New case from Ohio and boy is it an interesting one!
Hudson John Doe 2019 - DNA Doe Project Cases
On August 16, 2019 excavators unearthed a pine box on a real estate development site on Rosewood trail in Hudson, Summit County, Ohio. The box contained partially fossilized, skeletal human remains. Examination by Mercyhurst University indicated the remains belong to a white male, 40-70 years old, and that he had been buried for at least 50 to 75 years, perhaps much longer. According to Dr. Lisa Kohler, Summit County Medical Examiner, the area is not a cemetery, but there are reports that people were buried on the property in the mid-1800s.

Updates!
They have a new case, a John Doe from Charlotte, North Carolina. Discovered in 2008, undergoing extraction.
Hudson John Doe and both Hartford Jane Does are undergoing extraction.
Delafield John Doe, Swimsuit Boy, Evangeline Parish Jane Doe, Kenora Jane Doe, Summit County John Doe and Mr X are undergoing sequencing.
Kingsport John Doe and Alachua County John Doe are slated for additional extraction and/or sequencing.
Park County John Doe of Colorado is in bioinformatics.
The two stalled cases from Washington state are apparently gone!

Also, West Manchester John Doe and Charlotte John Doe are now undergoing sequencing.

In other news, they featured a video from Sheriff Chody of Williamson County, Texas.
He bought a DNA test for himself and another one is being given away as a prize.
Sheriff Chody was an adopted child apparently, I caught that part.
This is the county where Debra Jackson's and Sue Ann Huskey's remain were found.
The still unidentified ''Rebel Ray'' is also from this county.

Liv, are you in the mood to give us an analysis for the cases featured on the spreadsheet ?
We haven't had those in a while.

1. Allegan County John Doe has wonderful matches. His highest is 224.7 cM, so we should be expecting an ID soon if there are no problems.

2. Apache Junction has gained a highest match at 59.9 cM. There's still a ways to go but I'm still very happy for her.

3. Barron County John Doe 2017 was put onto the spreadsheet and his highest match is 101.9 cM. It's good but it may take a while.

4. Butler County John Doe had a surprising match come in. His new highest is 171.8 cM. He needs some work but this is a huge lead for him.

5. Kenosha John Doe has some pretty high matches. His highest, at the moment, is 81.9 cM, but that's really good for a POC.

6. Kings County Tarp Doe is doing okay. She had a match for 103.4 cM, who opted out, but it's still usable.

7. Parks County John Doe 1972 was added to the spreadsheet and his matches are good! His highest is 152.7 cM!

8. Rebel Ray's highest match went up to 55.7 cM. It's okay, but it's better than what he had.

9. Vernon County WI Jane Doe's highest match went up a little bit. Her matches suck but her new highest is 33.7 cM.

Huge update on their pinned Facebook post.
Quite a lot of cases have moved to bioinformatics, including: Delafield John Doe, Trabuco Canyon John Doe, La Vergne Jane Doe, Carson City Jane Doe, Van Buren County John Doe from 2010, Summit County John Doe and Jefferson County John Doe.
West Manchester John Doe and Kenora Jane Doe (Millie) are now active cases.
They also have several new cases:
• Ms. Startex 2011 (SC) NamUs #UP9422 at lab for extraction.
• Peter Kalama Ln Thurston Co Jane Doe2013 (WA) NamUs #UP12017 at lab for sequencing

They have five new cases as well.
Three are on their website, victims of Gary Ridgway.
Their pinned Facebook post has two Janes, one from Oklahoma and one from Michigan.

Someone asked on FB how COVID was affecting their work and Margaret said:

things are definitely slower! Supplies to lab, reduced shipping schedules, volunteers needing breaks. In a couple cases LE can't travel to notify next of kin in person. Until they do, no announcement.

Harper Jane Doe (1987)'s NAMUS profile has now been showing a permission error for over 2 weeks.

Hopefully that means she's been identified!

First case cleared smack from the Pending list. Kingsport John Doe was identified as Jerry Holbert of Charleston, West Virginia.

Man found dead in Kingsport in 2003 finally identified as missing West Virginia man

However, this identification was made by a citizen sleuther and not DNA Doe Project. The submission was made in mid June. Identity then confirmed via DNA match.

Holbert had dementia and apparently boarded the wrong bus. Instead of heading north to Ohio to visit a relative he ended up 200 miles south in Tennessee. That aspect obviously threw off the investigation and delayed identification.

Interesting that he was in Namus both under missing and unidentified but it took a citizen sleuth to figure it out. Did they not have DNA under both?

Maybe the DNA was two different types so not auto-matched. Or DNA had not yet been taken from Mr Holbert's family as there are plenty of cases in the system without . Or maybe the parameters LE put into Namus (ie: flag all MPs from within *advertiser censored* miles) were too restrictive to capture his record in the mix. I'm guessing we'll never know, but hopefully this triggers a review of other UIDs within the same jurisdiction to see if others can be matched by LE.

I have to wonder how many does are possibly tentatively identified due to this, if any. I feel like the Tom Green County Doe and Plainview Doe could have possibly been since there's been no updates on the spreadsheet for them and it's been months since they entered the research phase.
