More of Lucas's 2017 interview: Officers ask: Was this premeditated or spur of the moment and Lucas replies "Not on my part." Later on officers are still pressing him and ask "please tell us the truth" through tears Lucas says "I can't tell you I killer her in any type of way

because I did not. I would never hurt my friends or family." and "I did not watch my friend die. If I did, some one else would be dead. That's a fact." and "I wish I could come and tell you, 'Oh because we had an argument and she hit me and i hit her and i hit her too hard,' but

Brandon Thompson @BThompsonNews 21m
I can't say that." The officers move on to Sara Lucas, placing the blame on her. They seem to indicate that Sara confessed and Lucas responds "But why man. There's no reason for that. Why would she want to hurt her, she did everything for everyone." The further the interview

Brandon Thompson @BThompsonNews 22m
goes on, the more tears Lucas is fighting through to speak. He says he's always too emotional and his frustrated with the questioning. Lucas says Feb 5 is a blur because it;s nearly 5 years ago, but also said he and Kelsie were high on marijuana, cocaine and were drinking that

END OF DAY 12: Played in court today was the hours-long, emotional interview between police and Lucas just days before he was ultimately arrested for Kelsie’s murder in 2017. Pueblo police tried getting anything out of him, but Lucas would not admit anything. @KKTV11News

Detectives would say things like “only you, Kelsie and God know what happened.” Lucas was very emotional saying Kelsie was his best friend and he didn’t know what happened to her. This kind of conversation went on for hours.

Kelsie's team was expected to wrap up today, but they did not finish. Could happen any day now, then Lucas' team will takeover. @KKTV11News

Thanks, @GoJacks. At first glance, the suspect looks like Lucas! I'm wondering if the victim thought the same.

Late on the night of Feb. 26, Denver police responded to reports of a woman lying near the corner of East Kenyon Drive and South Wabash Street. Officers determined the woman was deceased after getting on scene.

DAY 13 OF THE DONTHE LUCAS MURDER TRIAL: We will more than likely start the day with listening to an interview from Pueblo police with Lucas from November 2017, a day after Lucas’ jailhouse interview with the same members from the Pueblo Police Department. @KOAA

Good morning. Today in the #DontheLucas murder trial prosecutors are playing a 2nd audio recording of an interview between Detectives Cody Wager and Raymond Purvis with Lucas. This occurred November 15, 2017 a day after the jailhouse interview we heard yesterday.

Andy Koen @KOAAAndyKoen 4m
The detectives sound less patient with Lucas. They're asking pointed question about why he moved #KelsieSchelling 's car to Walmart, questions about the calls he made the night of her disappearance.

Court is in recess at the moment. My colleague @CWinderKOAA was able to hear more of the tape than I was. I'll share his thread.

The Denver Police say the murder appears to be related to domestic violence. They have previously said there is no connection between Martinez's murder, and the #DontheLucas trial.

How is it possible that, in 2021, it still seems to be the case that, the most dangerous place for women to be is in relationships?

What can we do to raise our sons and daughters differently?

Too many horrifying headlines.

Okay, we're taking a lunch break. Court is in recess till 1:15. The jury heard the rest of the audio recording from the second PPD interview with #DontheLucas. Afterward, there were a few questions for Sgt. Wager from the prosecution. Defense has just started cross-examination.

BREAK: Members of Pueblo police started playing the recording of the second interview with Donthe Lucas in Denver. Initially, police said that Lucas was right when he said he went from Canon National Bank to the south side Walmart on Feb. 5. @KOAA

A lot of these questions, Lucas said he either didn't know or was under the influence, since he said he did drugs and was drinking the night of Schelling's disappearance. @KOAA

It was also brought up that the surprise Lucas mentioned in a text on Feb. 4 to Schelling was cocaine. @KOAA

SCHELLING/LUCAS DAY 13 (1/2): For those of you wondering about the witness who was shot and killed, Denver PD posted an update this morning. The suspect turned himself in to DPD last night. Police say this homicide appears to be the result of a domestic violence-related incident.

We listened to a second, hours-long interview between Pueblo police and Lucas days before he was ultimately arrested for Kelsie’s disappearance.

For hours, Pueblo police and Lucas went back and forth in the interview. Police were trying to get any information out of Lucas they didn't know already, and pointed out where Lucas' story didn't line up. Lucas would respond that he didn't kill Kelsie.

So is the trial over now just pending the verdict?
