I’ve got the detective’s info saved and ready for Monday! He seems very motivated! It sounds like he’s very much willing to investigate any lead. I also got to looking around Ancestry and it looks as though Mary Jane has quite a few relatives who are actively searching! Doe Network shows her DNA as “unknown” but I saw that several children/grandchildren had submitted their samples, so that’s great to know!

I forgot to mention that somewhere on one of her relative’s tree I saw it mentioned that SSDI or some bit of information they had dug up listed Kentucky as a previous or last known residence! It’s an interesting in itself. But I’ll email the detective Monday morning, I’m sure it won’t take long to hear back from him.

Stacey Lynn Balas

Missing from Fairview Park, Ohio since Nov. 1996 - 25 years old, 5’5-5’6”, 135 lbs., brown hair, blue eyes
- Was in a serious car accident in ‘88 and suffered severe head trauma causing her to have the mental capacity of a 15 year old and stress-induced amnesia
- Her employer was charged with her murder after he confessed to strangling her at her work and dumping her in a trash bin. Her body has never been found. He initially pleaded not guilty but finally changed his plea (in 2006...hmm) and was sentenced to 20 years.

Fairview Park is no short distance from Shively (5 1/2 hours) and Stacey’s killer was convicted of raping another woman only 3 months after her disappearance, so first impression is that he doesn’t seem like one who’d go to great lengths to cover up a crime. That, or he’s good at it and there are more victims out there.

Still haven’t heard back about Mary Jane. I hadn’t seen this MP before but she reminds me of Shively... I’m not sure her nose would be considered narrow?

- “Jacobwitz was living in the 12400 block of Great Park Circle in Germantown, Maryland at the time of her disappearance, but she apparently left that area in November or December 2002. She did not have access to a car at the time of her disappearance. There has been no activity on her bank accounts since February 2003. Jacobowitz was estranged from her family at the time of her disappearance, but she kept in contact with her two small children, who live with her parents. Jacobowitz's family reported her missing on May 13, 2003 when she missed one of her children's birthdays, something she had never done before.”

- 24 years old, 5’2”-5’5”, 105 lbs., blond/strawberry/brown hair & brown eyes
- She was missing all but 5 bottom teeth & wore upper dentures. There’s no mention specifically about the UID teeth other than dentals are available

Phenix City, Alabama since Nov. 1994
- 54 years old, 5’3”, 150 lbs., Short brown/auburn hair & brown eyes (outside of the age range)
- “She called her daughter in Columbus, Georgia, to wish her a Happy Thanksgiving. She told her daughter that she was going to Jerusalem to get married and would be returning the following Sunday. The daughter thought she was joking as Piper was not dating anybody. The daughter does not know who her mother was planning to marry.

Her car, a 1991 blue Mitsubishi hatchback, was found approximately one week later at the Columbus, Georgia airport in long term parking. There was no evidence that she had a plane ticket to anywhere and the ticket to the parking lot was never found.”

Yes, that is what they mean by a narrow nose. Though it appears Stacy's is quite a lot more hooked at the tip than our Jane Doe's is, Jane was completely skeletal and the nose tip shown in the reconstruction is a best guess. Sometimes there are skeletal markers that hint at what the shape of the nasal cartilage might have been, but that's not always accurate.

That's a really weird story about Stacy's disappearance. Two friends and the mother of one of them all disappear together, without taking anything with them, and with no signs of violence? Very weird. It's about 7-8 hours from Springfield Missouri to Shively (outside of Louisville), so kind of far to dump a body, but pretty easy to get to.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Brittney. It doesn’t sound like there’s a possibility for a good outcome, so I’ll keep her in mind. Poor girl. There are just too many!
