Now we are hearing testimony from Ayla Frerichs,a manager at the La Quinta Inn in Kearney. This is a hotel that Trail, Boswell and KB stopped at as they fled west from authorities. It was at this Hotel that KB was first contacted by police.
This phone call from police investigators panicked the group, sending them back east towards Iowa.

In Trail’s trial KB has testified that the group were heading to Kearney to kill another individual. KB had suggested Kearney to the group because they believed a foreign exchange student from UNK would be an easy target.

The stay at the La Quinta was exceptionally short. It was a matter of minutes between the group taking their bags to the room and them leaving again. KB booked the room for the group, not Trail or Boswell.

Frerichs is testifying that she saw the group go in with their luggage, then leave again shortly after with their luggage. Frerichs and another housekeeper noted how strange this was and how it prompted them to monitor the group on security cameras.

Frerichs then checked the groups room, and found that cleaning chemicals from the housekeepers were still in the toilet indicating they had not been in the room much. There was also some trash left behind but that was it. The group left and did not return.

Frerichs has finished her testimony.

Alex Whitney @ntv_alex

After a short break we are hearing from Pam Wright, the guest services manager at Borders Inn and Suits in Grand Island.

Wright is testifying that KB along with two other individuals booked a room at her hotel in Grand Island. This stay would have occured on November 19th just before the stay at the La Quinta in Kearney.

Again it was KB booking the room, not Trail or Boswell.

KB testified in Trail’s trial that Trail told her he was expecting a delivery of cocaine by plane that would be dropped in a field near Grand Island that could help finance their escape...
KB testified in Trail’s trial that such a package was never found although Trail claimed to search for it.

Wright has finished on the stand after a short testimony.

Next witness is David Bolgren, an employee from Menards general office in Wisconsin. Bolgren is an investigator for the company.

Bolgren is now walking us through surveillance footage from Menards on November 15th. This footage shows Loofe and Aubrey Trail walking within feet of each other. Loofe takes no notice of Trail, Trail clearly turns to look at Sydney and watched her head outside.

On this Menards trip Trail also purchased some items including Draino, and some cotton chord.

Bolgren has finished a quick bit of testimony, now Investigator Matthew Franklin who has previously testified is on the stand

Franken is walking us through the security footage he recovered from Menards and the close encounter between Trail and Loofe. Trail made this trip into Menards alone while Boswell waited in their vehicle. By this time Loofe had already met Boswell, but not Trail.

Franken is also testifying that Trail called Boswell on his phone just a minute after he walked passed Sydney at Menards.

Franken is now showing us footage of Loofe leaving Menards around 6:01 PM. These are the last images of Loofe that investigators have been able to find. She would meet Boswell shortly later and her phone would shut off for the last time at 8:32PM.

Franken has finished his testimony. Now on the stand Tara Gherig. Gehrig was one of Sydney’s friends and mutual friends with Brooklyn McCrystal, an earlier witness. She also worked with Sydney at Menards.

Correction: Terra is the correct spelling.

Terra is testifying about conversations she had with Sydney about online dating. Loofe had dated men previously but had conversations with Gherig prior to her disappearance that she preferred women. Several other witnesses have testified that Loofe was no longer interested in men

Gherig is now walking us through some text conversations she had with Sydney about her first date with Boswell and her new medications. Sydney was happy the meds were working, and was excited for her second date with Boswell

Gherig is testifying that Sydney had texted her about interactions with meeting women online then being introduced to their boyfriends. Gherig says Loofe was frustrated with these dates, she did not want to meet men only other women.

Gherig also showed texts where Sydney is wondering whether Boswell (who she knew as Audrey) had a boyfriend or not. She says she didnt ask to confirm if Boswell had a boyfriend, but hoped she didnt.

Gherig has finished her testimony. We are breaking for lunch

To the reporters who are at the trial- thank you! I see KB mentioned several times during today’s testimony. Has she or any of the other “witches” testified yet?

No - I read she will be testifying next week. And yes, one of the "witches".

10/6/20 Day 8 of Trial (Day 10 on twitter): State witnesses: Rebecca Villalobos, the store’s asst. manager of Home Depot. In Dec. 2017, LPD came to the store to re-purchase the same items Boswell & Trail purchased at the store on Nov. 15. LPD investigator Chris Milisits, who obtained the security footage showing Boswell & Trail from Home Depot & Menards. Chris Hamblin. He is the director of security at the Ameristar casino in Council Bluffs. Hamblin said at the casino if someone appears under the age of 40, their ID needs to be checked & is then entered into their system. This is what happened with Boswell. They then traced her steps on video footage to see when she came/left. Ayla Frerichs, manager of the LaQuinta Inn in Kearney. Frerichs said after 5 minutes of being in their room, the group of 3 people grabbed all their luggage & then left. Reservations were made for Nov. 22-24. Pam Wright is with the Boarders Inn hotel in Grand Island. They checked in (with Kaitlyn Brandale) on Nov. 19th & extended their stay until the 22nd, but left on the 21st. Video shown: The three are seen in security footage checking in & taking their bags to their room. David Bolgren, an employee from Menards general office in Wisconsin. Bolgren is an investigator for the company. Jurors show surveillance footage from Menards on November 15th. LPD Investigator Matthew Franken testified to video footage from Menards of Sydney's last day at work. Franken also testified that Trail called Boswell on his phone just a minute after he walked passed Sydney at Menards. Terra Gherig (Sydney’s best friends & former coworker). Terra testified about conversations she had with Sydney about online dating. FBI Special Agent Mike Maseth. Maseth played for the jurors another video Boswell posted to Facebook before they were arrested on November 30. In the video, Bailey is nearly yelling that she had nothing to do with Sydney's disappearance & that she has cooperated with the Lincoln Police Dept. Trial continues to 10/7/20.
*Aubrey C. Trail (51/now 53) – Found guilty of all charges 7/8/19. A 3-judge panel will hear penalty phase. 11/15/19: Judge denies Trail’s death penalty challenge. Judge denies motion for new trial. Aggravation & Mitigation hearings on 12/15 thru 12/18/20.

Day ten of the Bailey Boswell trial wrapped up in Lexington, Nebraska with nine different witnesses testifying before the jury.

The first witnesses, discussed Boswell and Trail’s purchases at Home Depot on Nov. 15.

Defense attorney Todd Lancaster also asked Milisits about a photo he received from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 5.

Lancaster said it was a photo of a cornfield from Trail’s Facebook page that was captioned that it could hold “other bodies,” but Milisits said claims that there were other bodies were never confirmed.

The next witnesses was Chris Hamblin, director of security for Ameristar Casino in Council Bluffs. He said he got involved in the case when asked to look up Boswell’s name in their system. He said he was able to pull up the date and time Boswell entered the hotel and compile video from throughout her entire stay.

Prosecutor Mike Guinan said Boswell, Trail and Katie Brandle, who was known to be friends with them, checked into the Holiday Inn and Suites at Ameristar Casino on Nov. 17 through Nov. 19.

Next, Pam Wright, who works at the Border’s Inn and Suites in Grand Island testified that Boswell, Trail and Brandle checked into her hotel under Brandle’s name on Nov. 19 and stayed until Nov. 22.

After checking out of the hotel in Grand Island, Boswell, Trail and Brandle traveled to Kearney.

Ayla Frerichs, the general manager at the La Quinta Inn, said Brandle checked the three of them into the hotel around 1:00 p.m. on the 22nd.

Frerichs said they had requested an early check in and a first floor room, she said she happened to have a room available and allowed them to check in early. They’re seen on video carrying their luggage into the hotel room. Just ten minutes later, they’re seen carrying their luggage back out and leaving.

Frerichs said she checked the room after to make sure there was nothing wrong with it and she found it was clean. The toilet hadn’t been used and the only items left behind was a Lunchable and piece of cardboard. She said they never came back.

The next witnesses went back to Trail and Boswell’s activities on Nov. 15, specifically Trail’s visit to Menards that afternoon.

Dave Bulgren, an investigator with Menards said he collected surveillance video from the Menards on North 27th street from that day for police. He also provided the receipt showing the items Trail purchased, an air freshener, cotton cord, Draino, protein bars, a thermometer and lighters. The Lincoln Police Investigator walked the jury through that video.

The first clip they showed Loofe walking into Menards at 11:57 a.m. Then, at 12:01, Trail walks in after her. A different angle from inside the store shows Trail and Loofe in the same frame at 12:01 for less than a second.

VDV6WYO3MJFF5A36L2EWK3ZXNQ.png

Loofe doesn’t acknowledge him, Trail looks over his shoulder at her. By 12:20, Trail leaves the store. At 6:01 p.m., Loofe is captured on video for the last time, leaving her shift at Menards.

Next, one of Loofe’s friends, Terra Gerhig testified. “Sydney was my best friend,” Gerhig said. Gerhig knew Loofe for five years, they had worked together at Menards. She said her last conversation with Loofe was about her date with Boswell.

The night of the 14th, Loofe texted Gerhig that she “just finished hanging out with a super cute girl.” The texts continued, with Loofe expressing that she was concerned that Boswell had a boyfriend, because she wasn’t interested in men. The last text she sent Gerhig was “I’ll take her with a grain of salt,” referring to Boswell.

Next, Special Agent Mike Maseth testified, covering several different topics. First he addressed the items purchased at Home Depot. He said none of the items were ever found. He also talked about the phone found along Highway 41 in Saline County. He said they knew it was Loofe’s because a number on the back of the phone matched a number found on an empty phone box in Loofe’s apartment.

However, Maseth said they weren’t able to get any data off of it because it was too damaged.

Maseth then talked about a photo investigators found on Boswell’s phone. In the photo, she’s wearing a navy blue star patterned pajama pants. A pair of pants in the same pattern, but bleached orange, were found in Clay County with Loofe’s body. Maseth said he tried to contact the company who made the pants.

Something else found on Boswell’s iCloud was an unpublished video addressing Loofe’s disappearance. In the video she said she had nothing to do with it and she had been cooperating with the police, but her name was still being put out there. She said she hoped Loofe was found.

While this video was playing in the courtroom, Boswell hid part of her face.

10/7/20 Day 9 of Trial (Day 11 on twitter): The judge is providing the jury some updates on the progression of the case. She said it's possible both sides will be done presenting evidence by the end of the week or early next week. Once they're done presenting evidence, she said it will take about half a day to do closing arguments, then the jury will get the case. She said once the jury starts deliberating, they'll be sequestered. State witnesses: Ashley Hills, a woman Boswell met on Tinder in the summer of 2017. On a Tinder account with the name Jenna, but learned 3 weeks later it was Bailey. Hills said within a few weeks, Trail & Boswell started talking about witchcraft. She said Boswell was a "healer" & to get powers you have to breathe in someone's last breath. She believed she was going to become a witch herself. Defense attorney Todd Lancaster has objected at nearly every mention of witchcraft. The judge, said the jury can only consider this information to show motive or intent. The objections have been overruled. After leaving the group, Hills said she was fearful. She had previously been told if she told anybody about their group & what they talked about her family would be killed. The defense is asking Hills about why she got out of the group. She said she's not sure what triggered the panic, but part of it was their plan to kill Anastasia Golyakova. Heidi Ellingson, a DNA analyst with the Nebraska State Patrol. She says she tested several box cutters found in the apartment & none tested positive for Sydney Loofe's DNA. FBI Agent Eli McBride. They expect a full day tomorrow & a half day on Friday. Trial continues to 10/8/20.

Bailey Boswell trial focused on sex, torture and witchcraft on day 11 - KLKN-TV

Day 11 of the Bailey Boswell trial consisted of testimony from women who had previous relationships with Boswell and her boyfriend Aubrey Trail in the months before Sydney Loofe’s disappearance and death.

The first witness called to the stand on Wednesday morning is Ashley Hills, who testifies that she met Boswell on Tinder, the dating app, during the summer of 2017. At the time, Boswell was using the alias ‘Jenna.’

Hills tells the jury that ‘Jenna” advised her that she had a sugar daddy who would pay her bills and take care of her. A sugar daddy is typically an older man who spends or gives money to younger women, typically a girlfriend or mistress.

‘Jenna’ eventually told Hills that the sugar daddy would like to meet her, and they talked on the phone. scheduling a time and place for them to meet, which resulted in Hills being picked up by Aubrey Trail. During their first interaction, Trail drove Hills to his apartment in Wilber where he showed her a variety of items, including cash and coins, and photos of several other women.

After spending a few hours with Boswell and Trail, they gave her $200 in cash, telling her if she decided to be a part of their group, this would be her weekly allowance.

“I enjoyed being taken care of,” Hills tells the jury after testifying that she decided to be part of Trail and Boswell’s arrangement.

The relationship between the three continued for months, and Hills says Trail would often pay her rent and car payment, give her money for marijuana, food and small luxuries like getting her nails done. The three would also engage in sexual activity together, which included the use of sex toys owned by Boswell and Trail.

As part of their arrangement, Hills was required to follow a series of rules that included referring to Trail as ‘daddy,’ spending the night at their apartment once a week, check in with Trail every three hours, not talking to other men, being honest, and being naked while at their apartment, however she says she wasn’t required to follow that rule. If she broke these rules, she says Trail whipped her with a belt. She was whipped on three or four occasions.

Hills also testifies to becoming part of their antiquing business, and testified that Boswell would steal the items they were selling and eventually Hills was expected to do the same.

Hills testified that as they spent more time together, the topic of witchcraft and sorcery began. Boswell told Hills she was a witch, and her power was as a ‘healer’ and Trail told her he was a vampire and that he could fly.

According to Hills, the couple told her that in order to become a witch, she was required to “take someone’s last breath.” Hills tells the jury that at the time, she believed Boswell and Trail’s stories about witchcraft and, but doesn’t anymore.

On multiple occasions, Hills says she had conversations with Boswell and Trail about killing people in order to become a witch, including a time when the group was at Walmart in Beatrice. During that trip, Trail had met with a woman there and later asked Hills if she would be interested in killing her. Hills responded yes, but they never followed through.

Hills revealed conversations she had with Boswell about wanting to torture people and how they would do it. Hills claims Boswell told her she would like to ‘pour acid into someone’ and burn them.

“What was her demeanor like during these conversations?” asked prosecutor Sandra Allen. “Joyful,” Hills replied. “Her eyes would light up.” Boswell also indicated to Hills that she was ‘turned on’ sexually by torture.

Hills expressed that she also often fantasized about killing her father, who she said sexually assaulted her but didn’t indicate when. Hills was 20 when she met Boswell and Trail in 2017.

Hills also talks about another member of their group, Anastasia ‘Ana’ Golyakova, who was a ‘body watcher’ in the realm of witchcraft. She was told that monthly, the witches along with Boswell would go to a cornfield and ‘leave their bodies’ and Golyakova was tasked with watching and guarding their bodies while they were gone. Golyakova is expected to testify this week.

On several occasions, Hills would take trips to Branson with the couple, and Golyakova would come. Hills revealed that Boswell and Trail were plotting to kill Golyakova for being ‘annoying’ and breaking some of the rules they were required to follow. The group planned a trip to Pennsylvania together, and it was understood that Hills would help Boswell and Trail kill Golyakova on that trip.

Hills explains that she isn’t totally sure what ‘snapped her back into reality,’ but it happened while she was preparing for that trip to Pennsylvania. Hills says she had a panic attack one day at TJ Maxx and expressed to Boswell that she wanted to leave the group. The two women left the store, called Trail and told him that she wanted out of the group.

After leaving the arrangement, Hills had few interactions with the couple, but was told if she told anyone about their conversations and arrangements that Hills and her family would be killed, and expressed fear about that threat.

During cross examination, the defense seemed to focus on on Aubrey Trail and his relationship with Hills. When asked about what she thinks of Trail now, Hills responded “I think he’s a psychopath.”

https://twitter.com/ntv_alex

First on the stand is AG, a woman who also had a relationship with Trail and Boswell. AG met a girl she knew as “Jenna” on Tinder. AG was just graduated from high school when they met.

AG is describing her first date with “Jenna” (Boswell). She describes how at the time she met Jenna she was living in a toxic home situation and staying with a family friend. Their first date was at an Olive Garden.

AG says that she was interested in the sugar daddy lifestyle that she saw Jenna (Boswell) living. Says she wanted the easy money so her parents did not have to pay for her schooling.

AG says she met Trail after her first date with Boswell to discuss the sugar daddy relationship.

AG says on her second date with Jenna (Boswell) they went shopping for with Jenna paying for everything. After shopping the pair went to Wilber to see Trail at his and Boswell’s apartment.

AG says that her and Jenna got intimate in the apartment while Trail watched on their second date. She cannot recall whether she spent the night at the apartment that night.

AG says she was more interested in the business side of Trail and Boswell’s life, says she didnt know where it was coming from but she was interested in the pair’s income.

AG is now talking about her getting into the antiquing business with Boswell and Trail. She says the group, including her, would routinely steal the antiques that they sold at the Aardvark Antique mall.

AG says she would often disguise herself in wigs and other outfits so she could steal antiques to sell in Trail and Boswell’s business.

Now AG is going over the rules of the apartment and the punishments for breaking the rules. Says that some rules, like mandatory nudity, changed later in the relationship. Says she was never whipped for breaking rules but knew it was a possibility

AG says she would also help with chores and pricing antiques in her time at the pair’s apartment.

AG says while she was never whipped she was hit in the face by Jenna (Boswell) on one occasion for not doing something Boswell wanted her to do.

AG says while she was helping her family with the antiquing income that she mostly was involved with the pair because she was feeling impulsive.

Now AG is getting into her experience with the group’s witchcraft. The defense has, and continues to object to all of this testimony. These objections have all been overruled.

AG says she believes the witchcraft was “more of a foreplay thing” for Boswell and Trail. She says she cant recall the “powers” the pair claimed to have. Says she believes 5 people total were involved in the group.

Says she did meet AH and was shown a picture of one other very young girl, but met no others from the group other than Boswell and Trail.

AG says Trail would claim he was a vampire who could hypnotize others. AH testified yesterday that Trail also claimed he could fly.

AG says she believes Jenna (Boswell) would use hypnosis for roleplay, “She would go asleep on the couch then roleplay as another person”. AG says she was not convinced of the hypnosis or claims of witchcraft.

Now AG is describing the trip the group took to Branson with Boswell,Trail, and AH.She says they went to a park with rides before heading to the hotel. This would lead to the incident discussed yesterday where Trail beat AH after she injured him during sex while he was unconscious.

We are now being shown pictures the group took while in Branson. Very similar to pics you would see from a family vacation.

AG says the group also had discussions about killing someone. Says she was introduced to the idea slowly, says the pair told her they could make money from the murder.

She says the pair told her that they could make a lot of money if they produced a video of them torturing and killing someone.

AG claims the group spoke about targeting pedophiles and other criminals as victims to produce their snuff films. AG says she never knew of a specific victim they were targeting.

AG says she also regularly saw Trail and Boswell trade phones and communicate as if they were the other. AH yesterday testified she also saw the pair do this.

AG says she was contacted by another individual who had contact with Jenna (Boswell), and AG warned the girl there was more going on than she was told.

AG says she took a picture of Trail while he was communicating with this girl pretending to be Boswell, to warn her that she was being misled.

AG says that she was also unaware of the group’s plans to murder her until she heard testimony on it in Trail’s trial.

AG says she cant recall if Jenna (Boswell) enjoyed choking, but did enjoy rough sex. The defense has had significant objections to this testimony.

AG says she was only involved in the rough sex in the beginning of her relationship but she cant recall whether her or Jenna (Boswell) were choked.

AG is now testifying to texts Boswell sent AG after she had decided to leave the group for a bit. Boswell is angry in the texts, saying “if you come back you will be my slave”

Boswell also told AG that she would have to perform several sex acts on Trail if she wanted to join the group again. AG says after one brief visit she would never return to the group.

AG says she had concerns for her safety after leaving the group, “they knew where I lived they knew where my family was” said Trail didn’t mind hurting them if they got in his way.

The prosecution has finished questioning AG, cross exam starting now.

The defense is now asking questions about abuse AG received.

AG says she also witnessed Trail purchase a gun. All follow up questions have received significant objections.

10/8/20 Day 10 of Trial (Day 12 on twitter): State witnesses: Anastasia Golyakova, who also had a relationship with Trail & Boswell. AG met a girl she knew as “Jenna” on Tinder. She had just graduated from high school. She says they went on trips to different antique malls along the highways, and Bailey would dress up in disguises & they would all steal antiques to sell. AG got into her experience with the group’s witchcraft. The defense has, and continues to object to all of this testimony. These objections have all been overruled. Golyakova says she left the group once they started talking about torture & killing because she wasn't comfortable with it. She also tried to warn other women against getting involved with Trail & Boswell. Katie Brandle, who is another woman Bailey Boswell met on Tinder. She says they met October 31, 2017. After Brandle was picked up by Boswell & Trail on the afternoon of the 17th, they went to the Ameristar Casino again in Council Bluffs. The jury was shown the surveillance video of the three in the hotel on these days. An article on yesterday's testimony:

Witnesses show pattern of Bailey Boswell meeting women on Tinder, talking about torture & killing

continues:

The prosecution then called Katie Brandle.

Like Golyakova, Hills and Loofe, Brandle swiped right on Boswell’s Tinder account. Though on this one, her name was Kelsey.

Brandle said she started talking with Boswell on October 31, 2017. She was 21-years-old and looking for a relationship.

Brandle said it wasn’t long until Boswell introduced the idea of them starting a dominant/submissive relationship. Boswell would be the dominant.

“I had never been involved with it before but it’s something I was curious about,” Brandle said.

Brandle said she’d have to follow various rules, like addressing Boswell as “mistress” or “mommy,” she had to do what she was told and she had to be naked when they were inside the home.

She first met Boswell the day after they started talking, on November 1, 2017.

Boswell picked her up for a date at the Ameristar Casino and Hotel. It was there, that she met Trail.

Brandle was told Trail was Boswell’s “master,” and if she wanted to be involved with Boswell she’d have to be involved with Trail.

That night, Brandle gave Trail a massage and oral sex, even though she’s not interested in men.

“I wanted to be in this relationship,” Brandle said. “Despite being a little uncomfortable with Aubrey, I wanted to be with Bailey.”

This sexual activity continued from Nov. 1 to Nov. 6 at Trail and Boswell’s home in Wilber.

On Nov. 6, Boswell took Brandle to her home in Omaha, but the next day picked her up again because Boswell was mad at her for leaving a marijuana pipe in her car.

Brandle said she was threatened with a whipping and eventually assaulted by Trail and Boswell as a “punishment.”

Brandle then spent Nov. 7 to Nov. 14 at the Wilber apartment, continuing to engage in sexual intercourse with Boswell and giving Trail massages and oral sex.

She reiterated several times that she didn’t want to be with Trail, but stayed to be with Boswell.

Brandle also said that during these two weeks, Boswell and Trail talked with her about torture and killing, but at that time she just believed it was all part of their sexual fantasy. She said the same about their talk about witches and vampires.

From Nov. 14 to Nov. 16, Brandle was at her home in Omaha and only texted Boswell a few times.

One text from Boswell said she’d be too busy to text often, a second said she and Trail were too tired to pick her up.

The prosecution has said Boswell met Loofe on Nov. 14, participated in her killing with Trail on the 15th and disposed of her body in Clay County on the 16th.

On the 17th, Boswell and Trail picked Brandle up and they drove to the bank to put money on Brandle’s credit card so she could check them into the Ameristar Casino and Hotel.

They checked into the hotel on the 17th and went to the buffet and casino that night.

While at the casino, Boswell put her arm around Brandle and told her she, needed to prove herself to Boswell by killing a woman Boswell claimed was stalking her.

“I was scared,” Brandle said. “I remember being quiet and just scared, I didn’t know what to say. This wasn’t sex anymore, this was real.”

She said later that same night Trail talked to her about killing the woman again.

“At one point he said if I did go through with it if I ever told anybody then I’d get locked up and he would find a way to kill me, my family, my cats and I got scared and said okay,” Brandle said. “I just agreed because I didn’t know what would happen if I said no.”

On Nov. 18, Brandle said she doesn’t remember much at all.

She said she remembers sleeping a lot and making a trip to Walmart to drop Trail’s car in the parking lot.

Lincoln Police Investigator Bob Hurley did mapping of Boswell and Trail’s phones from the 18th and found that their phones traveled from Omaha to Nebraska City and back.

Brandle didn’t speak of such a road trip.

She said Trail then told her they had a plan to make money by picking up cocaine in Grand Island and smuggling it for money.

On November 19, they checked out of the hotel at the casino and checked into the Border’s Inn and Suites in Grand Island, once again under Brandle’s name with her credit card.

She said they stayed there for a few days but eventually Trail and Boswell said they didn’t find the cocaine so they came up with a new plan to get money.

“He said he wanted Bailey and I to find somebody to torture and kill and he would watch,” Trail said.

She said they planned to look for a student at the University of Nebraska - Kearney who stayed on campus over Thanksgiving.

“Someone who wouldn’t be missed,” Brandle said.

On Nov. 22, they drove to the La Quinta Inn in Kearney.

Once again, Brandle checked in and used her credit card.

Right after checking in, Brandle checked her phone and saw she had a voicemail from the Lincoln Police Department.

“I got really scared because I thought they had caught wind of what we were doing,” Brandle said. “I thought I was in trouble. I’d been trying so hard to keep from being emotional during all of this because I was scared and it felt like a bucket of cold water had been thrown on me.”

Brandle said she played the message for Trail and he decided they had to leave Kearney. They started driving toward Colorado.

That’s when Trail told her they were on the run.

“He said Bailey had met up with this girl and that this girl was now missing and they were the last people to see her,” Brandle said.

It was at that time, they started heading toward Iowa instead.

Brandle got another call from the police.

This time it was the Omaha Police Department who said Brandle’s mom had reported her missing.

Brandle then called her mom who told Brandle her father had had a heart attack and he wasn’t doing well.

She said that’s when she decided she wanted to go home.

She said Trail and Boswell agreed to drop her off at the Ameristar Casino in Council Bluffs. First, however, Trail bought Brandle’s car from her.

Before they went separate ways, Boswell cried.

“She was sad,” Brandle said. “She told me she didn’t hurt this girl, she cried that she didn’t hurt this girl and she just wanted to get it settled and hoped the girl would be found safely for her family.”

On Nov. 23, Brandle was dropped off at the Casino. She said she took a cab to the Walmart where Trail’s car was.

Later that day, she was pulled over while driving that vehicle and taken into custody for questioning.

Brandle said she never met Sydney Loofe or ever heard her name.

She did tell the defense that during her last week with Trail and Boswell, Boswell cried often and got sick a few times.

Witness at Boswell trial: 'I paid three psychologists to forget this incident'

She said Trail told her if she told anybody, they would all be put away for the rest of their lives.

"I felt like if I said no, I was going to get hurt, my family was going to get hurt. And I just went along with it," Brandle said.

She said she was afraid of Trail.

"He scared me. He still scares me," Brandle said.

That night, she said, she heard Boswell crying or getting sick in the bathroom.

Brandle said Trail later told her there was another way to make money. They would go to Kearney and find someone who wouldn't be missed and torture and kill them. Trail would pay her.

On Nov. 21, 2017, six days after Loofe went missing, she said Boswell talked during sex about wanting to rip off someone's nails and cut off their arms and legs.

The next day, she got a voicemail from Lincoln police who called her after finding her pill bottle in the Wilber apartment. She got scared that they had caught wind of what they were planning. Trail and Boswell took Brandle back to Omaha and went on the run.

"How did you leave it with Bailey?" Assistant Attorney General Sandra Allen asked her.

"She was sad. She told me she didn't hurt this girl," she said.

https://twitter.com/ntv_alex is tweeting again today (I just picked and chose his tweets, there were more, but graphic):

First on the stand is Dr. Michelle Elieff a forensic pathologist with Physicians Laboratory in Omaha. Her specialty is examining tissues, blood, and other materials to look for disease or injury.

Dr. Elieff is going over the initial portion of Sydney’s autopsy that occured December 7, 2017. This would happen 22 days after Sydney disappeared.

Dr Elieff definitely has an interesting job. Listening to her casually describe what tools she uses to collect tissue and how those tools compare to “something you would find in your own office” has been eye opening. Probably never gonna look at garden shears the same.

The defense is now questioning Dr. Elieff how she knew the dismembered remains were Sydney. She clarifies that tattoos, which is how Sydney was initially ID’d, are only considered presumptive identification.

Now the defense is objecting to the photos of Dr. Elieff’s autopsy on relevance. These objections have been overruled.

The defendant Bailey Boswell is appearing very anxious this morning. Yesterday she was even joking with the officers around her at times, today its a totally different demeanor. Last Thursday Boswell became visibly upset after pictures of Sydney’s remains were shown.

Now images of Sydney’s dismembered head are being displayed. Boswell is refusing to look at this evidence, choosing to stare instead at the floor.

Dr Elieff says the autopsy showed signs of animal predation on Sydney’s skull.

We are now discussing peri-mortem and post-mortem injuries. Peri-mortem would be near the time of death, post-mortem happened after they have died.

Dr. Elieff testified that multiple bags containing Sydney’s remains had been breached. This is evidence of animal predation, which was found on several parts of Sydney’s remains.

Tough morning of evidence so far, but we have made it to our first break.

Dr Efiell is testifying that Sydney’s wrists indicated bruising and scuffing, the injuries are peri-mortem meaning injuries recent to the time of death. Efiell says they are pattern injuries commonly seen from restraints of some sort.

Dr Efiell says bruises were also found on the left side of one of Sydney’s thighs. These were deep bruises, peri-mortem.

Prosecution has finished questioning for Dr Efiell now begins cross examination.

The defenses questions have so far revolved around what could have potentially caused the restraint marks on Sydney and what ligature could have potentially been used to strangle her.

At his trial last year, Trail, an ex-convict from Tennessee, testified that Loofe died accidentallyafter he choked her with an electrical cord during a “sex party” involving him and Boswell.

“On Thursday, in an email from prison to reporters, Trail offered a new story — that he had “lied my *advertiser censored* off” at his trial and in his past statements to law enforcement. But, he wrote, he was now willing to tell the truth and say “exactly what happened” to Loofe if prosecutors would drop the death penalty against Boswell.”

This guy never quits!!

I missed this, thanks for posting. I'd been wondering how he was keeping his mouth shut this past week or so.

I haven't read if Sydney's family has been in the courtroom but this has been brutal. I can't even imagine how they are dealing.

Any thoughts on how the jury is handling all of this?

I think Sydney’s family is there- not sure if In courtroom or the annex building. I was wondering if BB’s family is there.
I don’t remember the jury being shown pictures of the autopsy photos in Trails trial- maybe it was a day I missed or maybe the defense didn’t allow them. It seems a lot more is being allowed in this trial than was at Trails
Sounds like it might go to the jury already on Tuesday

The jury at Aubrey Trail’s murder trial today saw autopsy photos on two big screens pointed away from court-goers, as the pathologist testified about Sydney Loofe being cut into 14 pieces before she was left in rural Clay County.

I've also been wondering if BB's family is there.
