IIRC, Jeep stopped offering a manual transmission after the 1999 model year. I am a woman who prefers to shift for herself, and check this when vehicle shopping.

I have a 2006 and 2015 wrangler with a stick, won’t drive without one. I must have missed the model but that could be true with every other Jeep except the wrangler.

The Jeep Renegade (like the one DR was driving) continues to be offered with either a manual transmission or an automatic. I haven't seen anything posted for which option his had.

I agree. But I also wonder if there's any chance that data could be corrupt. IIRC, the recon expert stated that they generally only expect to see 1 or 2 restart attempts logged after an accident and that is because the act of hooking up to the box to download the info will register as a restart event. Admittedly, I am not familiar with the mechanism or how the hookup ports work but that sounds to me like any time power is applied to the box, it logs an engine start event. And that seems less than reliable to me in a vehicle that's just been in an accident where the vehicle had had a strong enough front end impact to cartwheel it one time and come to rest on the driver's side. I could picture a scenario where that type of impact could result in a short that continued to log engine start events as the box detected power surges. I'd be curious to hear what LE, other reconstruction specialists, or even the manufacturer had to say about that data. Similarly, I'd like to hear if there could be some other explanations for how those 11 miles appeared to have been logged after the air bags deployed.

Adding quote from @JJ Ray from back on post 176 on page 9 where he described how the accident appeared to have occurred:
That was inaccurate by me and corrected later on comment #206. Got stuck in ravine, backed down and tried to traverse further down and hit into embankment sliding/quarter roll on to its passenger side. No wheels on ground.

Something @Knox posted a while back about groundwater contamination is stuck in the back of my head. Wonder if it is possible that Daniel discovered mine or landfill contamination in the aquifer samples and he was chased by actors associated with the contamination until he wrecked?

Wondered about that myself.

Search For Daniel – Please help look for Daniel Robinson

Thank you so much for everything you and many others have done to try to locate Daniel. I've looked over some of the chat from the search and am extremely impressed with how organized and professional these searches have been. Please pass along my appreciation to others who helped in the searches. Daniel's father seems like an amazing man IMO and I pray he will someday have answers.

I wonder if the coworker has confirmed that the clothing and boots found outside the jeep is actually what Daniel had been wearing that day (as opposed to spare/change of clothes he may have had in the jeep, which he -- or someone, but presumably him -- removed from the jeep following the crash).

I can think of at least three good reasons he may have had spare clothes/boots in his vehicle so it seems like an open question to me, until confirmed by someone who saw what he was wearing that day.
the boots are worrisome to me... I'm just catching up - another young man missing with the vehicle located - sigh

@JJ Ray, What is the leading theory/scenario at this point? I'm stuck on the clothing and boots being left behind. I am now wondering if he wandered off into the desert on purpose. I generally only see clothing left behind in hypothermia cases, and at that they are a discarded item at a time over the length of the trail.

Putting my forensics hat on for a moment, these are the questions I would be asking:
  • Were Daniels prints found around the overturned Jeep? Where they made with the boots or barefoot?
  • What direction did the prints head off towards?
  • Were Daniels prints the only prints found around the Jeep?
  • Were there prints found around the clothing? Were they verified as Daniels?
  • Were other vehicle tire tracks found in the area where the Jeep was located?
Injured or confused individuals do not neatly lay out their clothing and boots to go traipsing around the desert naked.

A lack of prints where there have been no environmental events to degrade them has occurred is in itself, evidence.

Does anyone have an educated guess as to whether or not the discovery of bones/fragments would be why the searches have paused?
I was not at the August 28th search. We have routinely found small bone fragments on all the searches and there are a number of cow remains across the area. I saw the Line grid/shoulder to shoulder search plan and the area indicated by the k-9s as "human scent" was an area covered on July 24th searches (i was one of the 14 in that sector and we literally walked right through that area as the wreck site was our most northern point, the Hassayampa being the most western edge). The area is close enough to the wreck that I would have assumed PD on foot on July 18-19th when Jeep was found would have covered that area as well. The search coordinator that day is now on here as @GoodNewShar. Perhaps she can shed light?

Don't know their leading theory... personally would not rule out anything. Hard to have a crash with suspicious circumstances and appearing "staged" yet still have PD and the PI claim NOT criminal in nature and admit the original Buckeye PD bulletin was accurate that he was troubled/struggling with something.

Problem is terrain...ravine and hillside is rocky not sandy. If he went about 175 yards west it gets pretty sandy in wash. Have no clue what PD did after finding the wreck in that regards (see other reply for more on the area I'm talking about).

BTW,
A big thank you to all who got involved from afar. For your interest, suggestions, thoughts and prayers to the Robinson family, and to those who came out to search. The rewarding part was a large number of people coming together for a whole wealth of reasons to get answers to this mystery. I can't really add to what's already here. If organized searches are resumed, I will put out the word. A few of us still go out midweek to search. Here is the latest update from the Searchfordaniel.org community chat page...(scroll to end)
