"Yes, because my sister didn't typically drink. We've been around each other our whole entire life and she was not a drinker. I don't know, she was on a cruise on vacation and to my knowledge I talk to the company and they serve like a run punch or something. At the end of the day I don't know. I wasn't there. It's not typical, like it doesn't say to me oh gosh she was drinking, it's just I don't know. I will say it's not like her to be intoxicated. Maybe have a drink, but to be intoxicated, I've never seen her drunk in my life. When I talk to Raggamuffin Tours there was a woman that I spoke to on the phone her name was Charlie and she told me that the captain of the tour was the last person to see my sister - that she was walking on the beach after everybody had gone to bed, which is not unusual. She is absolutely love the beach. She was afraid to swim in the ocean, but she loved the beach and and this is what the tour lady told me, not the police and not Paige - she said that the captain walker her back over to her tent and told her that she shouldnt be out at night and he made sure she got back in her tent, so and that was suposedly like 2:30 in the morning. So a report about 10pm at night is confusing to me."

This case sounds a bit suspicious. Was the boyfriend aware she was up and walked away from the tent only to be escorted back at 2:30 am?

What condition was she in when she was escorted back? The person who helped her will be a good source as to whether she was drunk, in a mixed-up state or taking a walk.

Where did the use of Ambien come from? Is it known if she took this and was she a regular user of it? If a new user, or first time user, she may very well had reactions like sleep walking from it.

Noting:
  • Information is that she was drinking on Friday night.
  • AM's sister says she had never seen her drunk a day in her life and she is appealing to the other 13 passengers who must have seen something.
  • Her personal belongings were found on the island.
  • There is nothing to suggest that any craft or anything is missing at this time.

“We have talked to the boyfriend. Me and my mom have both talked to him. He is still in Belize. And no we don’t think that he is involved. He is just as distraught as the rest of the family is.”

What we do know about Alison MacKenzie is that she has experienced tremendous grief last year – with the deaths of her father and step-father. She came to Belize with her boyfriend on an extended stay to get away for a while. We have learnt that she and her boyfriend had plans to buy a property in southern Belize. The couple has been in Belize since December of last year and scheduled to return to the USA in May of this year.

“She was just coming there because our father passed away last year and then our step-father passed away two months ago. So, she was just going there to try to get a break from life here. Just take a little break from things and regroup and find some peace for a little while.”

No, Ambien is not known in this case. It was just a possibility, a suggestion by me that it could have been the reason for erratic behavior or disappearing into water. We recently had another case where we think that’s what happen.

So supposedly, she was walked back to her tent at 2:30 am and PR said he got up at 6 am and she was gone. 3 1/2 hours and there is no place to hide on that island.

I think someone was just supposing Ambien as a possible reason for her erratic behavior. MOO
Gotcha.

Ill tell ya tho, my sister was on Ambien for a short while. She drake Micalobe Ultra with it. She was so bizarre it freaked us all out. If she would have opened the back door and decided she needed to take a walk at 2am that wouldn't have surprised me.

I did want to say that I’m pretty sure the Ragamuffin Tour Company has everyone’s name. Everyone probably had to sign a waiver not holding the company responsible in case something happened, that everyone participated at their own risk. Plus, they probably had everyone’s credit card numbers and addresses for payment. So getting ahold of the other people who were on the catamaran shouldn’t be a problem. IMO

The United States Embassy is aiding in the investigation, the Courier reported. The Prescott police are unable to help because the incident appears to be contained to Belize, Sgt. Gary Novak with the Prescott Police Department told the outlet.

I bolded the name of this police Sargent because I know him. He was about 7 years old when I met him. He played Little League with my kids. He was one of my daughter’s best friends. She was between boyfriends her senior prom so she took Gary as her prom date. fyi

Wow this is scary. It’s baffling to me mostly b/c of the small, confined area where this occurred. It’s not like she’s hiding or someone buried her on that tiny exposed island. She HAS to be in the water. The only other thing is if someone took her away on a boat. But why?

My best guess is that she was intoxicated (not being a drinker but was reported to be drinking & I’ll just say from personal experience the rum punch in those touristy, tropical places is no joke!) and drunk/slept walked into the water. You would think they would have found her though.

One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is where the restrooms were and I wonder if possible she got up in the night to use the restroom?

Her sister indicated she was afraid of the water so I rule out her willingly getting in the water alone.

It just doesn't feel like foul play was involved in her disappearance, it would not make sense. Any sort of rum punch can be consumed quickly and in copious amounts. Even if she weren't a drinker it would have been easy for her to over indulge.

The Arizona woman and her boyfriend, fifty-eight-year-old Paige Rote, were on an overnight tour with Raggamuffin Tours on the caye.

HILBERTO ROMERO

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch [File: January 20th, 2020]

“Information is that they arrived on the island on Friday and they were camped on tents and she was last seen walking around the island around ten p.m. On Saturday, around six a.m., Paige Rote reported that when he woke up he couldn’t find his girlfriend and he made this report to the captain.”

But MacKenzie’s family members dispute the time that she was seen retiring to her tent. They report that she was seen going to bed after two on Saturday morning.

“Information was that sometime during the course of the night, Friday, she started behaving or acting somewhat suspicious.”

Andrea Polanco

“Are you able to elaborate – did she seem sad or overly excited -what was she showing?”

Lieutenant Roque Canul

“I would say kinda erratic – this is what we gathered from the tour guys who were out there along with them.”

I hope not. I hope they were interviewed thoroughly and asked these questions:

How far apart were tents? Did anyone see them retire for the night, on a walk, how much alcohol was consumed, anyone passed out drunk, see any arguments or flirtation during the trip?
There are actually more options for sleeping besides tents. See link below.

I really wish he would describe what he means when he states that she was acting kinda erratic.

A Prescott woman has been reported missing while vacationing with her boyfriend in Belize.

"Alison MacKenzie, 43, was on a catamaran tour off the coast of Belize when she disappeared Saturday morning, Jan. 18, said Cherie MacKenzie, Alison’s mother.

Cherie was told that Alison was last seen by her boyfriend, 58-year-old Paige Rote, Friday night while they were camping with a group of other tourists on a very small island called Rendezvous Caye.

According to multiple newspapers in Belize, including The Reporter and Amandala, Rote told Belize authorities that when he woke up Saturday morning, MacKenzie was nowhere to be found."

Interview with her sister:
MISSING AMERICAN WOMAN…

Her Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/alison.mackenzie.146

Listen to the sisters interview. She says that Alison has been there for a month. That she is not known to be intoxicated ever, loves the beach but afraid of the water. She also says that a Charlie (female) with the tour, Raggamuffin tours told her that the captain of the tour saw her on the beach and escorted her back to her tent at 2:30 am. This lady is the only one to have told her this, not the authorities or the boyfriend.

Oh so sad.

I really wish he would describe what he means when he states that she was acting kinda erratic.
I just finished typing that same thing!
It just doesn't feel like foul play was involved in her disappearance, it would not make sense. Any sort of rum punch can be consumed quickly and in copious amounts. Even if she weren't a drinker it would have been easy for her to over indulge.

I’ll tell you why it does to me.

She is said to have been last seen at 10 by police but other reports (Charlie from raggamuffin tours told the sister) say captain escorted her back at 2:30. If we just go with the 10 being the last time and her being in the tent at 10 let’s think about this.(Source, originally contained in quote below)https://fbwat.ch/1tfl0Atwk6UJV1BK

... you’re sleeping in a small tent, outside, on sand, no air conditioning, you don’t normally sleep like this , you're middle aged or older and you’re really not going to wake up once before 6 am and recognize your partner is gone? And if she did leave, you’re not going to hear her unzipping tent and getting up?

......
describing her behavior as erratic? Yet can’t say what the heck erratic means? What even does erratic mean? I think those tour guys would
know what drunk looks like and they didn’t use that term and no reports of that from her boyfriend? How late into the evening was alcohol available? (Source for erratic 3 Days Later – Alison MacKenzie is Still Missing! | Channel5Belize.com )
Yet her sister says she’s NEVER seen her drunk. Middle aged women know what it feels like to drink too much and know to stop when they feel that way, if they want to.

Other thoughts-
Was there any drug use by anyone- boyfriend, captain or Alison? Or prescription drug use? Just noting that smoking marijuana is legal in Belize. GOB passes law to decriminalize 10 grams of marijuana - The San Pedro Sun
........even though reports say she was scheduled to return in May that may just be when she has to return on passport. (Just a thought not a suspicion)
........I have to walk a fine line in sleuthing non POI’s but I really want to know if they were traveling with others they were acquainted with on this trip and what else happened on their trip.

Help me out with my assumption. But facts are- middle or older aged- sleeping in tent- don’t normally sleep in tent-sleeping on sand - there is no a/c.

The only question or assumption I made was that you would hear a partner get up or you would wake up. I agree there are things that make it harder to wake up. Earplugs, and intoxication. Yet, going to sleep at 10 intoxicated most normally means you’re getting up to go to the bathroom at some point before 6, I would think? And being almost 60, to me would mean you are not sleeping well in a tent.
