Report: Missing Southbury man's house now a crime scene

The 63-year-old resident was last seen April 16, according to state police.

News12 reported state police have searched the woods near Gasso’s home as well as Lake Zoar. Workers who visited his home found his wallet, along with the shower running and the TV on, the television station reported.

Police: Missing Southbury man's shower on, vehicle in driveway when co-worker went for check-in

When Mark Gasso failed to show up to work April 19, a co-worker who he’s known for years went over to Gasso’s Berkshire Road residence to check on him. Gasso was nowhere to be found, but his truck was in the driveway, the shower was on and his cell phone and wallet were also there, the man told police accordng to an investigation report.

The co-worker who has known Gasso since they were about 17, said he last exchanged text messages with Gasso on April 16 and that Gasso did not respond to a text sent April 18, the investigation report states.

Gasso’s co-worker called police after arriving on April 19, able to enter the residence through an unlocked door.

At the residence, police said they found a small, dried red-colored stain on the mattress — but no trails of similar substance on the floor, wall or surround area — and there were “no apparent signs of a struggle inside the dwelling.”

According to the police investigation report, Gasso had also called 911 April 16. Police said he claimed a woman was inside his house, but responding officers only found him at the residence. At the time, Gassso was “found to be oriented, but stated he takes both Xanax and muscle relaxers and had been drinking,” the report stated

Gasso's family claims they have no idea where he might be or why he disappeared. The question is, why has Gasso's home become a crime scene? During a live newscast on News 12 Connecticut, reporter Mark Sudol said the family told him that Gasso was depressed and had been drinking.

Mark Gasso's family is pleading for your help by asking if you have any piece of information that will help locate him, call the Southbury Police Department at 203-264-5912. The family has also put up posters describing him as 5'11 inches, bald, hazel eyes, and weighing 185 pounds. He also walks with a slight limp.

“Although he still took prescription Xanax and “a couple other medications,” the co-worker said Gasso had been seeing a specialist to manage pain, and he did not believe he was abusing opioids. The co-worker also told police Gasso did not “get around very easily” due to broken bones from past injuries.

Police also contacted a woman Gasso was known to spend time with. She told police she last spoke with Gasso April 15 when they went out to dinner, the report stated. After unsuccessfully trying to reach Gasso by phone two days later, she said she went by his house but he wasn’t there, the report continued.”

So:
Apr 15 - The woman friend went to dinner with MG.
Apr 16 - The coworker was texting with MG, and he responded.
Apr 16 - MG calls 911, claiming a woman was in his house. Police found no one but MG there.
Apr 17 - The woman friend went to his house after not being able to reach him that day, but he wasn’t there.
Apr 18 - The coworker sent a text to MG, but got no response.
Apr 19 - MG does not show up for work.

How scary. Does it sound like the mixture of drugs caused him to be delusional, and he ran off somewhere out of fear? But then, as @imstilla.grandma noted, they now calling his home a crime scene. So, what happened there is such a mystery. To us, anyway. I hope the police have a better idea what has occurred to this poor man.

The timeline of events makes it seem like something happened to him sometime after the police came to his home in response to the 911 call (4/16), and whatever time it was the woman was trying to reach him the next day (4/17).

Just my thoughts and opinions.

Glad you posted this. It's weird because if he left on foot why wouldn't the dogs pick up s scent. Sounds like he was ready to take a shower and maybe someone entered his home (tge mystery lady) or he answered the door right before he was hopping in.

The shower still running is a concern. I'm wondering if he was hallucinating or having delusions due to the medications he was taking.
The lack of a scent by dogs is odd though, especially as his car was still there.

There doesn’t seem to be any updated information on Mr. Gasso’s case, so I was rereading what’s out there.

So, it says: “police said they found a small, dried red-colored stain on the mattress “. Police: Missing Southbury man's shower on, vehicle in driveway when co-worker went for check-in

I started thinking: hmm, they didn’t say a stain was found on the bedding—like sheets, or a comforter. So, then my mind went to: I wonder if there WAS bedding over the mattress?
If not….….:(. My mind goes to a grim idea over that thought.

‘Cuz I keep thinking how articles say police consider this man’s home a crime scene.

I wonder if the woman he said was in his house when he called 911 was a woman he knew or a stranger. Was it the woman friend he had dinner with and he wanted her to leave? I'm sure he gave LE more information about the woman in his house. MOO

Southbury man’s mysterious disappearance puzzles family, police

The family of Mark Gasso, a 63-year-old Southbury man, says he has not been seen or heard from.

The family sent some of Gasso’s workers to his home on Berkshire Road after they unsuccessfully tried to reach him. Inside the house, they found his phone and wallet, along with the shower running and the television on.

Southbury police and state police began searching the wooded property for days but found nothing. They also searched Lake Zoar near Gasso's house.

I would like to give my two cents, in some detail, but my Xanax has kicked in, and I’m too sleepy to share tonight.
Will post tomorrow though.

Bump.
Unable to find any type of update.

IMO the shower running is a huge red flag for me. And then the red stain.... something is wrong here. I can't help but think the lady friend he went to dinner with had something to do with it.

Ive searched for an update several times but I’ve been unsuccessful at finding one.
So no coworkers, family, or friends seeking info or doing searches? Seems odd. Such a curious case. MOO
