When Trinity County deputies answered a call for a welfare check on Arthur on 8 January 2016, they found relatives and friends already at Arthur's home. The deputies were advised that last contact with Arthur was on 4 January, and that he was believed to be abducted.

Three years on...it has become apparent there was foul play. Arthur left needed medications at home when he disappeared. He was living alone at the time he vanished. There's no apparent reason for his departure, leading to suspicion he was abducted.

Persons of interest have been identified, and LE has served "numerous warrants", but no further news.
