughter and meet current boyfriend

I reckon that DS Sean Memory could solve this case - he found Chris Halliwell's deposition site (pond) near Swindon.

@keep-it-real It was Robbie Campbell who made the trip with vehicles from Glasgow, he went via Liverpool and says he passed York but didn't stop. Yes SS also made regular trips back as George Foreman was his ex business partner and they had been friends for many years. I support the trafficking but not of people kind
