The search area is in the hinterland near the seafront where Doris Clark last saw her son. Skelton Beck is a stream that discharges in the sea at Saltburn.
Google Streetview does not go as far as the Valley Gardens unfortunately.

A specialist search team hunting for clues over the disappearance of Steven Clark has cut back further vegetation on Saltburn Bank.
Officers are this week combing through undergrowth in Saltburn in the search for fresh evidence.
The operation has seen twigs and debris removed from the bank as the search for answers continues.

I presume they mark the positions of potential evidence that has been bagged and taken away. I can't see numbers or any identifiers that would allow them to be tied to serial numbers on the bags, though. Perhaps the positions have been recorded using co-ordinates from some fixed datums, but where these might be isn't obvious.Any idea what the blue markers are on the top photo?
