GUILTY NV - Liam Husted, 7, homicide, State Route 160, Las Vegas, May 2021 *mother arrested*

It looks like both Danny and Eden have been found save. The deceased boy is someone else.

So far from a Spanish speaking reporter who interviewed Danny's mother: NoticiasYa Nevada on Facebook Watch

Yes, I'm reading that the deceased boy was previously misidentified as a boy who has since been found alive. The deceased boy remains unidentified, afaik.

Has it been mentioned how long LE thinks the boy has been deceased? That might help narrow his disappearane down and help spark a memory for someone. Has it been a day? Two or three days? ME can usually determine when a death ocurred.

Amber Alert canceled for brother, father after Las Vegas police say they ID'd boy found dead Friday

UPDATE (2 p.m.) -- The Amber Alert issued for 11-year-old Eden Montes and his biological father on Saturday morning has been canceled and marked as "located."

Las Vegas police have not yet released any updates in the investigation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

Is this just awkward wording? It sounds like LE ID’d the deceased boy...

It's easy to make a mistake because dead people don't exactly look like themselves when alive. There is also a strong resemblance between the sketch and the photo of 11-year old half brother of the actual boy, so presumably the dead boy looked a lot like the 8 year old he was mistaken for.

The boy was killed within 24hrs of being found. How far off the trail was the body? It doesn't sound like the group went off-trail. Who would leave an obvious homicide victim in what I'm guessing is an easily-accessed location?

This kiddo - those eyebrows and dark eyes.

Deceased Child Found in a Forest Area Near Mountain Springs

** Update-Help Identify Homicide Victim **

On May 28, 2021, at approximately 7:45 a.m., LVMPD Dispatch received a call of an unresponsive male in the area of Mountain Springs Trailhead, located near mile marker 20 on State Route 160. Officers located the body of an 8-12-year-old boy laying near the forest area of the trail. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. During a press conference that afternoon, LVMPD released a sketch of the victim to help in the identification.

In the early hours of May 29, 2021, a mother saw media reports with the sketch of the victim and reached out to LVMPD Homicide. Working with the Clark County Coroner’s office, the mother identified the victim as her 8-year-old son. Detectives learned he was last seen leaving his house on Thursday May 27 at approximately 9 p.m. He was accompanied by his 11-year-old half-brother Eden Montes and his biological father 37- year-old Jose Montes-Herrera. At approximately 9 a.m., LVMPD held a press conference in hopes to locate Eden and Jose.

Shortly after, officers received information about the location of the 8-year-old boy, Eden and Jose. They had been camping in an area in central Utah that was outside of cellphone reception. Officers were able to confirm the two boys and Jose were safe. It appears the mother and other family members misidentified the victim of the homicide as their family member.

At this time, LVMPD is actively devoting all available resources to identify the victim. Detectives are currently working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to develop a digitally enhanced picture of the victim. We are still asking for the public’s assistance to identify the victim of the homicide.

Anyone with any information about this incident is urged to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section by phone at 702-828-3521, or by email at homicide@lvmpd.com. Or they can call the 24-hour tip line by calling 702-828-3521 or 702-828-2907. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 702-385-5555, or on the internet at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.

I read in an earlier article a hiker left the trail to urinate.

With all the confusion about the mistaken identification, let's hope this boy can get the attention he deserves. Here's a map of the area his body was found: Nevada UID Boy 8-12 May 2021 - Google My Maps

Note that it's only a bit more than 10 miles outside of Las Vegas. State Route 160 is a state highway in southern Nevada that connects the southern Las Vegas Valley to U.S. Route 95 northwest of the city. IMO it looks like a "convenient" dumping spot, not something planned.

Here's some info on the trail and images. Hiking Around Las Vegas, Red Rock Canyon NCA, Mountain Spring Peak It's the desert, so the terrain is rocky/sandy with a forest of pines, juniper and shrubs.

According to this article they have narrowed the age to 8 to 10 years old and the PMI is about 12 hours. He was found at 7:45 am on Friday, so he was murdered between 7 and 8 pm Thursday evening.

"The boy is believed to be Hispanic, about 8 to 10 years old, 4-foot-11 and 123 pounds. Police urged anyone with information to contact Metro at 702-828-3521."
