Are there that many differences in kids socks unless maybe they marked Gannon's socks with his initials or something?
Funny, I thought the exact same thing.

Mom of 9 here  and on my planet, all of the kids wore your basic, run of the mill girl's or boy's socks when they were all Gannon's age.

Unless marked or some special pair of socks there's no way I would be able to recognize a random, "road sock" as one belonging to one of my kids.

I have to wonder though, did AS just tell her that out of the blue, or did LE instruct him to tell her that, to determine what her reaction would be? (maybe that's already been discussed, I've missed a LOT of pages of discussion).

My youngest, also a premie, has some sensory challenges - One of them being socks. I finally found some she could tolerate (blanking silk thread on the seams $$$). I could pick her socks out of a lineup all day!
I could too. But my husband couldn't. He doesn't do the laundry he's not in tune with my daughter socks. So for AS to recognize it was GS's sock, there had to be something different about it. Maybe cartoon characters, Sonic, G-Man Etc....

I thought there were two dogs.

You know, I’m a bit confused. I’m not sure which State Board screwed up. South Carolina or Colorado. First let’s start with if Colorado credibly accepted her as an out of state teacher or did she apply for new certification in CO. Here are the requirements:

Important notes: Colorado issues licenses/endorsements in one of two ways:
  • If you hold a valid teacher license (not substitute, temporary, emergency, provisional or probationary) issued by another state that carries an identical endorsement (subject matter and grade level(s)) to one issued by Colorado, meet the degree and program requirement for that endorsement, including student teaching and field experience, AND have three years of full-time licensed teaching experience in that state within the past seven years, Colorado will issue a professional license with the identical endorsement requested.
  • If you do not meet these requirements completely, Colorado is required to issue licenses in the endorsement area of preparation, as verified on an approved program verification form. If upon evaluation it is determined that you need to first pass a content exam in order to qualify for this endorsement, we will issue an interim authorization, which will allow you to teach while you prepare for and fulfill the exam requirement. (Upon submission of an application with a copy of the official test score report, we will then issue either an initial or a professional license, based on your years of out-of-state, licensed teaching experience)
2. What is an Interim Authorization?

If you hold or are eligible to hold a license in another state, you may qualify for an interim authorization, which Colorado state statute allows to be issued in certain instances when a candidate meets the degree and program requirements, but still needs to fulfill additional requirements (usually a content exam or exams) for a full Colorado license. This authorization is issued for one year and is renewable once.

**I’m trying to find the effective date of the Colorado teaching certificate. I really want the date of the CO application for credentialing.

The following does not make sense with the timeline:

On her Linked In profile, Letecia claims to have gone back to work after that suspension and worked as an Education Specialist for the state until 2018.

The Board of Education confirmed this, telling The Sun that Letecia took a job in Dorchester County in 2017, and the following year in Berkeley County.

She was certified to teach elementary school, special education and secondary social studies Colorado as of March 2019, but is unclear if she ever began at any schools in the area.

Eta:
Letecia Stauch was employed with Horry County Schools from November 2010 until she resigned on June 29, 2015, according to Lisa Bourcier, spokesperson for the district. Letecia Stauch started her employment in the district as a para-professional and held this position until 2012. She then worked as a special education teacher until her resignation.

Letecia Stauch has prior addresses in Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet and Mount Pleasant, S.C., and in Lumberton and Pembroke N.C., according to a public records search. She has also gone by the names Hardin and Hunt.
In South Carolina, Letecia Stauch was cited with domestic violence-first offense, a misdemeanor, in November 2010, but the case was dropped.
In North Carolina, she was placed on probation in 2001 and 2002, after being cited with communicating threats in February 2001, simple assault in April 2001 and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in June 2001, according to North Carolina state prison records. Details of those crimes, including where they were committed, weren’t available.

Letecia Stauch received a Colorado license to teach elementary school, special education and secondary social studies in March 2019, according to the Colorado Department of Education

She accused Hiott of contributing to what she called “harassment and retaliation” when she worked for seven days as a middle school social studies teachers in Marion County School District in South Carolina.

The South Carolina Board of Education suspended her educator certification to teach in May 2016 for six months for “breach of contract in abandoning her teaching duties” with the district.https://www.outtherecolorado.com/stepmom-arrested-in-murder-of-missing-gannon-stauch/

I'm not sure anyone screwed up or dropped the ball. I'm afraid it's a matter of not being able to see a pattern (except in hindsight) given the way background checks are done at this level. By "this level" I mean the checks aren't as rigorous as they might be for a top national security position. To change that would mean spending lots more money on schools. Yes, children are worth it but many states don't HAVE more money and may even have trouble paying for textbooks and basic supplies.

For example, as I've said before lots of TS's previous charges were dropped and did not result in convictions. At any rate, the letter sent to parents in CO said TS did pass a background check by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Her dismissal a few days before GS disappeared was for other application irregularities, whatever that means.

That said, I believe TS said she never got her SC license reinstated because they moved. Unfortunately licensure lookup in SC requires non-public info (last 4 SS #) so I don't know how to check that.

But TS was and is licensed in NC through 2021. She obtained the license 7/1/2016.

NCDPI Online Licensure System

So TS has been licensed in 3 states AND has been employed as a teacher in 3 states. (Meaning she passed initial muster at the local level as well as the licensure level.)

Does anyone know how long a body has to be dead for cadaver dogs to hit on it? Hours, days... ?

IMO,

Dogs have a keen sense of smell, they kind of smell everything x 1000 (made up number but you get my point). Imagine smelling a single rose vs. being in a floral shop of nothing but roses. Perhaps the difference between our nose vs. a dog.

HRD dogs are trained to zero in on human remains only, discard everything else and here’s a super important part, indicate a trained alert to their handler. The amount of training is incredible and it’s vital that the dog train on various types of human remains, in different environments, weather, locations, distraction levels and even the amount of odor. When a dog is working for the most part they are in negative air vs. target odor. Because in many searches the dogs are on they are eliminating what’s NOT there.

I don’t know the science behind the decomposition process after death or the timing but believe the process occurs differently depending upon on the environment (buried, underwater, open to oxygen, etc). A handler once told me a body releases over 300 chemicals during the decomp process. Perhaps someone can chime in in this.

IMO, people sometimes get disappointed in the dogs but there is just so much involved right down to the handler being partnered with the right dog, to the handler themselves, to the dog being a genetic dream, to the training, training & more training.

I know of some HRD dogs and handlers who were super stoked to train with donated placenta (thank you moms!) recently.

All my opinion.

I agree that LE needs professionals to do the current searching for GS, but as someone that desperately wants him to be found, I know it's frustrating. If nothing else, I hope that they would ask the homeowners that live along where they have tracked her, to search their own properties and notify them/not disturb anything that they may find. There is a current case in Missouri, where the husband drove for hours, during the overnight hours, before he reported his wife missing. They were able to track his route (even though they have only given us general locations), but they have charged him with murder, likely by strangulation. They have been searching an area with dive teams, because cadaver dogs hit in that area.

Also, when Mr. Allen was speaking yesterday about not revealing too much, in case another person was involved, got me thinking (which can be dangerous ). I never really considered that there was anyone else that helped to murder GS and I still don't! It's TS all the way on that. However, knowing how LS is and her need to control the story of her life, I can't see her sitting idly by and let AS divorce her, without her own backup plan. I would think that she already would have been creating her next "life". I just hope that if this is the case, that they wouldn't be so dumb as to become an unwilling participant in hiding the evidence.

Remember Scott Peterson hid his face or tried to look different because he didn't want Amber Frey to know he was married. (even tho he was responsible and his pregnant wife Laci was MISSING) ! I knew that interview reminded me of someone!!

Maybe Al didn't have to identify the sock. Maybe LE told him they found a bloody board and one of Gannon’s socks. They knew it was his because of dna results. I think a sock would have dna whether there was blood or not. I'm not yet sold on the board being the weapon. It's possible blood got on the board and she saw it and got rid of it. I think that's why she came up with the foot cut in the garage story, for sure though.
Yes.

Also I have been steering towards abuse that results in death. I'm still wondering if she took him out somewhere and left him knowing he would die out there because of the internal abuse he suffered.

I also wonder if she went in another direction and threw out things that were left over in the vehicle.

It is possible she omitted something either at the licensure level or at the application level at her very last CO job and that's what tripped her up there. The letter to parents from her other CO teaching job did say she passed the CBI check.

The very good info in the above links shows only convictions are required to be disclosed by applicants. Many of the arrests mentioned for TS did not result in convictions including the somewhat recent DV ones from the East coast.

I know people are justifiably angry she was a teacher. But barring people from jobs for alleged criminal behavior that didn't result in convictions probably isn't the solution either. And as clogged as the courts and jails tend to be, I'm not sure plea bargaining involving dropped charges will go away either.

I haven't really looked at her court house records, but that important distinction about convictions (or the lack of them) really matters, so thank you for pointing it out.

Although TS offer of employment with Academy District 20 was rescinded, she DID work at Widefield School District 3 last year ( the district GS’s school is in).
The district sent a notification to all staff and parents in the district on Thursday.

"Letecia Stauch was a substitute teacher in the district from March to May 2019," said Samantha Briggs, WSD3 Director of Communication. "She taught at French Elementary School from August to November 2019. She left the district in November."

Stepmom arrested in Gannon Stauch disappearance was fired from teaching job days before boy went missing

side note: I live on the same street as French Elementary and drive by it every day.

Does she have an actual teaching degree then? I’ve had a Sub License in Kansas and could fill in daily or long term when needed. Just questioning because I never had a teaching degree. In Kansas you can sub with an Associate’s and completing all of the paperwork, background check etc.

She still strikes me as...not that educated.

I had to fill something out to volunteer, I believe it was for a background check, but didn't provide fingerprints.

Cops should find out who she used as references on job apps and be very leery of whatever those people say. Maybe even interrogate them. Sociopaths have few friends, if any. They are usually more like victims or coconspirators.

Doga are amazing. Acheologists hire cadaver dogs to help them to find burial sites more than 2000 years old.

I understand why you say 'coconspirators' I've dealt with people like her and no matter how much they've 'bought into' the bs - they are VICTIMS, (aka codependents) I don't believe most are bad people. The are good people believing a very bad person's bad lies.

For all we know it was a 'hockey stick' which explains other info that I believe were just SM rumors AFAIK. MOO
I never saw that particular rumor but we all did see her walk out to the truck that dreadful morning with a tote that appeared to be the size of a sports gear bag, that might have actually contained a broken hockey stick (wood).

It would explain her pre-splain about mentioning Gannon liking hockey & going to the sports gear store that day, since there was literally no reason at all for her to mention hockey, unless she thought the public knew something or were about to know something about the hockey stick (like pre-splaining blood evidence in the garage & around the gate area).

Typing it out and reading it actually looks pretty nutty but... here we are. o_O
