PA PA - Bear Creek, WhtMale 15-22, 2891UMPA, "Avedon" bracelet, serpent ring, clothes, May'79

Vedon is so unusual, maybe it was Ve Don? Or maybe it was just a cool name to use.
Here's another Vedon thing for sale on ebay, seller from MA.
Please if anyone finds anything else on the net, take note of seller location. I think this "Vedon" was very local.

I have found use of the word "Vedon" as a name. You can find it in various public records. Not sure how common of a name it is though

Well, now i am leaning to Avedon for sure. I happened to come by this reference picture with the A slightly worn down

"AVEDON

Hallmark(s): "Avedon", "Harvey Avedon"
Information: Harvey Avedon began his career in the 1940s, in New York, NY. Worked primarily in silver and gold."

That makes sense, seeing as there are so few "Vedon"-marked items around and the mark is identical except the "A".

Good job, thank you!

Snazzy dresser with fine jewelry and manicured toenails hmm... I feel like we would know instantly it was him if there was a missing person report to come across.

If his age is correct I guess he's either from a prominent, rich or maybe mobster family, or he was a well looked after male escort with a prominent, rich sugar daddy.

Getting stuck on the manicured toenails thing. Was this a common thing among young males in the 70s? Could he have been a model?
I'm thinking why would he have his toenails done unless there was someone to look at his feet?

In these years he could also be a Florida East Coast Cocaine runner type. Things were blowing up around this in that sector of street crime. The Dadeland mall shootout was a couple of months after for time context. Wonder what the brands on the rest of his clothing were

I don’t have much to add, just came across this case and the guy’s recon stood out to me. He has a very long nose in my opinion, and somewhat wide at the base. Certainly a handsome young man.

As always, y’all have done amazing research! Hopefully the right person will see him and he can have his name back.

He’s probably too old and too tall, but this is how I picture him. A 26 year old missing from Maryland since March of ‘79. “Moore was last seen in Pasadena, Maryland on March 19, 1979. He called his mother from a friend's home, saying he was going to the airport to pick up his girlfriend, but he never arrived there. He has never been heard from again. Moore was a known drug courier at the time of his disappearance, and foul play is suspected in his case. His disappearance remains unsolved.”

(I can not view exclusions at the moment, so he may have already been ruled out)

I submitted Mark Collman The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as a possible match to the PA State police last week. ( I just saw someone mentioned a few years back about this possible match)

Any who, LE just emailed me back:

Regarding your tip, the profiles of both subjects are in the DNA databank and no association was made, they are not the same individual.

Thank you for your interest.

They also updated NamUs showing Mark is ruled out and added another exclusion - Andrew Memmelaar missing from NY in Oct 1975.

This may mean nothing, but Beth Doe (169UFPA) was found about 2.5 years earlier than Bear Creek John Doe under similar circumstances, gunshot to neck then thrown over an embankment (although she was placed in a suitcase). I'm not exactly sure where Bear Creek John Doe was found along SR 2041, but it's probably only about 15-20 minutes away.

Great find I can absolutely see the A being worn off and the person who looked at it and noted it just wrote Vedon.... sigh...I wonder if all the letters were Caps also, like the image you found.
This is a perfect example on why it would be so great to have the actual images of the articles that the UIDs are found with..
Again great find!!!

This guy looks really close but then I saw the color photos and he had the mustache ..his profile said he had a mustache when he disappeared.. But that can always be shaved off.

My question is.. was Gary a snazzy dresser??. I think That is the key to this UID.. snazzy dresser!!

I don’t remember reading about the manicured toe nails part.. That is really interesting. Did it mention anything about fingernails also or just his toenails?

That would mean he would have his shoes off a lot where other people would see them. Maybe he went to bathhouses a lot? Or the beach a lot or was a foot model? Ha!

I find it really odd about the manicured toenails.
Nice fingernails is not that uncommon in men especially in jobs where hands are on display a lot or even where hygiene has to be kept (kitchens, hospitals etc.)
What guy has manicured toenails?
Was he rich, a swimsuit model, sometime transvestite, nude dancer, male prostitute?

thank you CCJD.. I just did not remember about the toes... I wonder if they ever checked out nail salons in PA NJ or NYC. Someone would of remembered working on a mans toes.

I went back on the thread and oh my .. I did comment about the toes... when I found that guy Mark Collman... oh my!! How did I forget this? I need to drink more water ahhh!

Ok well I came across this guy. What if he went missing in Feb because he met some Rich Atlantic City sugar daddy that swept him off his feet then.. and the ride only lasted until May when he was disposed of?

Atlantic City is not far from BearCreek. He seems to be in the range. Wish there was a photo. I wonder who reported this guy missing. I also added a map.

Ok I came across this guy from Long Island.. now what caught my eye is that his hairdo looks very similar to the UID.. also I was trying to see but it looks like he has jewelry on too. Like some big ring. He looks like he could be a snazzy dresser.. and the mustache anybody can shave off. now the only thing it was he was reported on November 1979... could that date be wrong?
