Convicted killer Dave Mahon wants job as 'handyman' when he gets out of prison this summer, wife reveals

Killer Dave Mahon is thinking about taking up a career as a ‘man in a van’ handyman when he gets out of prison this summer.

In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Dave’s wife Audrey also revealed that her husband has photographs on his cell wall of her, her missing daughter Amy - and her son Dean, who he killed seven years ago.

“He has her photograph up in the cell. He has all the kids and me up on the wall. It’s not like these g*bsh*tes with girls from page three - he doesn’t have them in his cell,” Audrey told us.
---
But the convicted killer, who came forward to gardai the day after the stabbing, is now due for release from prison in the summer.

on the streets - Killer Dave Mahon to be released from prison next month after five years behind bars

He was convicted in June 2016 and will be released from Wheatfield prison on July 29, 2021, the Sunday Independent has revealed.

Mahon, who was diagnosed with cancer of the throat and nose in early 2018, is due to be reunited with his wife, Audrey Fitzpatrick, the mother of Dean and Amy, who stood by him after he killed her son.

Dean’s family have been notified about Mahon’s forthcoming release.
---
Audrey Fitzpatrick had left the family home in Clare Hall, Dublin, to be with Mahon, then a well-off estate agent on the Malaga coast, taking Amy and Dean with her.
---
The divisions between Amy’s estranged parents worsened, and it was several days before her father learned of her disappearance through social media.

He was arrested yesterday within minutes of us quizzing him about the alleged attack on his neighbour at a house in Carrick-On-Shannon, Co Leitrim, last Thursday.

The alleged victim, aged in his 70s, received facial injuries including two black eyes, sources said.

He was rushed to hospital where he was treated, while gardai spoke to witnesses.

It is alleged Mahon visited the neighbour for a BBQ and a row ensued in which it is claimed the convicted killer assaulted the man.
---
Four hours later we observed him walking out and he dodged our questions about his arrest. Mahon got into his car after being released without charge, with a file now expected to be going to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In a statement, gardai confirmed there was an investigation into the alleged incident.

The family of missing teen Amy Fitzpatrick believe her body is buried at these Spanish stables, we can reveal today.

Her dad Christopher and aunt Christine Kenny were told by an anonymous source they would find her remains under Stable Number 5 in the derelict Hipodrome racetrack outside the Costa del Sol resort of La Cala de Mijas.

The location is only a 15 minute drive from where Amy, then 15 years old, vanished on New Year’s Day, 2008.

Last night, the family demanded the Spanish police who are investigating her case, the Guardia Civil, upgrade her disappearance to a murder inquiry and carry out a full comprehensive search of all the stables at the track.
---
“A lot of people in the Spanish criminal underworld say that’s where we will find her body.”
---
Yesterday the Mirror visited the isolated, empty track. There are five blocks of stables each categorised A, B, C, D and E.

There are collectively a few hundred individual stables which were used to house the horses for racing up until the Hipodrome track shut down several years ago.

The Costa races, as they were known, used to be very popular with tourists before they ceased.

''There are new calls for a cold case review into the disappearance of a Dublin teenager in Spain 14 years ago.

Today would be Amy Fitzpatrick's 30th birthday, which will be marked with a service this evening.

The 15-year-old vanished on the Costa del Sol on New Year's Day in 2008 - with no trace of her since then.

Her aunt, Christine Kenny, is calling on the Irish authorities to take fresh action.

Ms Kenny told Newstalk: "To look into the case, to review it, to let a cold case come in and how we can get some light on what's going on. At the end of the day she is an Irish citizen, and she is entitled to be fought for. People don't understand the fact she was only a child, she was only 15, her father is heartbroken."

Amy Fitzpatrick's mother to mark her 30th birthday by singing Elvis and 'pretending she's here' (msn.com)
''MISSING teen Amy Fitzpatrick’s mother and stepfather say they will celebrate her 30th birthday by buying cake, playing music and “pretending she’s here.”

In an exclusive interview with our sister title The Star, Audrey Mahon says she and her husband Dave will listen to music and go shopping as Amy loved to do - as they mark her 30th birthday next week- some 14 years on from her disappearance.

Tragic Irish teen Amy was just 15 years old when she vanished from the Mijas Costa area of Spain on New Years Day, 2008 - but now Audrey says she and Dave don’t have enough money to properly campaign for answers - after spending "hundreds of thousands."

But next Tuesday, Audrey says she and Dave will buy a birthday cake and pretend her daughter is with them, as they mark her 30th without her.

“We’re going to go shopping like we always did on her birthday - get her a birthday cake, play her music and just pretend she’s still here with me,” Audrey told us.''

“Amy loved shopping and we’ll go shopping that day. As far as I’m concerned she’s there shopping with me.”
And she says Amy’s love for music, particularly for artists like Elvis, will be celebrated by her and Dave next week, as they mark the occasion in an undisclosed location.''
