The British Royal Family

But they aren’t seeing each other, when they can. I now feel like a prying eye, but from what I’ve seen (and I don’t go
googling the royal family on a daily basis to see what they are up to, nor do I follow anything). They aren’t meeting up and introducing their son to any of the RF. i have never been for a weekend to visit my parents or in-laws and not taken their grandchild for at least a short cuddle. I honestly think it’s sad, and I think a lot of people fear that it may not be the positive, optimistic thing they both hope for.

BBM If that were true, we would not have seen photos of Meghan and Harry and Archie at the polo match, or photos of the christening.

We have no way of knowing what private time might have been spent with their aunts and uncles and cousins. If one relies on the UK tabloid press for "facts", they are certainly limiting themselves.

Imr, here is the documentary. Last eight minutes or so is what is being referred.
Never seen that interview until now, but would love a psychologist who knows body language to review it. She never answers a question (I did only watch from 8 minutes to the end) with an answer. Having watched the end part as a military wife though, it has again reduced my sympathy towards her. We move culture to culture, house to house, have children on our own- no one asks us, we just get on with it. I also think the American military families have it even harder than us.
Separate moan I know lots of local people in our community who fundraiser and volunteer. Donate your wealth, live frugally. Volunteer your time and make change happen. Assuming you are famous enough and advocating a charity is no longer good enough. Do a marathon and ask for donations, have a bake sale.
Flying out on a private jet somewhere and shaking hands isn’t enough and that is the difference between Kate and Meghan. Kate goes out and socialises with other school parents, she helps design children’s gardens at flower shows and then lets her children play in them to advocate play.

So if famous people express difficulties they have as new mothers that's "whining" and reflects negative on them?

Man, we have really become a judgmental and cruel world. People can't even express normal human emotions without others jumping on them and criticizing. These are humans. Humans aren't perfect. It's nice that some in the public eye are brave enough to be honest.

Nothing wrong with honesty. I remember when Brook Shields’ book was published about postpartum depression. She really shined a light on an issue that millions of mothers could relate to. And didn’t talk about.

What I came away with in the documentary was Meghan’s dissatisfaction with the BRF. So, she kind of eclipsed herself and instead the issue being about new motherhood and new marriage was a place of vulnerability, difficulty which everyone can understand, she made it about a mini list of grievances. And complaining no one asked about how she was doing. As an American, I thought that was dishy, and bad form to do that publicly.

And that’s what people took away.

The Royal family is a different standard. And while they’ve failed to meet that standard for themselves at times (Charles and Camilla) when it spills out in public it’s always magnified like Jupiter.

What is fascinating to me is how things land with people. There is the good, the bad, and the ugly as they say. But most of what I got from the reactions I saw was a sense that the British felt they were not good enough. The British have the emotional investment in their royalty.

We were not allowed to see photos of the christening( if you saw some please share). The polo match was the first and last time he met his cousins.
And hello magazine would definitely not class themselves as tabloid press.

Wow...just wow..
She was so taken aback that she was actually speechless...wow.
Firstly: MM should never have been put in that position.
Generally in an on screen interview, questions are agreed upon ahead of time.
This prevents the interviewee from being put on the spot and misspeaking and creating a PR nightmare like this. I don't think that she has had enough media training. She is young, a C lister actress and is simply inexperienced. Had Jennifer Anniston been in that situation...I can assure you she would have handled it very differently.
Secondly: I do feel for her. Being a new mom and a new princess...at the same time! I can't even imagine. But, air your grievances off camera! Insulting the British culture comes off as ungrateful. No, it was never OK for the press to treat her as they did, but she isn't helping matters.
OK...end of rant!!:p

FYI, she wasn't taken off guard. The "reporter" is a personal friend of Harry's and does personal coverage for them. He was specifically tasked with doing this documentary with them. Another reason why it's offensive.

I can't wait to see Catherine at the BAFTA's this year!!

Was just reading that theres a dress code of sustainability so you have to rewear/rent/wear vintage/buy sustainable. So I imagine we'll see a rewear. Its such a pity shes such a different height and body shape to TQ, she had some great evening dresses back in the day that would now be vintage.

Did anyone else see at the 2018 Noble's when Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden wore her Mothers old gown, I love that. The dresses the royals wear are such high quality its nice to see them get new owners

Great perspective...thank you.
After having had a very brief fore in the entertainment industry, I have to say that I have known many girls like her. It's almost like she is saying, "What's wrong with these British people?! This is not working for me." Which it clearly is not. But my guess is that she does not know how to make "true" friendships. And please know that I am not making excuses for her...I'm simply analyzing.
Unlike Kate and yourself, she lacks the life skills to create a support network. She has struggled to get to where she is and does not trust easily. So now that she is a "fish out of water", she has no idea how to swim.

Ok...just to clarify. Do you know if she was aware of the questions that he was going to ask? Because she actually glanced away a couple of times...to gather her thoughts.
Really curious....

Honestly I don’t, but protocol
Is they are given the questions. That is pretty much always the case and if not, and I struggle to believe that is the case, she would have agreed to not know the questions.

I'm sure she was, partly because, if they didn't want those questions and answers in there, they would have edited them out. They had total control over the content.

Whaaat?? I'm floored

Watch Wednesday on ABC: ‘Royal Divide | Harry, Meghan & The Crown’
Harry & Meghan – What Happened Behind Palace Doors? What Happens Next? ‘Royal Divide | Harry, Meghan & The Crown’ the Event Special premieres Wednesday at 10|9c on ABC.

Very interesting that this was put together so soon. Since it’s an American TV special, I wonder if PH and MM’s PR team is behind it as damage control? I have a feeling it may be slightly more favorable to PH and MM since it originates here, rather than on British television. JMHO

I also don’t think the Queen will be excited to see all of this openly discussed on American television ... I believe she would prefer everything stay behind Palace doors ... again, just my own personal opinion.
