Mark Redwine Gets Max Sentence for Murdering His 13-Year-Old Son Dylan

The man convicted of brutally murdering his young son learned his fate. Mark Redwine, 60, received a 48-year prison sentence for second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death for killing Dylan Redwine, 13. This was the maximum sentence.

Redwine showed no remorse, the prosecution said. His hiding of Dylan’s body and shifting blame aggravated the family’s suffering, the state said.

“As a father, it is your obligation to protect your son, keep him from harm,” said Judge Jeffrey Wilson.

La Plata District Attorney Christian Champagne said Dylan’s family missed him every single day. They all knew how special he was. The child had close relationships with his mother and stepfather. The crime was aggravated on so many levels, with Champagne calling it an “unholy act.”

Colorado father sentenced to prison for killing 13-year-old son, Dylan Redwine

Mark Redwine, the Vallecito father who was found guilty this summer of killing his 13-year-old son, Dylan, was sentenced Friday to 48 years in prison.

“I have trouble remembering a convicted defendant that has shown such little remorse for what they’ve done,” said 6th Judicial District Court Judge Jeffery Wilson, in handing down the maximum penalty.

Redwine, wearing an orange jail-issued jumpsuit, chose not to speak; his attorneys said Redwine plans to appeal.

Prosecutors asked the court to sentence Redwine to the the full 48-year prison sentence applicable by law, and Wilson responded accordingly.

This case was so close to my heart. Something about Dylan was so magical and he was such a vibrant, intelligent young man. Seeing his murderer finally sent away for the rest of his worthless life is a relief.

My heart goes out to his lovely family and my love and prayers to young Dylan ~~~May.He.Rest.In.Peace.

Such a long journey to reach this point.

MR will go through his appeals, unsuccessfully, and will carry on with whatever shenanigans he comes up with, but he is now where's he belongs and is where he will die.

With this chapter over, may his mother, brother, family, and friends find strength and healing as they go on with Dylan safely in their hearts and memories.
