FL FL - Nancy Meither, 66, Panama City Beach, 28 September 2018

On the Texas gulf coast you would not be out there at 10pm because of the mosquitoes.

Details of Disappearance
Meither is from Dry Ridge, Kentucky and was on vacation with her husband in Panama City Beach, Florida when she disappeared on September 28, 2018. They were staying in a rented condo at Sunbird Condominiums in the 9800 block of south Thomas Drive. On the evening of September 28, they went to the beach to watch the sunset.

At 10:00 p.m., Meither's husband went up to the condo, leaving his wife on the beach. She has never been heard from again. Witnesses reported seeing a woman matching Meither's description standing in the water about a hundred feet offshore at sundown. Her husband realized she was missing when he woke up later that night and realized she'd never come back to the condo. Her chair was left on the beach, but the cup she had been drinking from was missing.

According to Meither's son, she was not the kind of person to either wander off on her own or go swimming in the ocean by herself. Investigators believe she may have drowned.

I live in Florida, but on the southeast coast, so am not familiar with Panama City Beach. What about sharks. If she had on jewelry they are attracted by that. Also, at night and quite a distance from shore, I would certainly wonder about that possibility. My husband and I have seen huge sharks beach themselves chasing bait fish. As a matter of fact, we always make sure they get back into the ocean. Just a thought, but I sure wonder about sharks or even barracuda, no? MOO. Thanks, Katt

She wasn’t the kind to wander off on her own or go swimming by herself - but her husband goes inside at 10pm and he goes to sleep? Had they been drinking?
Something is odd JMO
This case was odd. I can't imagine my husband leaving me on a beach at night when we'd been drinking and then going to bed, but long married couples often have different habits. I hope her family finds closure. This has to be heartbreaking for them.

Here's the part that is the disconnect for me: Witnesses saw her standing off shore at sundown. Sunset that time of year is WELL before 8pm, and yet he went to bed at 10p. And no one saw her after sunset? I just really don't know about this one. Honestly.
