What does the double asterix after Douglas County's 14 indicate?

Yes, I am a Jayhawk.

If readers are not familiar with the great state of Kansas, Johnson County is essentially a part of Kansas City & has a high population density.

Ad Astra per Aspera!

Does Kansas not alphabetize its counties? A bit hard to follow, with 105 of them.

No idea why they don't alphabetize, definitely confusing though because I was looking for my county (Pottawatomie) down near the bottom but then realized it's actually toward the top:rolleyes:

They're not even geographically contingent; I fail to see why they would do this. Did we outlaw the alphabet?

@Boston Corbett & @Ksprincess2 - In alphabetical order for each county. List includes only counties with positive or presumptive cases.

What happens when a city's hospital closes 'without warning' during a pandemic
(Guardian)
Group of doctors and nurses in Kansas city of Wellington are improvising ways to battle the coming pandemic with little guidance and not much equipment
This fellow was referred to in the piece above. ('Some local officials in other parts of Kansas have not helped either. Rick Whitson, emergency management director and fire chief of a county to the east of Wellington, drew scorn for a Facebook post denouncing what he called “panicked hysteria” around coronavirus which he said has “been around since the 60s”.')

Last week, Montgomery County Emergency Management Director Rick Whitson warned of “a far more nefarious and evil epidemic out there and it’s called fear and panic!”

“I am not supposed to say this but I must, unless there is a dramatic shift for the worst, (and I doubt it) when this is past we will reflect on it and shake our heads, realizing that it was a ridiculously disproportionate overall response to the threat,” Whitson said in a March 12 post on his public Facebook page that was shared more than 900 times.

His comments drew plenty of praise, but also some sharp criticism.

“As a medical professional it’s appalling to see your posts and how you appear to think you know more than the CDC,” one woman wrote. “I’ll be praying for the citizens of Montgomery County.” (https://www.kansascity.com/news/coronavirus/article241376141.html)

Boston Corbett that level of ignorance is scary! He should lose his job over that! Definitely not who needs to be in charge or emergency management.

I see that county has four cases, at last count. And also lost one of its two hospitals a few years ago, a real shock for SEK but becoming par for the course in rural KS these days.
