Nevada - Coronavirus COVID-19

And meanwhile, cases in Vegas keep going up.
Yeah...and LV is releasing a new ad.

A new national television ad promoting Las Vegas starting running on Monday. It’s called “Reimagined.”
.....
The commercial shows various Las Vegas Strip imagery and outdoor recreation, but doesn’t show anyone wearing a mask. It’s does convey that Vegas will reopen when the time is right and will still be “fun and exciting.”

Maybe they want to know what percentage of their staff has already had the virus. My Mom lives in Vegas, and she seriously believes that she may have already had COVID19, in February. A lot of people were sick in January, February, before anyone really knew much.

My daughter and BF work in the casinos and they have a 7 month baby. About the time all the casinos closed my daughter's smaller casino closed. She had a bad "cold" at about the same time of her layoff. The baby was also sick at that time. She didn't get tested and recovered in about 2 weeks time. The baby during this period was taken to pediatrician for "pink eye" but was also not tested. The BF was ill but not as sick as my daughter.
I had been warning her to stock up on food and diapers since early Feb. (thanks to this site) and I looked it up on our text messages and she informed me her casino shut down on the March 16th.
My daughter slept straight for 3 days and had fever, cough, and bad congestion which I could hear when we spoke. She never reported further symptoms and wanted to mostly downplay the seriousness or chances that she actually was ill. New mom, trying to get by and pay the bills with me 1000k miles away.
Today, she is still isolating and glad to be staying home with baby. She has taken it seriously in regards to the baby and her elders.

The whole "mask vs. No mask" for employees is interesting. I went to Costco, Lowes, all employees are wearing a mask. Lowes, not much compliance, but they have one around their neck.

SuperOne grocery store, no mask on any of the employees.

Ugh. I do have empathy for those who are employed in Las Vegas, but I am staying away. I reimagine we will see a spike.

Seriously, no one sane goes to Vegas from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The heat is oppressively hot. It is even too hot to be out swimming. Which, doesn't matter much, because all of the pools and water parks are closed anyway.

A lot of folks in Nevada are hurting, they don't have jobs, and now, the heat. A lot of older people used to hang out at The Peppermill casino, Cannery, sort of lower end casinos, nickel slots. They hung out there for the air conditioning.

No casinos, no A/C.

“Gov. Steve Sisolak warns Nevadans to 'immediately' change their behaviors

Gov. Steve Sisolak has issued Nevadans a clear ultimatum: Shape up in two weeks, or expect steps toward another shutdown meant to halt a recent surge in coronavirus cases.

Sisolak, speaking during a Tuesday press conference at the state Capitol, told reporters the state “must see a significant reversal of the current trends” in order to keep the state’s economy up and running. He also asked local governments to step up enforcement of the state’s existing COVID-containment measures and urged employers to allow telework whenever possible — all in order to “mimic” much stricter shelter-in-place orders issued at the start of the pandemic.

The first-term Democrat has practically begged residents to follow Nevada’s mask-wearing and social distancing orders during recent virus-related press events. Now, he says he’s longer asking.

“Nevadans need to change behaviors immediately," the governor said. "Again, if we don’t make progress over the next 14 days, I will be forced to take stronger action.”“
