ADMIN NOTE:

Some posts have been removed.

Folks, seriously ... to refer to the fact that divorce is illegal in a certain country is not being culturally or ethnically insensitive. It's just a fact that could possibly be taken into consideration in discussing or theorizing about the case.

This is a crime sleuthing forum. Let's not take PC so far that pretty soon we won't be able to talk about anything.

ADMIN NOTE:

There are no officially named POIs or suspects in this case, so a timely reminder about Websleuths "victim friendly" policy is in order.

Excerpt from The Rules: Etiquette & Information

VICTIM FRIENDLY

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way, and only when such behavior is known to be relevant to the case.

The "victim friendly" rule extends to the family members of victims and suspects. Sleuthing family members, friends, and others who have not been designated as suspects is not allowed. Don't make random accusations, suggest their involvement, nor bash and attack them. Posting their personal information, including names, addresses, and background data -- even if it is public -- is not allowed. That does not mean, however, that statements made by family members and other third parties cannot come into discussion as the facts of the case are reported in the media.

Please post accordingly.

The family of a missing mother from Chula Vista will spend Presidents Day weekend searching for the woman at the Glamis sand dunes in Imperial County.

Relatives of Maya Millete, 39, said they took a trip with her to Glamis over the New Year’s weekend, just days before Millete went missing on Jan. 7.

“She bought her own dirt bike recently so she started dirt biking out with us,” said Millete’s teenage niece, Rica Marie Casino.

Always. Let's not forget that LM was a watcher of true crime shows, though, so he's a thinker (maybe), and possibly has more knowledge of how to get away with a crime than the average person. He told us that in his interview, so it feels significant. Imo.

BBM. What? I missed that. Well that was certainly an unfortunate thing to say when your wife is missing.

Amateur opinion and speculation

I don’t remember that either.

What interview was that said in? I feel like that is not true. Please provide a link so we are not passing around rumors or suspicions.

Husband said things like I know on crime shows if someone is gone certain amount of hours, etc., He made it sound like he did watch crime shows. Please listen again if you doubt it. I'd try to find the minute mark, but can't bear to listen to it again right now.

As far as I know, the husband only gave the one phone interview that I've posted on this thread probably ten times. Here it is again. Listen to it here:

Missing Woman’s Sister Pleads for Coachella Valley’s Help in Finding Missing Mom

The family has organized several searches and to no avail but her sister is hopeful someone picked her up and took her to a place she loved to hike and off road: the Coachella Valley, or Ocotillo Wells.

She hopes someone in the hiking or off road communities have seen her and can help bring her home.

“Please I‘m pleading, we need our sister back, she’s a mom, her kids need her, it’s been almost five weeks now, we’ve been in pain for so long now, please help us,” says Maricris.

At Min. Mark 05:51 -- LM says during his interview:
"[W]hat they say is like the first 48-72 hours are the most critical, you know. I've seen enough movies and documentaries about this kind of stuff, so the worst case scenario is something's happened very terrible. You know what I mean."

Thank You so much @alexwood. You not only supplied the minute mark, but transcribed what he said. Thanks.

 "... something's happened very terrible?" MOO, he knows that, but he just doesn't care to search, attend a vigil, get on tv and plead for his wife's return? I have more MOOs, but I will withhold my sarcastic remarks. I'm just commenting on his uninvolved, distant behavior, and how it must bother and worry Maya's family.

Maya's family has been very gracious toward LM despite his confusing behavior. They have over 20 years of history with him, and know whether his oddball/awkward remarks are consistent with who he is, or very different.

The one thing that does stand out for me...really stands out....it the description of LM acting "different" at a family gathering and spending a considerable amount of time driving Maya's jeep. Either he was obsessed with the jeep, or doing it to annoy her....or both.

Something really weird about that Jeep fascination that needs an explanation, IMO.

Amateur opinion and speculation

I think Solana Beach was a diversion.
IMO, the dunes or somewhere inland is far more likely. There is a lot of undeveloped land.
Agree. I looked with satellite at the route there and the area. No good place to conceal a body.

The canyon behind the house would be. Perhaps drawing attention away from there?

Odd...in his taped interview, he mentioned that to hike in the canyon, she would drive to the entrance. But there's an entranceway to the park right from their street. A walkway that goes between 2 houses. (I found that with google)

Glad I could do something! My part was easy -- finding the source (which you did) is most difficult!

Another word he said creeps me out for some reason, not that he used it in the same way I interpret it's meaning. It's the word "surreal". To me it describes finding myself in a bizarre scene. I picture someone personally going through some wild experience and saying, "This is surreal!".

Surreal - definition of surreal by The Free Dictionary
I remember being bothered by that word when I heard the taped interview. And then I remembered why. It's the same word used by Ganesh Ramsaran when his wife Jennifer went missing. She was found when the snow melted. He's in NYS prison now.

So, came across this article today, and found an interesting tidbit. Maya's family -- on Friday, were having a group text message to make plans for the Saturday birthday, and Maya wasn't answering. They all thought that was weird. So, Friday night, Maya's brother went over there. (That's the first I heard that a family member went over on Friday -- did I miss something earlier?)
“When my brother asked, ‘Where’s my sister at?’ They said, ‘She’s been in the room all day and she hasn’t come out yet.’ One of her daughters said, ‘She’s been in there for 11 hours,’” Maricris said.

So...if brother went over there on Friday night, and daughter said Maya had been in her room 11 hours...did daughter see her 11 hours before in the morning? Or did husband say he saw her before he left?

And...didn't husband say in that interview that he took the 4 year old with him for the day, but that Maya would be homeschooling the daughters that day? Only...she didn't. The girls were thinking she was in her room. (And we now know that school didn't resume until the following Monday from someone's post before)

And...since brother was there Friday night asking about her and talking to family members...when did husband hear her "rustling around" in the kitchen that night?

MOO, Maya's family is in a uncomfortable position. JMO, they may seem gracious, but from the beginning they've said they have to let LE investigate the "Red Flags". Care to guess what those are? They're being careful, not quite gracious, IMO. Keeping contact with the children is a priority with them. Urging people to search for Maya is the only thing they can do to not let this case go cold. More attention means the more LE is pressured to keep investigating. I think she needs to be found to take the investigation to the next level. Please know just all my own opinions.

Nothing wrong with hanging on to hope. Again, this is a good way to keep the missing Maya in the news and people knowing about the case. My own thoughts are why would Maya be hitching a ride out there when she left two of her own vehicles in the driveway?

This investigative producer is one of my favs. He usually digs up interesting facts. Look at all that sand! Where would there be a good spot? Sand!

Watch the video at the 01:16 minute mark.
"Family confirms Millete had set up an app0intment with a divorce lawyer for the Tuesday after she went missing."

All MOO and BBM

Isn't it strange she went missing right before she went to that divorce attorney? (Not!) We see this all the time.

This fact bears repeating.

Still declining to talk to the media or do another interview, but LM is still giving out his thanks. Thanking is one thing he has done. Polite.

"Larry Millete responded, “I prefer not to do any interviews. I would like to thank you and your network for your continued support and concern. Also, I’d like to thank all the volunteers.”'

State of mind ...
Maybe he "educated" himself watching crime shows.
