Police renew appeal for information after body found on beach
''Police are once again appealing to the public to help identify a woman whose body was discovered on the beach in Fortrose on Saturday.

Around 8.30am on Saturday the body of the woman was discovered by members of the public who were walking on the beach near to Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club.

She is described as white, aged between 25-35 years of age with an athletic build and long, dark-brown/auburn hair.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.''

“As part of our ongoing enquiry, we have been speaking to people in the local area and studying CCTV footage. We are working to identify a young woman who was seen in the Rosemarkie area on Wednesday, 27 January. She was wearing a distinctive light-coloured mac-style raincoat, a brimmed hat, dark-grey leggings, thick-soled shoes and carrying a small rucksack.''

''I’m also appealing for witnesses who may have seen a woman looking upset in the local area last week. Alternatively, if you have concerns about a female family member or friend who matches this description and has not been in contact, then please let us know.”

Anyone with information should contact officers through 101 quoting reference number 0942 of 30 January.''

''Detective Sergeant Bryan Ronald of CID in Inverness said : “Enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances surrounding the death, which is being treated as unexplained at this time.
Cops are treating the death as unexplained and are working to establish the circumstances.''

Police still seeking to identify body of woman found on Highland beach

“One line of inquiry is that this woman may have been present in the Inverness area prior to being found and we would urge anyone who may have seen her in the city to get in touch.

“We are also carrying out inquiries with colleagues across the country and beyond in case she has travelled from further afield and are using every means at our disposal to identify her.

“This includes assistance and advice from the UK Missing Persons Unit at the National Crime Agency.

“We would urge anyone with any information at all which could help identify this woman and allow us to make contact with her family or friends to come forward as soon as you can.”

Body of woman found on shore near Fortrose formally identified

The body of a woman found on the shoreline near Fortrose on the Black Isle has been formally identified.

Her body was found on the shore near Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club around 8.30am on Saturday, 30 January 2021.

The woman has been identified as a Romanian national who was subsequently reported missing on Monday, 22 March.

There are no suspicious circumstances and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Craig Still said: "Our thoughts are with the woman's family and friends at this time. They have been fully updated by our officers and ask for privacy at this time.

"I want to take the opportunity to thank everybody who came forward with information or who helped our enquiries in any way in the weeks since she was found."
