Don't Count Him Out, William Thoresen III

It's not just that Thoresen was bonded out time and again. He was able to avoid extradition for bombings in Arizona, was paroled early for a most serious assault in California and was not sentenced to do time in an equally serious Las Vegas assault case.

I can't remember how he avoided jail for assaulting a waiter in yet another case in AZ. If he only killed half of the people I have him down for, given these things, revelation of his story would have been an outrage and would have had serious consequences for many in the justice system.

But, because he was dead, they just swept it under the rug (though this was no small task. They staged his wife's trial and published a book that glosses over his story.) That said, those in the justice system have continued to cover it up, in some cases by firing people and in others by keeping documents sealed with obvious excuses for doing so. They also lie about DNA, not just in the Zodiac case but in Illinois.

The US Model 1911 automatic pistol was made originally by Colt, but its manufacture was also contracted out to other companies during wartime - in particular to Remington Rand and Ithaca. These pistols were made specifically for the US Army, but were also available for civilian purchase as early as 1912 and through all following years.
.
Yes the Model 1911 automatic looks a lot like the Brownie handgun. Either of them could have been used at Lake Berryessa. This attack was planned since he brought the gun and knife.
He must have practiced before going there and must have thought he was a Pro with his Gun in its Holster , Rope at his side and Knife in its Sheath. He was acting out with the Gun Threat the Knifing and the Roping.

It's conspicuous, the lack of discussion—if not recognition of—this suspect by certain, so-called Zodiac experts.

A post about the Michigan Murders, Zodiac and Thoresen:
...So what happened during this rocky time for him in 1955 in Chicago? Three boys (Robert Peterson and the Schuessler brothers) were murdered, a triple murder. They were tied up. At least one was bludgeoned with fists and, it was presumed by some, at least one of them may have been whipped with a belt like some of the Michigan Coed victims...

The Hideous Chicago Triple Child Murder That Was Finally Solved ... After 40 Years

A post about the Michigan Murders, Zodiac and Thoresen: He moved to Arizona in April, 1960. Three weeks earlier, however, three women were bludgeoned to death at Starved Rock State Park, an hour something's drive south of Chicago. Like at least one of the Michigan Coed Murders victims, a tree branch was used in the assault on the women. Like at Lake Berryessa and the Peterson-Schuessler murders (and, if I'm not mistaken, the Grimes sisters), the women had been tied up. It's not hard to imagine it was under the guise of a robbery.

Police set up a road block a day or two after the murders. A trucker, I believe it was, told them he saw the women talking with a guy and his description is a dead ringer for William Thoresen, down to his wavy, reddish-brown hair. What stood out to police at the time was the witnesses' description of the women.

After Thoresen moved away, these multiple slayings in the Chicago area ceased.

Like with Collins, they put a guy in jail for the Starved Rock Murders. He always denied it and it seems there wasn't much to his conviction. As with Collins, it seemed he had not the motive nor the background of someone who would have killed the women.

He said it ruined his life. They just released him a few years ago. He was like 80. Earlier, they made up some story about not being able to test DNA in his case (sounds like the Zodiac letters.) Yeah, sure. Also, decades after the boy's murders, they convicted another guy for the Peterson-Schuessler case. He denied it. And that one sounds like B.S., nothing more than a story....

IL - IL - Starved Rock State Park Murders of three women, 4 March 1960

The prosecutor who "solved" the Peterson-Schuessler murders said that old cases are not solved using evidence.

In the Starved Rock case, authorities said that DNA (hair) evidence was contaminated.

The coverup that Thoresen was Zodiac and killed Bates continues:

An example of this, and how in the pocket the mainstream media now are with the US intelligence community, are articles like this in which a police spokesman is a source for a story which explains away various letters long (and for good reason) believed to have been written by Zodiac.

"The case was officially ruled out as being related to the Zodiac Killer but remains unsolved," says the story, which anyone can tell is just B.S. as it does not name who the purported "troubled youth" was who supposedly wrote the letter.

One has to ask, just who IS the source for the story?

No wonder no one subscribes to newspapers anymore. They're pure propaganda. At least in the old days you got better propaganda for your dollar, along with perhaps a skeptic who could push back against anonymously based drivel masquerading as journalism.

And, of course, they're offering a reward because they know Thoresen did it and he's dead.

It's conspicuous, the lack of discussion—if not recognition of—the Morrison Means murders (5/4/69) case and its many similarities to those of the Zodiac by certain so-called Zodiac experts.

I, and others, proved that nothing but fake mailings arrived after Thoresen's death. Anyone who thinks Donna Lass' disappearance was related to Zodiac is uniformed, isn't very bright, or a combination of the two.

I see a long list of former FBI agents make up the team now claiming to have cracked this case. FBI documents confirm that they believed Thoresen to be a prime suspect for the murder of Valerie Percy. Six years later, on the admission of one of their agents after he retired, they planted a ludicrous story which the media were happy to print that jewel thieves did it.

This was around the time of Watergate, a case where they (with the exception of Mark Felt) were more than happy to overlook tons of evidence that White House aides committed numerous felonies.

In a recent news media story on the case, Tom Voigt noted similarities between the 1962 slaying of cab driver, Ray Davis, in Oceanside, CA and various Zodiac crimes.

Yet both the news media and Voigt continue to ignore that there seem to be even more similarities between the crimes of Zodiac and 1969 murders of Mike Morrison and Debbie Means, near Freeburg, Illinois.

I know of at least one crime reporter, whose publication covers that area of Illinois and ran an extensive story on the Morrison-Means murders a year or two ago, is aware of the similarities.

Why wouldn't an unsolved double murder case that seems even more Zodiac like (not to mention took place during the short time span that includes all proven Zodiac attacks) continue to be ignored by both Voigt and the media?
