Found Deceased PA - Ronald R. Nicholas, 72 - Clifton Township, Lackawanna County - 5 April 2021 ***Endangered***

I am hoping if he was seen on two different days that he is at a cabin. Out in that county, there are just beautiful fishing streams, trickling waterfalls, gorgeous pines, red dirt and little fishing cabins. It is a dense forested area. I pray he is in one of those makeshift cabins out there with his precious buddy.

I would really try to put the dog on a lead if he is up to it and tell him "find Ronald" or whatever his nickname is.. A dog's tracking ability is unbelievable. Especially for a person they know SO well. He may have fallen. Sending so many prayers.

Thank you for the update Richrd. So afraid this won’t be a good outcome, but I am glad the dog was found safe.

Search crews have been focusing their attention around Brady’s Lake

Crews are now focusing on Cole’s direction of travel in their renewed search for Ronald Nicholas.

Update: Authorities spot dog in search for missing Lackawanna man

The search to find a 72-year-old Lackawanna County man, missing for more than a week, has renewed near Brady's Lake in Coolbaugh Township after his dog was seen walking across the dam 4 p.m. Tuesday.

"Search teams are now focused on the dog's direction of travel," said Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Chris Wagner in a statement Tuesday.

BREAKING: Missing Lackawanna County man's dog spotted

Nicholas's dog was spotted today walking across the dam at Brady's Lake.

Police are now focused on the dogs direction of travel and are going over search patterns in that area.

What are the chances that the dog could now lead the searchers to Ronald? This hasn't happened so far. One idea I've seen would be to put GPS on the dog and see where he goes. Could Ronald have fallen into the lake?

The Nicholas Family asked us to post this update regarding their father 72 y/o Ronald Nicholas who is still missing, please read and share.

The search continued for our Dad, Ronald Nicholas, today with family members bringing Cole into the woods to try to catch a scent.

This was unsuccessful but there are a few more options being discussed for the weekend. We are asking everyone to get the word out to surrounding residents that there may be a reason to believe that our dad sought shelter in some type of barn, shed, structure, etc.

Excerpts:

Police told Eyewitness News scuba teams used sonar to search for any sign of Ronald Nicholas in the water at Brady’s Lake and found nothing.

Wednesday morning, they put a GPS on Cole to track his path.

Cole was perfectly clean when he turned up despite it raining for two days while he was missing.

Missing person search continues | Eyewitness News

Another intense day of searching for a missing man in Monroe County.

72-year-old Ronald Nicholas was last seen a week ago walking his dog near Brady’s Lake. Wednesday, search crews used two new tactics, including Nicholas’ dog.

Police worked with Cole until nightfall, hoping he would lead them to his owner. Wednesday morning, they put a GPS on Cole to track his path.

“He showed us a route and it made total sense. it lines up with things that we believed to be true,” Snyder said.

Missing Man's Dog Leads The Search Effort In Monroe County

April 16
A missing man’s dog is leading the search effort in Monroe County.

Ronald Nicholas’ family has been out all day at Brady’s lake in Coolbaugh Township hoping his dog Cole will lead them to him.

Today the search has winded down. Only the family was out looking with the help from police providing the GPS tools to use with Cole.

Snyder says, "If there’s a lot of people in the woods, it’s very distracting for the dog so I think that having it somewhat quiet environment for the dog to focus on finding his owner is important. It’s also these were a lot of volunteers."

While police tell us they may be moving into a recovery phase, the family is still holding out hope for a safe return.

What’s really puzzling police is that Cole came back perfectly unharmed, he was not wet, he didn’t have any sort of indication that he’s been out in the woods for over a week now. And that’s something that they’re looking into.

Wagner says, "That’s a little peculiar. We would certainly expect a dog that was in woods for several days to be a little more worse for ware."

The investigation has continued all week and additional efforts will be underway tomorrow at Brady’s Lake (Pocono Lake, Coolbaugh Township).

Search for missing Lackawanna County man continues | wnep.com

April 17
The search for a missing man in a part of Monroe County continued on Saturday.

Ron Nicholas, 72, has been missing for nearly two weeks.

Police and rescue crews were back in the area of Brady's Lake in Coolbaugh Township.

Search crews used cadaver dogs during their efforts.

Nicholas' dog, Cole, was found earlier this week, but there's still no sign of Nicholas.

Crews say the terrain is making search efforts difficult.

"It's got some swampy parts in it. This particular area over here that we just came out of is being logged, so there's a bunch of logs down. Tree branches everywhere, rocks, it's kind of rough, so we're taking our time and doing what we need to do," said Troy Counterman, Tobyhanna Township Fire Chief.

Anyone who thinks they have seen Ron Nicholas is asked to call 911.

He has not been found yet.

Update: An organized community search was planned for this weekend, but to be safe since it is hunting season, they will rely on hunters to be on the lookout for Ronald.

Excerpts from the post:

Now that the search for Ronald Nicholas has been scaled back and Brady's Lake (Pocono Lake, Coolbaugh Township) opened to the public again, we were trying to setup an organized Search...

...this weekend starts Junior Hunting and that means there will probably be a lot of hunters out in the park this weekend.

We do not feel comfortable organizing a search during hunting season...

We do not want to see anyone hurt, so we are asking All Hunter's that will be out at Brady's Lake this weekend to keep your eye's out for Ronald Nicholas and to call 911 if you locate him.
