She was last seen talking to a man/men in a station wagon. The Hitchin Post was a truck stop but locals hung out there too. It was also Halloween so people were probably having parties. She could have gone with someone to a party to wait until morning when visiting hours started.

This is a good point. It feels as though the fact it was Halloween isn't really mentioned very often, both in terms of her possibly heading to. party, and also in terms of her killer maybe being motivated in part to some weird connection to the date. The first time I heard the details/date, I wondered?

I often wonder if the Ellis Unit was gonna be a meeting place for a party...Kids do macabre things on Halloween and maybe they decided to meet up there.

Also Debra Jackson (Orange Socks) was murdered Halloween 1979. Cantu Doe in Bexar County was murdered in 1990. Cantu Doe was discarded near a truck stop.

God d%*$@. I know someone is working on figuring out this girl’s identity. An identification has got to be right around the corner. I see all the recently identified and I am always wondering when WCJD will be among them. In fact, I always think of Carl and what he must be thinking. It’s odd, I know, but my mind always comes back to WCJD. It’s her turn. It just is.

I know right. Why is it such a big secret about who is working on her DNA identification.

I'm confused. Is there any evidence that an organization like DDP or Othram (I know not them, but an organization like them) is working her case, or did the investigators on her case imply that they're still working on it and that's all they said? What was said exactly?

I apologize if this has been discussed and I just missed it, but did we ever learn the contents of her bag? Or if there were any? Just don't remember that being discussed at all, but maybe the killer emptied it to help conceal her identity? MOO

I shared this here awhile ago but someone asked DDP on their facebook page whether they could take on WCJD's case and Margaret Press, the head of DDP commented: "someone else is working her case."

As far as I know, that's all that's been said on the topic of genealogy for WCJD. Hopefully someone will share if there's more public info out there.

So Othram has said it's not them (apparently), DDP said it's not them and Barbara Rae-Venter has never included her among the list of cases she's working on she's posted in a facebook group. There are certainly other groups out there so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

She wasn't found with her bag, the witnesses just said they saw her with it, so her killer probably kept it or disposed of it.

Can't edit my previous post but thank you!

She was found with her necklace and shoes. Her clothing and bag weren’t found.

I thought the DNA they extracted for CODIS way back in 1999(?) was not enough for genetic genealogy and they would need to exhume her again to get a better sample.

Come on Walker County..."Do something!!!"

She's identifiable.......

There are new techniques that allow quite small samples to be expanded and stitched together to make a useful whole, so they might have been able to take advantage of that. It would explain why it's taking so long--just running the lab procedures takes months and has to be done by specialists, and then it gets processed by another process that takes a long time.

I know they sent Boy in the Box to Europe whey they specialize in Ancient DNA.
But I just haven't heard anything about WCJD.....Usually it's a fairly transparent process.....Sigh......
