CARROLLTON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – Frank Cornish III, a retired NFL player who played in the late 60s and early 70s, has been reported as missing in Carrollton, according to police.

Cornish, who played in Super Bowl VI with the Dolphins, is the father of former NFL player Frank Cornish IV who died in his Southlake home in 2008 of heart disease at the age of 40.

Where would he be heading at 5:30am and why leave his cell and oxygen? Seems like maybe he was in a hurry - I'm thinking could be he got a call for help from someone and he took out of there?

Carrollton police ask public’s help in finding retired NFL player Frank Cornish III

He was last seen early Friday in a white Ford F-150 pickup, police said.

He left his home (4200 block of Hunt Dr.) around 5:30am without his cellphone or breathing device.

Frank Cornish III, a 77-year-old former NFL player who lives near Texas 121 and Hebron Parkway, left his home Friday morning without his phone or required oxygen.


He is believed to be driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck with temporary plates.

Carrollton police said a Silver Alert has not been issued for Cornish because his diagnosis does not meet the requirements for one.

That is the first thought that came to my mind, in addition to CTE, from blows to the head while playing football. This is not good at all, the additional fact he’s without his oxygen, is not good at all. I pray he’s found soon.

You know, I hope someone keeps a close eye on this gentleman. I'm glad he's back home and safe but it sounds like he and his family dodged a bullet. Next time they may not be so lucky.
