They could face some very serious charges, depending on exactly how they helped the killer(s).

The obvious ones are assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.

It's even possible they could face manslaughter or even murder charges themselves, despite someone else dealing the critical blows. Although those charges would require them to be seriously involved (somehow) in the act itself. I think inchoate and conspiracy charges might also be relevant in some circumstances.

My guess is that the high profile police announcements this week around the search have some of this in mind. They are encouraging people to come forward quickly and clarify their previous positions, or risk serious charges later.

Yes, absolutely.

I highly doubt you’ll get far and be able to see anything.

If people go along here please can you make sure you stick to the straight bridlepath that takes you all the way straight down and finishes at the road.

Any other tracks leading off this path are private land. Thankyou

You don't have to worry. I've lived locally my whole life and know the area. I'm not going to go snooping places just to see if you can get a glimpse of anything. Knowing me I'd probably get lost or stuck in mud. I was mainly interested to see vehicles, to determine if any specialist teams were there that have not been mentioned in MSM.

With the pain and suffering this has very publicly caused her family and with her Dad never finding his beloved daughter anyone who has withheld even the tiniest bit of information MUST be severely punished… an example made of them so this doesn’t happen again.

I hope and pray Claudia is found very soon to give her family some closure and PL can rest in peace.

I’d be interested to know where the info came from. It could just be another diversion tactic. Reading up on accounts of people who’ve tried to investigate previously, it seems to be a theme.
You’d hope the police wouldn’t make that mistake though, especially with the costs involved. I just hope it’s credible information and they find something useful to the case.

S.C. Seems rather quiet lately…….

There’s a article on bbc news saying that since the search began this week new info has come in. Someone’s rattled? The new activity has prompted someone to say something? Goes without saying I really hope this search bares fruit…

Thankyou. It wasn’t aimed at you personally, just to discourage others from going on crops and also potentially causing issues for horse riders who have permission to use the other tracks that’s all :)

For our Sleuths on the ground at Sand Hutton.

Is there police activity in Sand Hutton Village at all?

Buttercrambe Woods..
A scruffy looking man with a spade was spotted by some locals in Buttercrambe Woods acting “very suspiciously” around the time Claudia disappeared.
Buttercrambe Woods is around half a mile away from the current searches have you seen any police activity in this location. Or any markers that might suggest it will be searched next.

For those wanting to know about the silage/compost type structure off the side of the road….it’s unfortunate google street view is in the height of summer when all the hedges and plants are over grown but you can get a glimpse of it. I’ve attached some screenshots so that you can see it.

Also, a few yards along from this (heading towards the science lab) is the tin roofed shed which has the rather creepy ‘google is evil’ spray painted on it. I saw some discussion earlier where people had noticed a concrete like structure so I wonder if it was this they had seen on the map?

If I was a betting man, I say they are going to uncover nothing

I really really hope you're wrong but 48 hours in and was hoping something would be announced by now if environmental search last week picked up something of interest.

Hopefully it's a case of they've already picked up a personal possesion of hers which was discarded on site (so they obviously suspect her body also been dumped in the area unless killer(s) been very clever and put it somewhere else).

To not find anything would be very disappointing but par for the course in last 12 years so guess can't have too high expectations.

<modsnip: Do not discuss rumors>

Just want closure for the family now really especially after PL passed away without knowing what exactly happened.

Of course perhaps some human bones will be found but won't be of CL, reminds me of searching for Milk Carton kids last year, found some bones but they were 100 years old.

Pretty sure all taxi drivers are only granted licences for a local area, usually a local council. That would have been the Swindon area for CH. Of course, CH was a violent criminal with a long string of offences, so picking up illegally wouldn't have been a big stretch. But he couldn't have legitimately just decided to work in York one day.

The Fulcher-related promotion of CH in the CL case also led to a number of persistent falsehoods. One was that CH's father lived "streets away" from Heworth. He lived almost an hour's drive away. And died long before the CL disappearance.

Halliwell didn't need a connection to the area if he worked as a taxi driver - he could work anywhere

Thank you for the correct information. :)

That was pretty much a waste of time. Couldn't get any closer than this, I drove up to the sign to turn around, only thing in sight was a police van next to the red barrier. This road block is 1/2 mile down the road from the gravel pits.

That is really helpful - thank you.
