Sarah cops seal off woodland & scour water in Dover in new location search
The Sun (Ireland)

18 March 2021

Drone teams established a no-fly zone above the area in Dover, Kent, and sealed the area off from the public.

*Dive crews were seen entering the water as part of the search.

Officers were also seen in scrub below the Western Heights of Dover on North Military Road.

Cops have searched four different sites in Kent during the investigation into Sarah's alleged killing.

The coroner commissioned a second post-mortem examination yesterday after the first proved inconclusive.

Ms Harding told the hearing at the County Hall that "the pathologist has not given a medical cause of death".

But she confirmed no natural disease was found which would have caused her death and checks and tests will continue to establish how she died.

Sarah Everard murder trial and what happens next with Wayne Couzens
KentLive

19 March 2021

[…]
He appeared in Westminster Magistrates' Court on March 13 for his first hearing, he spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

On Tuesday (March 16) Couzens made a second appearance in court, this time at the Old Bailey in London, where he attended via video link from Belmarsh Prison.

It was announced then that a plea hearing would take place on July 9 at the Old Bailey, where we will find out if Couzens pleads guilty or not guilty to the crimes he has been charged with.

After the plea hearing, we will next see Couzens in court for a provisional trial, which has been set for October 25.

The proceedings are set to last up to four weeks.

Until the trial begins later on in the year at the Old Bailey, Couzens will remain in custody.

The inquest which took place this week in Maidstone at 9:30am, has been adjourned and will continue once the criminal proceedings have finished.

Police no longer searching woods where Sarah's body was found
KentOnline

20 March 2021

The search of woodland where Sarah Everard's body was found inside a large builder's bag has come to an end.

Officers cordoned off part of Hoads Wood near Ashford last Wednesday and found the 33-year-old's body at about 4.20pm.

They set up an operation base on the adjacent Great Chart Golf and Leisure facility and continued to painstakingly comb part of the 200-acre woodland off Fridd Lane this week, but have now left the area.

The secluded site at the centre of the search was next to a small bridge over the Ashford to Charing Cross railway line and had become a fly-tipping hotspot in recent months, particularly during lockdown.

A blue tarpaulin has now been laid across most of the dumped rubbish, with part of a tree trunk blocking a private track leading into the woods.

Cause of Sarah Everard's death still a mystery two months on
MyLondon

7 May 2021

The cause of Sarah Everard’s death remains a mystery to police more than two months on from her disappearance in Clapham.

[…]

However, a spokesperson for Metropolitan Police confirmed to My London on Friday (May 7) that efforts are still ongoing to establish a cause of her death more than eight weeks on from the discovery of her body.

[…]

...a second post-mortem independent of police was commissioned by Senior Coroner Patricia Harding at an opening of an inquest into Sarah’s death on March 18.

It is understood that “specialist analysis” was to take place as part of the investigation, but has so far not yielded a conclusion.

It means Sarah’s family also remain unaware of how the “bright and beautiful” 33-year-old died.

‘We can only hope that the officers and staff who viewed them did so out of idle curiosity and not some dishonest purpose,’ former Met detective chief inspector Mick Nevill told The Sun. Depending on what the investigation finds, the 35 colleagues could face criminal or professional misconduct charges if it is found they did not use the information ‘for a legitimate policing purpose’.
