Another tiny one needing their name back! Gosh so many UID kids :(

Are there any archived newspaper clippings about these remains? Interesting that it was partial remains. If there was a skull, perhaps DNA could come from the teeth. The exact location of the remains could be telling, woods, water, wildlife, public park, etc. If there were any people that remember a lost sibling, they could have submitted DNA voluntary.

It appears an ID has already been made in this case. It would be great for others to confirm. One of our case managers spoke to law enforcement and it appears the girl was identified as Dessie May Holt.

Anyone with a newspaper .com subscription?

ETA: Never mind, I was able to snip/clip it and paste it here. Sounds like they had a pretty good idea who it was from the beginning. I wonder if DNA ever confirmed it or was there any MSM article to confirm?

Interestingly, the newspaper articles I’m finding are from 1981 and by all accounts her remains were found in 1981, not 1984 as NamUs indicates. It also seems like they were found in December of 1981, not July. The PMI was estimated to be 3 years, and it ended up being 7 years. I wonder why all the errors? I guess it’s a good thing they had an idea of who she was early on. Otherwise, I doubt an identification would have ever been possible. ETA: Other than by the newer methods, of course. ;)

I can’t find anything to confirm.

The description upthread that used to be in NamUs before it changed is: 9 mi West of Ft.Stockton, TX 4 mi South of Alpine Hwy. Which is quite different from the articles that say the remains were found on a ranch 25 miles south of Fort Stockton near Hwy 285. I can’t find articles about remains found in 1984.

The Odessa American 21 Jan 1983, page 12 - Newspapers.com Apparently a reconstruction was done. I can’t find that any place.

San Angelo Standard-Times 11 Dec 1981, page 19 - Newspapers.com According to this a skull was found.

Strange that LE told Othram that she was identified despite no scientific confirmation ever being made.
