Stephen was last seen on June 20, 2006. He and his wife were camping at a Dungeness Forks U.S. Forest Service campground in the Olympic National Forest near Sequim, Washington when they got into an argument and his wife left the campsite. Stephen went to a friend's house the next day and asked the person to give his vehicle and his wife's purse back to her.

According to Charley Project, the friend drove Stephen back to the campground and left him there. According to the news article linked below, his wife Berwyn dropped him off there. He has never been heard from again. He wasn't reported missing until June 29. A two-day search of the forest turned up no sign of him, only a cache of food.

Stephen is an experienced camper and fisherman who knows the area well and had camped there for extended periods before. He was employed as a handyman at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Sequim at the time of his disappearance. His family believes he is deceased. He has gray hair, blue eyes, is 5'7" and 150 to 155 pounds. His nickname is Mike. Some accounts spell his first name "Steven."

3 years missing | Sequim Gazette

I believe he was a victim of serial killer Israel Keyes. Especially after listening to the latest episode of TCBS and hearing that a handmade beaded bracelet and loose beads were found in Israel's possession and Mr. Mason was making bracelets for family when he went missing, which were not recovered. There were also 2 22's found which may have also belonged to him. Israel took a lot of secrets with him to the grave. I hope more can be uncovered because families deserve answers. If it's true and he has passed RIP Mr Mason. I hope you are at peace wherever you may be.
