Land met with Ritchie and talked to people in the jail where he has been housed for five years. He described him as "fairly mild and meek," and said he has done well to conform with jail rules. "He is not a problem inmate," Land said.

The judge noted the state's motion, said she would think about it, but would allow the juror to remain for now. @TB_Times

The defense disagrees. They want the juror to remain. It only takes one vote against death for a life sentence to be imposed. @TB_Times
  3. Dan Sullivan‏Verified account @TimesDan 3m3 minutes ago
The state made a motion to strike the juror from the panel because they said she indicated she was already leaning in favor of a life sentence, before hearing all the evidence. They say she "engaged in misconduct." @TB_Times

As court broke for lunch in the Granville Ritchie trial, the judge asked everyone to leave the courtroom except the attorneys. She did not say why she wanted to speak with them privately. As court resumed just now, it sounds like they were questioning a juror. @TB_Times

Hillsborough jury weighs life or death for child killer Granville Ritchie
September 27, 2019
TAMPA — Granville Ritchie is either a man of low-intelligence who grew up in poverty and suffers from brain abnormalities, or he is a man who grew up in decent circumstances, who possesses a normal brain but dangerous antisocial tendencies.

Those were the two Ritchies described by competing groups of expert witnesses who testified Thursday and Friday in the sentencing phase of his murder trial.

Which experts the jury believes will help decide whether Ritchie, 40, should be sent to Florida’s death row to await execution — or spend the rest of his life in prison without parole.

The seven women and five men started their deliberations just after 7 p.m. The judge let them call their families before they entered the jury room and had bailiffs order pizza for them. They continued through Friday night.
