Found Deceased CO - Sebastian Castro Rivas, 3, Eagle, 5 June 2020

Are there more details on this little guy? Did he wonder away, what time did he go missing? Ughh, I hate it when the case starts out this way.

ETA- Not in pjs at 9:15, was he put to bed and went missing overnight?

I hope they find him safe, before he finds a body of water. So often, children with autism are drawn to water. I know my grandson, who is also non verbal, does. He would often hide in tight places at his home and seemed to be oblivious to his mom calling his name.

The Eagle Police Department is conducting a search for Sebastian Castro, age 3, who was last seen at his apartment at Eagle Villas. Eagle Police has learned that there was a young boy with a similar description of Sebastian on the playground at the Eagle Villas, 405 Nogal Rd, Eagle, CO around 9:00pm last night, June 5, 2020. Sebastan has brown hair and eyes, and was wearing and red and red shoes, with ripped blue jeans. He is autistic and non-verbal, and not comfortable with adults he does not know. The family is asking that anyone helping to look for please do not scream, yell or shout his name. He responds well to kid’s songs and animal noises, loves colorful things, water and insects. He is a heavy sleeper and like to sleep in tight small spaces.

Search volunteers are asked to check in at the Eagle Villas office for accountability purposes and so searchers can be organized and efforts are not duplicated. We also ask that volunteers avoid searching along the river due to steep banks, high water and a significant amount of brush and debris. Vail Mountain Rescue has boats floating the river, and drones have been deployed to search the river area safely.

The Eagle Police Department has been searching since last night, with the assistance of the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Vail Mountain Rescue, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, FBI, the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the National Institute of Missing and Exploited Children, US Secret Service and Vail Public Safety Communications Center. Anyone with information that may help with locating Sebastian is asked to call (970) 445-4911 or email eaglecountypio@gmail.com.

Unfortunantly, the above article says Sebeastain does love water. And it looks like the Eagle River is right behind his apartment. It looks like a real nice area to live though. Alot of businesses are across the street and in the opposite direction of the river. It looks like there are some trees that do separate the apartment from the river and sidewalk that may connect different parts of the apartment complex with part of the sidewalk real close to the river. :(خرائط ‪Google‬‏‏

Yikes, the river is too close for comfort. Feels eerily familiar (geography wise) to the 2 babies just recovered in Oklahoma.

Search for Sebastian Castro Continues

EAGLE, Colorado --June 6, 2020-- The search continues for Sebastian Castro, the 3-year-old boy that was reported missing from Eagle Villas apartments on June 5 at about 9:20 p.m.

Over 300 civilian volunteers came out today to aid in the search, alongside the Eagle Police Department, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Avon Police Department, Vail Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Vail Mountain Rescue, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, FBI, the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the National Institute of Missing and Exploited Children, US Secret Service, HAATS, ECO Transit, Vail Transit, the Northwest Colorado Incident Management Team, and Vail Public Safety Communications Center.

For safety reasons, the search utilizing volunteers will conclude at sunset today, with first responders monitoring the river overnight. We will resume our search for Sebastian tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. We have set up a signup process which will allow volunteers to sign up for search shifts for tomorrow, Sunday, June 7.

There will be two shifts: 7:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 2:30pm – 9:00 p.m. Please fill out the form at the link below or scan the QR code to enter your information and select your preferred shift. Once the shifts are full, we unfortunately cannot accept any more volunteers, so please do not show up without first signing up:

If you intend to volunteer tomorrow, please remember that we are still in the “Blue Stage” of our COVID-19 recovery. Please bring and wear a face covering whenever you are within 6 feet of others. Please also bring your own hand sanitizer and use it frequently. Please continue to practice social distancing and if you feel ill, please stay home. You must be a minimum of 21 years old to volunteer. We recommend volunteers come prepared with sturdy hiking shoes, sunscreen, and warm rain gear in order to be prepared for all types of weather. Volunteers should expect to be hiking over rough terrain for the duration of their shift.

Search and rescue crews today noticed a number of families joining in search efforts along the river. With our current high water levels, it is extremely dangerous along the river banks, and we would prefer that you leave these search areas to Vail Mountain Rescue and other professionals.

We appreciate the continued overwhelming support in response to the ongoing search for Sebastian Castro. We are immensely grateful for the outpouring of support we have seen both from the community and from our assisting agencies during this difficult time.

On behalf of the Town of Eagle and the Eagle Police Department, thank you. We are so proud of our community and the way we have come together to support each other during this difficult time.

The talk of water around missing persons cases is always worrisome. It appears area rivers and streams are at peak right now. From Eagle County PIO FB page:

*BE ADVISED* County offers high water safety reminders and resources for property protection

June 3, 2020 - Eagle County rivers and streams are close to peak runoff for the year. Abnormally high temperatures over an extended period have accelerated the high elevation snowmelt. Flows in area rivers, streams, and creeks will continue to run at elevated levels due to the recent snowmelt and reservoir releases. Rafters, kayakers and other river users should be aware of river flows when recreating on the water.

Officials are not expecting any flooding issues, but are reminding the community of the importance of being prepared. Sandbag locations, flood maps, and other information can be found on the Eagle County website at www.eaglecounty.us/FloodPlanning.
Current river conditions can be found at https://water.weather.gov.
Very worried for this little guy.
