Suggestions from a SAR perspective to friends and family. Check carefully along Windy Creek, Deeds Creek and any other nearby creek or waterway with running water. Despondent individuals find the sound of running water to be calming. Dense woods can be tricky and easy to miss a down subject. It is better to let SAR do a grid search of those areas. You generally need to get a "responsible authority" from your municipality to request SAR teams to respond. That is due for the most part for the need to get Incident Command resources in place to support a number of searchers. Water, shelter, portable toilets, etc. It can be a financial strain on municipal finances. I would suggest initial SAR team self supported "hasty searches" in high probability areas and a SAR bloodhound imprinted with a scent from the subjects clothing NOT handled by anyone (even family members) other than the dog handler. DO NOT touch or launder his clothing last worn in case they are needed for scent articles. Without touching them, ensure you know where his other footwear is in case Trackers need to see the wear patterns, etc.

@hotsytotsy, here is a bit more. Have all property owners and businesses check their out buildings and storage areas for a radius of one mile. Sheds, storage yards, closed businesses, etc. Due to the calming effect running water (gurgling sound) has on subjects and that accidents occur in and around ponds, check the areas I have marked. Keep a sharp eye out for footwear and clothing, sometimes even folded neatly. If creek conditions allow, walk the creeks for one mile in each direction. Has there been any heavy rain in the area?

Nah, as someone who has heavy detoxed from alcohol(.45), that would not do it. Those are when you are trying hard to rest from withdrawals, you won't be able to walk generally. The hallucinations are generally stuff in front of your eyes like floaty things, or hearing a repeating sound track in your head. BUT I knew it was always part of the process
