Human skeletal remains found near Heavener

HEAVENER, Okla. — Land owners found human skeletal remains on their property near Heavener Thursday afternoon, Sgt. Terry Winn, with the LeFlore County Sheriff's Office, told 40/29 News.

They found the remains in the woods on their land near Highway 128.

The remains were sent to the Medical Examiner's Office for investigation.

Winn was not able to say if there were any signs of foul play. Investigators do not yet know how long the remains were on the property.

Human remains found in LeFlore County near OK Feed Mill plant

HEAVENER, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — The LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office confirms human remains were found Thursday afternoon.

Undersheriff Donnie Edwards said a skull and other human bones were found southwest of Heavener in an area close to the OK Feed Mill plant off Highway 128.

Back on April 15, 2019, the Sheriff’s Office issued a Silver Alert for Harold Snyder, 83. He was reported missing on April 11 at 9 a.m. He was wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans, brown cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat.

Edwards was not able to say if the remains were those of Snyder.

As of 9 a.m. Friday t LeFlore County medical examiner was at the scene exhuming the remains.

Investigators are unsure of foul play or how long remains have been there.
This is so sad. :( I have wondered for so long what happened to Harold.

If this is him, it highlights the reason it is so important for residents and businesses to search their properties - outbuildings, abandoned vehicles, wooded areas - when someone is missing. MOO

I've added Runestone State Park to the map. It's about 3 miles from the OK Feed Mill. Google Maps
